Had a session recently but the temps have been too low there was ice on the pools when I went the day was nice a real mild 14 with good sun but just wasn't enough to get them interested. Prepping for March as we've had a few weeks now 10C or over the bulbs are pushing hard, bought a new rod trying out the Korum Allrounder (12ft 1.5LB TC)  got given some freebies - the grub feeder and some hooklengths so now have that option as well as the method feeder with pellet. Always disliked the cage feeders as they would half empty by the time you got your bait on the bottom but these look tidy, worms do well in them too apparently.

Hello owderb , do you get hassled by pike when you go match /pleasure fishing? Do you ever see big swirls from pike in your swim cutting you off?

Yes of course but my main pond that I fish doesn't have any in fortunately. They are a pain in the arse for my type of angler but on the other hand great to see

Good to hear mate, they actually balance out the fishery so the roach Don't take over the bream , tench and other species. I witnessed my m8 catch a 30 and I've been after one for years. That's fishing for you , any noddy can rock up and catch on the right day.

Better temps now, chose a hell of a day - knew it was going to rain, was supposed to be light which it was at first then the wind came and the rain got heavier (forecast changed from a couple hours light rain to the rest of the day heavy, good old met office!) and sideways. Soaked my bifta which was in my gob a good hour because I was just getting bite after bite and a lot on the drop with no chance to put the rod down. I need to get a keep net and start recording my catches as today was match standard! a lot of 1lb fish coming out, pulled up a brace of lazy bream bigger than I thought because they came up so easy. Finished the day with a nice 4lb mirror.

Got out for a feed of perch. One good feed a year. Through back the real big ones above 12 inches,,

Yes ......I realize you guys catch these up to a couple pounds

Pike opener was good...May one..my birthday,which is always a treat

 

 

Son caught a Rainbow while fishing for pike.. These are escaped Hatchery fish. Dinner non the less

Funniest thing I’ve seen fishing was when me an a pal were carp fishing a big ressie, the wind was absolutely hacking across the lake, I was all set up out the wind in a dugout watching my pal try and set his bivy up in the teeth of the wind.

After watching him struggle for about half hour he finally cracked, steaming into his bivy with feet and fists, smashing it down and parts of it blowing up the bank.

Then, still in a fit of rage, ran up the bank while pulling his t-shirt off and threw himself into a patch of stinging nettles.

He later confessed he was so angry he just had to hurt himself

Excellent session, great location, we braved the storms one lad had his bivvy ripped off him cause he fell asleep with the door open just before the winds hit us, he spent the first night in a shed. Soon fixed it all in the morning for him, I had a 28lb Leny common out and a 20lb common. My youngest lad had a 23lb linear out. Will deffo be going back to this complex

Not done to bad, for my first yrs sea angling. mainly fishing night tides, iv had... bass, eel, thornback ray. Dogfish. (Did I catch dogfish fooking things ) dover sole, whiting and a very rare (for this bit of coast anyways), a small wrass, nothing big though?

The night I had my 42 I had a triple take had a really nice scally 2 tone mirror 29lbs as I was putting it back my right hand rod went so I had my foot on the retaining sling of the 29 the other rod in my hand and then my left hand rod went aswell was shouting to matey in the next swim he came running over released the 29 and I give him the left rod now at this time it's dark but the surface of the water was lit by the moon now the one I'm fighting felt good that was until I see the one he was playing roll on the surface. My reaction ere mate give me that rod u take this one 10 mins later I was in the naughty forty club well chuffed plus a 20+ common
