First time with autos

I finished a cop few months back. Hardy plant that got overshadowed by a daiquiri lime. Despite this she grew ok, nothing special I thought.

Having cured, it's a nice enough vape.

But I pressed half of the crop for rosin. It wasn't the most generous, giving me only about 10% return when I generally expect 20% or more, so I was a little disappointed.

But the taste.... I reckon it's one of my tastiest. Subtle tangerine comes through on the exhale, very smooth and moorish. So I'm going to press the rest. And this coming winter, when I do an auto run, I'm thinking of doing a tent full.

Enjoy....

Hey there MP, hope all is well.
Interesting, this one was truly abused, stunted, cold, hold and everything in between at the beginning until things dialed in. TBH I nearly topped her a few times just to get the pot space back - but as it was a first run with autos I tried to abuse her more to see if she would do anything. For her bonsai stature she yielded respectably, I can’t get the smell or taste any stronger through curing - but she seems to be getting stronger by the day. I am sure if she was treated well she would have done much better from all sides.

take care and ping a link if you do a diary or pics of your next grow

cheers

AND THEN THERE WERE TWO....

Today saw the culling of the Auto GlueberryOG! Another shockingly abused plant that kept on trooping.

She stinks to high heaven - as she had lived all her life in the tent and as the tent is inside its own room the smell is only when I unzip and then it is a combination of whatever is in there. Alone she stinks, diesely, very old school hashy.

covered in crystals and due to the aggressive tying down no fluff to speak off, and only a couple of leaves to take of at cut down.

A few of the colas were very fat indeed, I tried to show its girth against a bottle of drinkypops.

The tent is now down to two from the first four autos tester/play! This stumped little bonsai will yield surprisingly well for her daft size, grown properly from the start she would have been a monster with enormous sticky nugs, a very strong plant from Dutch Passion...just the smell at chop makes me want to grow it again..reminds me of the smell of nice hash in the late 80s.

She will be dried in the makeshift box that is connected to the passive intake, slow and steady wins the race.

Hello All - I trust you are all well!

Now we are down to two plants from 4 that I have been playing with to find my approach.
These final two have been much better looked after and were not as abused and littles. The Mazar I left and ties died the first layer, then cleaned a few layers to get the cola - it works and looks great but is a waste of Space. The first two were topped and tied and topped and tied. The La Rica was a basic mainline until I could not reach her so went a bit lanky.

I think I will do a combo of topping, mainlining and tying when I pop the next few seeds, I think it will give me the desired canopy etc...

Anyhow, back to the present.
Temps: 21-26

RH: 35-45%
Nutes as before - the cut down version, just bloom A&B and PK at 1.8E.C now.

The La Rica now has some space and I moved her around a little so I could get to her behind the Mazar.
She is doing As she should, her buds are forming nicely and the crystals are everywhere. The Smell I got from her was very tangy fresh citrus smell which is nice. Skinny buds but still a few weeks left to go.

I only have one pic of her - I shall do better next time.

The Mazar, she has been a treat to watch throughout, her buds are gettin g a lot fatter and covered in crystals. Not much to say other than she smells earthy and pungent, her buds are well formed, I have also had to add a yo-yo or two to hold her up as she was swaying around as if she is sat in hurricane wilma.

I used the flash on some of the pictures, in some it worked well in others it made it look like the bud was superimposed on to a background - but it is only a phone so good enough.

In the last pic you can see where I have bent down some La Rica - different shade of green.

Good day one and all - I do hope everyone is well!

Really nothing to report - just waiting for them to finish.

a few snaps to keep things moving along

the La Rica

Looks very nice - leaves curling in a bit but it is the final stretch so no dramas.

The Mazar

fatter and fatter she gets, and now has a nice lavender coloured hue going on

And the full tent - you can just make out the La Rica at the back to the left.

Hey buddy my auto are looking done but was wondering your what your advise woulde be know it's ready to flush and harvest. Ive read about looking at trichomes through a jewellers loupe but was wondering your expertise by just looking at it. Sorry for a vague and probably not straight forward question. Love your diary and amazing work peace brother

Hey JJ - I tend to cut using a loupe or scope plus what the plant is saying, the white pistils for me are important, if there are fresh ones coming out there is likely some fattening up to do, but take it too far with the turning of the Trichomes to brown you could lose your potency, the differences are rather slight but noticeable.
90+% on Pistils and a small % on the trichomes going brown tends to suit me well

Hello all

And then there were non!
So, as we come to an end of my first run with autos - all I can say is, if you have not already tried them - you bloody should.

I planted five seeds and ended with four plants

DP - Auto Critical Orange Punch

DP - Auto Mazar

DP - Glueberry OG

Elite Seeds - La Rica CBD

First up:

DP - Auto Critical Orange Punch

This lady is resilient, about a week in I tested the waters and topped her, she hated it, so did it again - before you know it I was twisting and tying her up. DO NOT do that, it stumped and slowed her growth to the point of nearly no return. On many an occasion she was very close to becoming compost. Temps and humidity were awful as I was dialing things in, but with everything being a first (autos, LEDs, airpot, in a garage....oh and a 10 year break since the last time I saw a plant let alone grow one) it took longer than expected, her roots had not taken it was just messy. But she kept on coming, her full height was a touch over 12inches high and with all the topping and training she ended with about 25+ mini bonsai cola’s each with zero fluff and solid weighty nuggets.
Dried for about 10 days, the cure was staggered, by the end of the smoke it was very nice. Soft orange flavor with a very decent high that lasted for a long time.
Grown properly there is easily 9zips on this plant - in my attempt there was not....I can’t remember what she produced of sticky icky (it is in the diary somewhere).

It is a nice morning - so I am going to the gardening center to get my vegetables sorted (hopefully the shit weather does not return)

I shall return later to finish this post

Right then, back from the garden center and planted out some lovely vegetables and berries.

On to the GlueberryOG, once again from Dutch Passion. As with the COP every form of abuse was dealt to this lady, she stalled, and snapped, and cooked and froze - but she carried on like a trooper.
Unlike the COP, the GBOG really stunk whilst growing, a really nice 80’s dark hash smell (you know the one). Again due to the abuse she never really took off and as above, never rose over 1ft in height. She was also topped and trained and topped and trained and was very flat, as above there was zero fluff bud only mini colas

The beautiful thing about this lady was the taste, so nice in fact I ended up pressing half the plant for some lovely very very strong rosin.

Her high is immense, all in one - starts high and bouncy, moving to a decent clear body hit then on to the couch, and each dab or joint has the same final effect - a great nights sleep.

forgot to mention, the GBOG was in a regular 18ltr Wilma square pot, the COP was in a 20lts airpot- did not really notice any difference but they were both abused so hard to tell if one is better than another.

will do the chop of the Mazar shortly

The Mazar Auto from DP - all I can say is amazing genetics, what a beauty in every-way.

Sprouted quickly, grew very quickly, stretched like mad, all the colas filled out heavy, no deficiencies throughout, she just kept growing until she was ripe!

This lady was treated far better than the first two - the room was disliked in and she thrived.
With her, I did not too at all, I kept the main cola and stripped all apart from the 10/12 sides from the very bottom the. Left a gap to the main branch. She grew and grew

The smell during growth once again was a nice earthy old school hash smell and very pungent.

I don’t weigh my weed as I don’t have any scales other than kitchen ones, this said I am expecting about 20zips of dried primo and close to nothing in Schwag...

She  came down bank holiday Monday and is hanging in the tent at 18degrees and 45-50% RH. Hoping for a two week dry weather permitting then I shall trim her down further to remove all stalk and rubbish.

sorry for the photo dump - but she was just so so easy and grew in to since a lovely looking lady.
When I cut her I down I was impressed with the bud to stalk/leaf ratio - it was all bud, alongside that all the side branches were long beautiful colas in their own long fat rights!

she will be a while before I smoke any so will wrap it up later with a measly smoke report (I say measly as I don’t have the creative flair that others do when explaining their highs).

Now I am very very high - just dabbed myself to....anyway when I return to a state of semi consciousness I shall finish the wrap up with the Ka Rica that also came down the same day as the Mazar.

cheers all - stay safe - actually fuck it, Be happy!

cheers

Z

Finally we have the La Rica from Elite seeds, also an auto, but this lady was made up of 10% THC and 11%CBD so ticks the boxes for me.

she was topped and stripped then topped and stripped twice which gave me eight main branches and very little else

I would say this little test was OK.

went for eight and got them, all pretty solid. The downside is I did chop her maybe two/three weeks early as I needed the tent for the Mazar which would never fit in my single plant cardboard drying box.

other than the topping, stripping and training down at the early stages I could not do much else as she was shadowed behind the other plant so I barely even saw her hence a lack of photos

The smell is immense, very tangy and zesty on the nose with a slow release diesel smell that comes through.
I would suggest grown out for the extra two weeks she would be incredibly fat - as it is her nugs as above are as dry as they need to be now and you can see the ickle little clipper lighter in the bottom left area for scale.

I very much look forward to giving this lass a go soon.

A couple more days in the tent the. I will do a final trim down to bud and jar up - I may sneak a little doobie then.

thanks all, take care and enjoy whatever you are doing
