I've definitely bought a few £100+ packs of seeds, but I think a lot of these high prices and hype are for people growing for sale in legal/med states, where seed costs can be tax deductible and having the name of the month on your bag really does affect the amount you can charge.

People are mugs and love spending money on the latest blah, blah :wanker:

Not quite the same, but when 'toys-r-us' opened near us 30 odd years ago it was cheap, but no-one shopped there. They put the prices up and it's been busy ever since?

I bought a couple of pack of seeds at 220 price range 15 odd years ago, I didn`t have the net or head shops any where near me at the time and quite frankly didn`t have a clue, it was fukka seeds lol

then I joined here and found out what the big boys were growing and I even learned how to make my own!

I just think to some people, sadly, expensive = better. That's just how some people think, and it's those people that are the target market for the stupidly expensive seed companies. Part of it is a 'status' thing, I guess - to some people the more money you have, the better you are (people like Donald Trump), the he who dies with the most toys wins mentality, and the more money you spend on something (as long as you let everyone know how much you spent on it), the bigger you feel. Fuck em, if people fall for it and have the money to waste, more fool them.

Perspective perhaps :

Over Xmas I spent nigh on 170 squids on beans , I mean prize winning , tested and proven top shelf Canna .... difference is I get 4 packs of different strains , all regs and peace of mind regarding germination , quality and accuracy of genetics . Instead of 240 for 10 fuck knows what fems.

:yinyang:

E2A and subby seeds @ 100 squids and 7 packs (140+ beans) for supporting here and the array of top cooking makes a mockery of these import merchants IMHO

The clones are legit. Seeds of those clones are the opposite of legit

My apologies, $450 dollars for god know what, its got to be the most vague page for a strain ive ever seen for what sounds like a bit of pollen chucking on an "elite" clone

Pfffft.........the seeds wouldnt interest me if they were 20 quid, Id rather give 20 to the subs and know the genetics are spot on

They do the dosido if they sell a pack, the stranger who bought them is left pale #

e2a.......fuckin hackers at best imo as I suspect many of these "breeders" of the big thing right now/tomorow are who cross any elite cut with anything and try to sell for fotunes

There is simply no reason whatsoever that mating two frosty things will result in an expression of both and be frosty.

Chocolate x lime does not = choco fucking limey.  The real fire is in finding, refining and cross breeding landrace strains.  Ground up stuff.

The history of skunk #1 is a great read.  Read from as many sources as you can and then will emerge the input needed to truly create a strain.  It is indeed a legend.  Someone said you could still get the original stock and linked it.  They weren't expensive.

Also.  Black domina is a poly hybrid.  It was expensive but you could see why.

Not a simple hack but a child of four parents.

These modern hacks are bringing fuck all to the table.

Most are freaks that can't be stabilised and provided in seed form.

Hence the elite hermie brigade.

I'm S1 ed out.......

Talked enough good shit.

;)

Looks like people are willing to pay those prices even users on these boards...

Like I said if it sells at that price it's actually really good business. Like Apple I guess even though their product is inferior its marketed and priced as though it's the best thing ever and people pay the money and even fight tooth and nail to defend the company that's ripping them off...

Humans are strange creatures...

Yup, that original Skunk strain is still around, I had the privilege to work with the original breeders and their strains for years.

@amsterdammer man you're lucky to have been part of that scene.  Now that was some REAL  work  as opposed to just hacking two "elite"  plants.

Building strains from the ground up.....
