The most efficient bulbs I've found is the OSRAM VIALOX NAV-T SUPER 4Y series

100 W - 107 lm/W - 10700 lm
150 W - 116 lm/W - 17500 lm
250 W - 133 lm/W - 33200 lm
400 W - 141 lm/W - 56500 lm
600 W - 150 lm/W - 90000 lm

Most of the 250 W on the market produce around 28K lm, so 5.2K lumens is a substantial increase to consider getting a more efficient bulb

Does anyone know any bulbs that would be more efficient?

Yup Sunmaster 600w HPS gives around 95000 lumens when used with sunmaster digital ballast if i remember good

I use 600w Osram Nav-t(son-t plus) 90000 lumens Imo gives best bud and yield

If u want pure quality not quantity buy 600w Sunmaster MH cool deluxe 7200k

lumens mean shite where plants are concerned and par is not far behind. sodium lights bleed mercury onto the plants or into the environment. several available halides have more strength most of the way from yellow to near-infrared than any sodium i've encountered since 1981, when i planted my first crop under hids. the sky in summer has a color temperature of @5500k. uv-b is implicated in the photochemical production of thc. stand alone 400 watt ceramic halides and/or high-frequency pulse start halides on true digital ballasts are about as good as it gets, for now. the best way to use these for maximum production from almost every strain is a whole 'nother topic.

Maybe lumens and Par are not exactly what drives a plant!, but IME more lumens means more bud.

I have ran concurrent grows using sunmaster HPS and Sunmaster halides and what I know for fact is that the extra lumens from the HPS gives far more bud at the end.......... about 30 percent more!!!!!!!!!!!!

The GIB FS extreme by all accounts. 400w- 128k lumen. 600w-200k lumen. But i've tried to find out more info on here but nobody seems to be able to answer any Q's i ask about 'em. They are a German bulb and i can find them for sale in Berlin,Soft Secrets did a real brief artical on them a while ago and said they was good but thats all i got on 'em

128k Phyto-lumen, not lumen. Their 400W's are 58,000 lumens I believe.. probably just an 'enhanced blue' type bulb.

i'd have thought the difference between a 58,000 lumen 400w and a 60,000 would be negligible. the colour band matters more here because plants can absorb a lot more blue light than sodiums put out. bulbs which have enhanced blue spectrums will produce the strongest plants because they are getting more of the blue light that they would otherwise get from the sun.

Just bought a GIB HPS Flower Spectre XTreme 600w

it says +6500 phyto-lm +3.35% on the box

To be honest, it was the one the bloke in the grow shop said....'yep, 600...here ya go' and we just went with it so if anyone who knows anything about them it would be good.

Hi all.
I can find virtually nothing to explain the difference between Lumen and Phyto lumen.
However, on the Sonlight 600 watt lamp specs it states:-

"Product Benefits
High efficiency 600W [>150 lm/W = 90000 lumens 200.000 Phyto-Lumens ]".

So it seems Phyto lumens are more than double the number of lumens.
Whether distance, freq or any other parameter makes a difference I have not been able to assertain yet.
Anyone else know the score????
