Can I smoke after having Filling at dentist?

36 posts in this topic

Shit Arnie man, I've had a lot of dentistry done in the past (teeth taken out cos my mouth was 'overcrowded' - how the fuck does that happen ? And a brace with full on headgear. I just lost the plot with it in the end, ragged the fittings for the brace off my back teeth with a micro screwdriver and have never been to a dentist since. But I digress - constantly). Wish you all the best with your new teeth.

My grandpa, only member of my family I ever got on with (he was a manic depressive too) went to the dentist on his 21st birthday and told him to take all his teeth out lol Went back to get his dentures then said to my grandma "That's the last time I'm ever going in that fucking place." :D

Last time I went to the dentist for an extraction, I had a smoke first. Didn't feel a thing and carried on smoking straight after as well, no problems!

I have repeatedly asked for a total extraction, Booj. But they just wont do it these days. Too much money in fillings and other shyte like root canal work. If its wrong, pull it! End of.

Oooooooh, root canal :ouch:

My old man is a proper control freak (he broke his back in a car crash and the hospital had to phone my mum at 2 in the morning, cos he was in traction and they'd given him a serious opiate for the pain, and he'd pulled all the traction weights off and was marching up and down the ward to 'clear his head', she had to talk him down, he could have paralysed himself). He had root canal work done, and again refused proper painkillers. Bear with a sore head ? lol I'd rather have been stuck in a cave with a bear with sore balls lol lol lol

E2A Sorry, I woke up drunk and started drinking again, so apologies for posting shit

I had some root canal work done (sod not having any pain killers) and was given a few injections to numb my mouth as the first one did not work. When I came out the dentist my mouth was still well numb and I sparked a joint (smoking with a numb mouth is just so odd) when I was about half way home I had finished the joint but all of a sudden pulled the worst whitey I have ever had. I staggered back like I been out on the piss, tore my shirt off as I was sweating so much and just about made it in before I collapsed on the bed and kind of passed out for a bit. Maybe its worth finding a comfy chair for your post dentist smoke Arnold mate just in case :smokin:

Just been and had my first filling and was wondering if it's ok for me to smoke? Or smoke a joint? Lips and gums are still numb? Said it will wear off about 7? Am I ok to start blazing?

Anyone in the know at all?

Cheers

:yinyang:

You don't need an anaesthetic for a filling, they don't hurt :smoke:

Last one today, thank FOOK! And I pick up a nice new set of falsies, for my lower gob. For the first time in decades I will look like I have all my teeth! And not like a retired scrum prop or boxer .... :yahoo:

Oh FFS! Trust me to count chickens before they hatch. For some reason, this tooth refused to "Freeze" at all. Despite around 6 fucking injections of local. Thing is, due to other health issues they can't use the stuff that they prefer and which really does do the job. So this fucking tooth is still in, and I have to wait for another appointment with some specialist or other..... and half my face dead as a dodo. Dribbling as I type.

Had a smoke, And now need to lie down. Ho hum.......

I have a needle phobia, I have to put up with aching teeth and the odd abscess with every tooth, it takes months to become loose enough for me to tug it out, only 9 to go now, and no false teeth, i'd vomit putting them in my gob.

Fuck me I wish I had access to a dentist! Kept goin te the emergency surgery for tooth pullin but always got stuck with a feckin trainee with nay strength, as a result all the teeth next to the ones they removed now have enormous gaps and holes where they leavered off them and other random parts of em will occasionally fall off and get crunched up in whatever I'm eatin!

Aside from that and the constant mind numbing pain and the blood everywhere each time I sneeze or cough or chew too hard or brush them!!!

Like Arnie has already alluded to, amphetamines are a bitch when ure a youngster!

when you get toothache remember it will last only a maximum of 2 weeks, anyone can stand it for just 2 weeks.

This is surprisingly true in most cases with my teef too, its just that when the two weeks are up on one side I'm usually a week into another abcess!

Anyone who leaves an abscess untreated is taking a big gamble. A very BIG gamble. Fashion Designer Hugo Boss died from an untreated abscess. Whilst death is relatively rare, it is a possibility. Just depends on how the abscess eventually drains. If it gets into the blood stream (septicemia) you are in serious bother.

Good luck Arnold

Had loads of dentistry over the years including some major implants to replace front teeth. The dentist always says don't smoke for 48 hours blah blah blah....

I'm not recommending that you ignore a dentists advice but I certainly have lit up on the way home afterwards will no ill effects.

Hate to think what I've spent on my teeth over the last 40 years most of which has been spent putting right what my rubbish NHS dentist did to me as a teenager. Did I really need all those fillings done again???

:oldtoker:
