Hasta la Vista, Baby! Sweet Seeds Multistrain Comp Grow

153 posts in this topic

Alright fellow growers and smokers, I'm back.  After a somewhat lengthy break from this diary, due to lots of "testing" :smokin: and the death of my previous laptop, i return to you just in time for the smoke reports. :)  Something that went missing last year...

Most of the strains have been jared for over 2 months now, are well cured and have been thoroughly tested the past few weeks. :)   Not much time left in the comp and hope to get all the final reports done by deadline.

Green Poison

What a pleasure it was to return to this strain after 10 years.  GP was the strain i picked from Sweet Seeds during the first comp and they seem to have kept the magic formula alive.   Green Poison is easy to grow, yields well and finishes under 8 weeks with some fantastic tasty buds.  The buds have good density and give of a sweet, almost berry like scent. It is very pleasant and classic.  You do notice the skunk heritage and she is a pleasure to smoke.  Although the smoke isn't quite as sweet as the smell, it is still very enjoyable.  The high that follows isn't overpowering and a good mix between creativity in the head and nice relaxing sensation in the body.  It won't make you paranoid nor lazy  -Unless you over indulge. ;)   Overall, I think GP is a classic and can be recommended to beginners or experienced growers and smokers.  I would say, a solid 7/10 :yep:

Great report on the Green Poison mate. I've grown the CBD version and quite enjoyed it but that CBD seems to make me more lethargic and sluggish than relaxed. I have Green Poison in my seed stash so thanks for the detailed report. It's a good advertisement for the strain, that you've gone back to it after 10 years.

Nice solid looking buds, love the trichome shots :yep:

Great report and some more beautiful pics :yep:

I can't seem to watch your video, age restricted :(

It says by uploader so not sure if you can do something about it, think Delagdo had a few issues.

Congratulations on a great diary, enjoy :)

@jadenugs Thanks for the nice comments. :) Have you tried the ice cool cbd?  It's the only cbd strain i smoked from SS and it was quite nice, not slugish at all and got some great flavour.  If you like cbd strains, perhaps worth a try.

@Shumroom The video was made with the help of the misses.  Prodigy poison soundtrack was my idea though. ;) Don't think she can listen to this track anymore though, as she probably heard it 100s of times during the editing.

Gorilla Girl Fast Version

I have grown the none Fast Version a few times for good reasons and was interested to see how the Fast Version compares to it. From the 2 seeds i got two slightly different looking plants.  One plant had spear headed colas, while the other girl had more egg shaped buds.  The yield was good, as they both were finished in 8 weeks, therefore a week faster then the original and they both had the familiar Gorilla Girl smell.  It is quite distinguishable and strong, with hints of lemon, frankincense, hash and a bit of fuel - very potent.  Buds are very dense and filled and covered in trichomes.   Both also had the familiar taste.  Which is also intense and slightly earthy, hash notes and reminds me a bit of licorice.  I love it!  I find the smoke to be a potent in effect as well.  More of an evening smoke for me, when smoking it, i find myself heading for the couch, where my mind starts wandering of. :alien2::D

I would rate this strain 9/10, but there was an issue that makes me hesitate growing the fast version again - one of the two had hermie issues, which i sadly noticed too late.  This means that one Gorilla Girl FV (the spear headed one) was quite seeded and affected the neighbors a little as well.  What a shame! :( The buds were very tasty, but the seeds were quite annoying and decided to make the best of that plant and turned most of her into tincture and into magical oil. :) But more on that later.  I give a final rating of 6/10, but mostly down graded due to hermie issues.

@Clumsy I've changed the settings on the video now and you should be able to watch it without having to confirm your age. ;)

Sweet Cheese Fast Version

I can never get tired of this strain.  I must have grown it atleast 6 or 7 times and it keeps delivering.  You will find a bit of pheno variations, but the diffence is not really big.  Some will have a slightly more sweet smell and flavour and others will be more musky, skunky.   But they all have that "cheesy" goodness as the base.   They are easy to grow and always finish in 8 weeks.  Personally, i like the range of pheno variation within this strain. Of course, there is always that "special one".  This time, the pheno with stacked calyxes was my favourite.  The other pheno was more compact in growth and buds are also slightly different, but also cheesy.

Like all cheese, the smell will quickly fill the room and can go through baggies. I really enjoy the flavour of this strain as well.  Reminds me of the UK and i simply enjoy that sharp, earthy and noticeable flavour cheese has.  Never gets boring to me.  The high is somewhat powerful and i would consider more indica type.  Nice and relaxed sensation in body and mind.  Overall, really well balanced strain, that keeps returning to my grow room.  I rate this strain 9/10 :yep:

Here the two phenos.  I kept a clone from the left one (stacked calyx pheno) for outdoor and see how she will to in nature this year.

Sweet Gelato Automatic

This was my second time growing this strain.  I was really impressed the first time i grew this auto and didn't disapoint the second time either. :yep:   Probably one of my favourite autos at the moment.  Good yielder with really nice dense buds that are covered in trichs, a powerful high with nice flavour.  Simply ticks all the boxes!  Got two more on the go right now, hehe.

Not very often that an automatic plant really impresses me, but Sweet Gelato Auto seems to have done it.  I choped mine at 10 weeks from germination, but i could have crop them a week earlier if in a hurry.  Very rewarding plant.  The buds when finished have a very pleasant sweet smell with hints of tangerine and fruits.  The smoke is smooth but more intense then the smell - fruity kush alike.  The high creeps on you, as the joints are hard to put down. :)  Quite amazing how powerful these autos have become.  I rate it 8.5/10  This is my top recomendation for an auto!

@Sweet Seeds Apolo Thanks and has been a real pleasure to participate.   I hope to write up final smoke reports within the next couple of hours before the deadline. :sweaty:  Got a few more strains to cover.

Sweet Zenzation (Zkittlez)

It is a wonderful addtion to the catalogue and glad i chose this strain for this grow.  Both plants were fairly similar in appearance and final product. She was easy to maintain, solid buds from top to bottom, good yielder and most of all - some excellent smoke.  The buds are very dense and i would say mostly lemon type of terpenes.  The smoke taste is intense and has less lemon flavour, but sweet and certainly enjoyable.  The effects creep onto you and fairly even between good creativity and slight body relaxation.  A good alrounder that won't knock you down but keep you in a happy mood during your activities.  I rate this strain: 7,5/10 :yep:

Psicodelicia

She keeps coming back into the my grow and for a good reason.   She never seem to disapoint.  Beautiful plant, that has good yield and huge resin count.  I would certainly recommend to any hash, oil and resin maker.

I think i have reviewed her a few times and i recommend this plant to any sativa lover.  She is definitely a mood enhancer.  Although some people say she can be a bit strong at first and some friends have reported having trouble to fall asleep after smoking it. :D

This time i had a very interesting pheno, that i thought wasn't going to perform well, but turned around and became one of the most beautiful plant in this grow - filled with trichs, even on fan leaves.  Psicodelicia buds are rock hard and don't have an overpowering scent, but more subtle and sweet with hints of berry fruits.  The smoke is very smooth and has a very "classic" weed taste.  My number 1 choice for the afternoon and want to be flying high. :yep:  I rate this strain 9/10!

@vince noir rock n roll star  Thanks :v:   Hopefully i can finish the reports before the final wistle.

Red Hot Cookies

This is also a very interesting strain.  As you can see, i had 2 different phenos.  Dark Purple and the other had purple hues (greener).  Both were easy to grow and seemed to be the taller plants in the room.  The dark purple pheno didn't produce buds that are as dense as her greener sister.  Altough the dark purple might look interesting and has its appeal, the other pheno, to me, has performed better.  The reason i say that is because the smoke of the greener pheno seems better in many ways.  Dark purple pheno has that lavender smell and smokes alright, but the greener pheno is more cookies alike with a nice fruity smell on top.  The smoke is also more potent and tastier from the greener pheno.  I would rate the dark pheno 6/10 and the greener pheno gets a 8/10

Black Jack Auto

BJ auto was the first automatic strain that really impressed me. Having been disapointed in the low riders strains, black jack auto really changed my opinion on automatics.  So, it was interesting to return to her after 10 years and see if anything changed.  Once again, Sweet Seeds seem to have kept this wonderful strain true to its origin and she is still a really good automatic.   Perhaps not my favourite now, but a solid strain.   I only grew one seed, but she performed well and still a joy to smoke.  The buds are fairly dense and have a nice sweet fragrance.  I would say sweeter then its photoperiod cousin, but in a similar ball park.  The effects are also well balanced - not too heavy and not too weak.   I would rate her 7.5/10

Crystal Candy Fast Version

I have grown the none fast version a few times and a really nice strain in my book.  I was therefore also interested in the fast version and see how she performs compared to the "slower" cousin.  Sadly i must report that my fast version of this strain did not quite live up its cousin.  I find the original to be more sweet and more potent.  This being said, this fast version isn't a bad plant and will finish under 8 weeks as promised and the buds are solid, covered in trichs and nice in its own way.  But i must have had high expectations, because i like the original so much.   The smoke is slightly inferior to the slower version.  So unless you really want to save a week or two of flowering, i would recommend getting the original Crystal Candy.   I rate this strain 6.5/10  Might be a bit harsh. :g:
