Dry sieve dissolved in butane?

Hi there, I've had a wee tub (about 3g) of dry sieve bout the place for ages, and just haven't really been bothered with it.

I've just pulled a couple of the girls down and am tempted to run the trim for oil instead of bubble like I normally do.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever topped up the evaporating tray with extra crystals (the dry sieve) when there is still a good amount of butane left with the HoneyBee? OR use the coffee pot method and dose the trim with dry sieve when soaking? I have pressed hash plenty of times - but have only thought of this one recently!

Wanted to know if you people think its worthwhile or have done it before or if I should just keep them separate and make jelly with them?

Cheers!

I'd add it in the extractor tube so it gets filtered, kief won't completly desolve in butane so by adding it to your plate u will still have all the reisue left in your oil. You will still find the oil ends up a bit more pastey even with the filter. It should increase your yield by a good bit tho.

I'd go fer the jelly too, kief makes a good stabilising agent without affecting potency too much, and brings some extra terpenes to the mix.

Always find the combined extracts give a more rounded hit.

@@honey oil - cheers, I was thinking that would be a better plan. think I might try the coffeepot method instead of my HoneyBee just to ensure a good soak (20mins I was thinking? too much, too little?) before filtering and evaporating. Loving the vacuum purge write up too, pity about the cost of gear.

@Glasto - Nice job on those extracts! Really like the Honeycomb Blues on your extracts page.

What's your favourite purging technique that doesn't cost big bucks?

@ nebula_rocks 20 minutes is a very long soak especially if you have bud/trim in the extraction too. 5 minutes imo would be max but id work hard at keeping everything used in the extraction (equipment and material) as cold as possible.

@@honey oil - Cheers!! Just kinda threw 20mins out there without really knowing, seeing as the coffee pot technique would be new to me! I knew you loverly people would keep me right!

Just to let you all know, I ended up running the trim through the Bubble Bags. Can never complain with a Q of it in the box.

I'm just not keen on making oil when I don't have a vacuum setup to purge with. No point making extractions in my mind if its not spotless! Just going to have tp keep my eye out and get a purging setup.
