Hi guys, I’ve just tried the paper towel method. Got a good main root from each then switch to peat blocks. Approach 3-4 days. Was using a heat mat as well. I think I either over cooker them or over watered/saturated. Had no further growth after 7 days. Pods looked darker and roots had shrunk hence me thinking fried/rot after I investigated one. 6 lovely skunk XL babies wasted I’ve decide to try the next batch just going straight into small block pots with a coco/perlite mix with draining. Turned off the heat mat as the model I have didn’t have a heat control. With prop lip on to retain moisture. I’ve only slightly soaked the mix. Kept in a dark cupboard. Has anyone had better results using this method?

Does anyone with experience in old beans , like 10years plus know if they tend to take a bit longer to germ? I started a few Monday, as nothing up by Friday I started loads figuring they were no good. So best up the attempts. But I'm gonna fresh them up and see if anything happens still. Any late success from anyone? CheechChong

Hi guys, I seem to be having success with germinating the seeds in my x-stream using RR cubes and 50mm net pots, they have been in 6 days and already go roots showing. My question is has anyone got a tried and tested watering times? I soaked them in rhizotonic (both the RR and seed) before placing them in, the cubes seem to hold quite a bit of water so I cut the time down to 5mins per day and gentle squeeze out the excess water, bit of a pain and I think the next ones will be fed from the top. Now I’ve got a few roots showing should I switch it on to 24/7 feed as I would with clones or will the RR hold too much water.

Hi guys, got a question about germination. Read everywhere it should be done in the dark. But when you have planted several seeds, they don't necessarily sprout the same day. So what you guys are you doing when one or two have sprouted and the others still are in the soil ? You just put the light on without changing anything or do you take the pots with dormant seeds out of the tent ?

Hi, I need some advice please. I tried germinating in soil but with no success after 15 days I have now put a couple of seeds in a glass of water. Each has the beginnings of a taproot that I can see with a magnifying glass. These roots are only 1mm or maybe 2mm right now. Should I wait for them to be a little longer before putting root side down into soil? If so what length should I be seeing before planting them please.

Hey there I bought a White Widow seed, five Lemon seeds and one Amnesia seed from Seedsman seeds. The WW and two Lemons germinated with no problems but the Amnesia failed. I used the same method on each seed - glass of water until the seed sinks then transferred to a paper towel somewhere dark and warm before being transferred to soil. The Lemons were probably the best takers and have sprouted the quickest. My question is should I try and get through to Seedsman to let them know that the Amnesia was a dud or should I just count my loses and move on? I am really happy with the other seeds but I was looking forward to growing the Amnesia Any thoughts are welcome

Im not exactly new but ive also had a long time off. I am completely new to autos though. Basically its important to me to know exactly how long an auto takes from planting to harvesting, and I'm seeing a lot of confusing terms. my question is... How do i know how long autos take, a strain guide might say "flowering 8-9 weeks", or they might say "full life cycle 8-9 weeks" or "blooming stage 55 days" and so on, etc etc etc. I'm confused because they mention flowering or blooming does that mean, for example, a plant might VEG for how ever long, and then, BLOOM for "55 days". How long is veg, How long is bloom with autos, how long is ALL of it? How do i find out how long it takes to PLANT it and HARVEST it? Im sorry if im not making sense, I'm just confused by the difference in terminology I've seen while browsing online.

As a new member I am limited to post so far. Anyway. Been growing a while. But I do have a problem I would like some help with. I have really old seeds I acquired from Afghanistan. Wild grown original afghan cannabis. I brought peony back and had a blast with it. Grew a few plants in my dads greenhouse. Now it’s been a few years and I have just found my old seed box and tried to germinate a few for old times sake. And so far none have popped with various methods. Temp. Humidity. Tissue. Rhizo, gibberilic acid, plant stims, etching, cutting. Hydro peroxide Etc. I have made it my mission and I am determined to bring them back from the dead. Anyone else know of any other ways. I have other seeds and all that. Like I said this is what I want.

I’ve tried about 5 different times over last month to germinate some old seeds I have with paper towel method but not getting any to take off. I’ve germinated these seeds about a year ago no problem but can’t seem to figure out what I’m doing wrong now. I soak about 4-7 in shot glass for about 18-24hr. Then put onto few layers of damp paper towel on a plate. I put them inside a zip lock bag an opened a few times a day for fresh air. Had a couple pop open in the shot glass but never grew tap root in paper towel...left them in paper towels for 8-10 days then one got a lil mold so threw them out..did shot glass again then to paper towel. Tried not to have paper towel so wet this time..none even pop open..took knife/sand paper to few more then soaked..then paper towel an 2 in soil...nothing...been trying for could the seeds have gone bad like that..even tho I germinated a few a year ago? I kept them on heating mat with thermostat set to 78F too..any suggestions would be nice thanks

Hi, I'm a fairly experienced grower but I'm used to using Rockwool. I switched to Root Riot to be more eco friendly but this time not one of my 8 seeds has popped, so what am I doing wrong. I soaked the cubes with water and a bit of root stim and then gently squeezed excess water out (did I sqeeze the oxygen out?) and popped them in, not too deep, and not one of them has popped, it's been 6 days. I've dug them out and put them in a papertowel now but still nthing has happened. Do I give up on them? 8 x Big Bomb seeds

Hi everyone. I have several years experience using 600 and 1000w HPS lights to flower, 400w MH for mums and CFLS for cuttings. I detest the idea of feminised seeds, let alone autos, but have bitten the bullet and am attempting Auto Fem Skittlez from Terp Dogs (apparently). I have settled on using the Black Dog Phytomax-2 600 LED light and am planning on going closed loop. My first problem is starting the seeds off. I have mainly used cuttings, not seeds in the past. When I have used seeds I have created many clones from each seed before ever flowering any of them, so even when using seeds I never actually flowered off a seed, as such. Therefore, I only ever subjected an established seedling to HIDs, never one just sprouted. Now I need to germinate (which I will do in a wet paper towel, inside a plastic bag), then I put them in rockwool blocks, and the blocks into pots of bat guano (House & Garden Bat-Special - Soil and Guano Mix) but then what? Do I stick them straight under the Black Dog LED? Will this be too powerful for them? Any tips on how far to have the LED fixture from the seedlings would be greatly appreciated. Or even if this would hurt/kill them. I have read about the 2 week shock that can happen when we change light types, but I have never seen this. 2 weeks after transplanting a seedling into the flower room it is ready to be "flicked" (12/12). It never seemed to affect them at all. But, this is going from CFL to HPS. I know one of the first suggestions could be to leave these "auto" seedlings under the CFL at first, but they are supposed to be 60 day start to finish, don't wanna stunt mu babies! Does anyone know anything about this?

Being a eager first time grower it's been a very bad start..but I have to laugh! Over the past few weeks I've had a absolute nightmare! 20th July - Started out germinating auto seeds. Soaked for 24hrs and left to germ in rootriot cubes in a plastic prop with a cheap heat mat on the window cill. All the seeds have been stored in their original tube containers then in a box in a box. Lemon Zkittlez Dutch Passion x 1 SAD Sweet Seeds Auto x 1 Super Hash Auto x 1 Green Crack x 1 Sweet Gelato Sweet Seeds x 1 Checked on them on 23rd and nothing. 24th July hottest day of the year. Whilst checking I could see the seeds were cooked. No temp control on the heat mat so the temps hit well over 30*C. Gutted. So I thought right I'd stick with it but add some plastic bubble padding between the prop and heat mat. 29th July - Soaked 3 seeds for 24hrs and put them in the prop. Lemon Zkittlez Dutch Passion x 1 Strawberry Cheesecake x 1 Sweet Gelato Sweet Seeds x 1 Check 24hrs later and saw two had popped - Sweet Gelato and Strawberry Cheesecake -30th July. I was over the moon. Closing my eyes and just thinking about what they'd look like. My new babies...woohoo!! Right lets pop some more..I've got this down!!! Lets do them in damp BB light mix in a small seedling sack. Soaked for 24 hrs could see she had cracked and popped it in the mix about 1cm depth crack facing down. Glueberry OG x 1 Added her to the prop and left for 48hrs spraying the soil every so often. 3rd Aug - Nothing. My other two babies were coming along although slowly. Checked the seeds again and the one in the mix hadn't popped nor had the lemon Zkittlez in the cube. 5th Aug I was impatient and opened the sack to see if anything had happened. The seed looked exactly the same as it did going in but a bit mushy. Dead. By this point I was like I've spent a fortune and if I can't germinate some seedlings what chance have I got with 4 plants? I was thinking maybe this is why I don't have any pets!! OT: A while ago I had two gold fish I won for my neice from the fairground. She only wanted to look at them and not have them as pets. So i bought all the decent kit and took care of them for 2yrs. The other summer it was hot...and I forgot to feed them for 3 days. They were starving and one had taken bites out of the others tail. I fed them flakes which is all I had as I usually feed them pellets. I put a way too much in there thinking they will yam the light flakes. It blocked the filter...and created a film on the top of the water....came back to dead fish. Anyways I digress.... I was checking on both of my babies....opened the prop and it slipped the lid knocked the seedling. Snap. She's just laying there...motionless. I've killed her....quickly tried to save her by giving her a crutch. She looked good. Leaves were fine 24hrs later. Then she left me in the following night and I came back to a shrivelled cheesecake. Gutted. My first living victim. RIP 8 days old. 6th Aug Sweet Gelato is still going...slowly. Bought a heated prop and T5 light to see if it would make a difference 8th Aug. Sweet Gelato is still going...slowly. I was only feeding water and mineral water at that. 2nd sets of leaves on her and fed water only. My mistake as they were getting no nutes at all. 11 days old and was less than 2 inches in height and had two main leaves and two tiny leaves under them that were yellowing. Gave her some very diluted Biosys. No roots coming through yet. One Lemon Zkittle seed left plus the Northern light freebies I received with my orders. Soaked 3 in mineral water and a very diluted mix of Biosys in dark pots for 24hrs. They had all cracked and popped them in riot cubes. Deep breath. I put them the same depth of the other 2 seeds of I'd successfully germinated. 7th Aug - Came back and all 3 had popped...kind of. The relief and excitement! Wow! 48hrs later they were slowly reaching out of cubes...all bloody 4 with the seedling cases attached. FML. 09.8.2019. Checked her for advice and most said be patient as it will fall off soon. It was down to not planting the seedling deep enough for the seed case to be pulled off. 11th Aug - Kept them moist - Yay we have mould. Kept them moist now trying not to dampen them off if not done already. 13th Aug -Mould now gone and they are still reaching for the light. Soaked the last NL auto and popped in the riot cube deeper than normal to hopefully ensure it gets it seed off.I got some tweezers and popped them off. Yay! No!!!!!!!!! All 4 seeds still have their membranes attached. You could see where the tiny cotyledon leaves are trying to pop through. 14th Aug -all 4 are just reaching for the light with no growth due to the membrane still being stuck. 15th Aug - 1 week old and the membrane is still on with the tip going brown. I turn my humidifier on and put the prop lid under it and leave it for 30mins. Attempt to remove the membranes and prise open slightly without damaging. 16th Aug all 4 still reaching for the light but none of the leaves have turned green bar the Lemon Zkittles 1mm size leaves. 17th Aug I have my 2nd living victim. Lemon Zkittles...the last one. RIP. 18th Aug - This morning I have my 3rd victim - NL auto and the last NL auto has not popped at all - 5 days. The first one is looking okay but might just bin it and start a fresh! I may just go with the photo periods as they can take a bit of a bashing! The Sweet Gelato I have now is clearly stunted for nearly three weeks old...although since I've given her BioSys the last week she's jumped on a bit...I want to transfer her to the Oxypot XL DWC I have but want another to go with her that isn't stunted. I'll start a diary soon! Just thought I'd share my nightmare germination issues - it's soo simple to some to get this basic process right but just a slight drop or jump in temps or humidity seems to screw me over lol. Anyways just waiting for some fresh seeds or may go with the G13 Maltezerz photoperiods I have. With it being my first experience any mistake is a lesson learnt!

Hi all, didn't really know which bit to post this is in as I'm having a few problems. I have posted before and @blackpoolbouncer gave me some great advice but I'm still having problems. The background: I grew successfully in coco coir, starting my seeds in rockwool, for about 2 years then I switched to hydro and the wilma system. I had one successful grow and then decided to switch from rockwool to root riots due to rockwool being bad for the environment. I grew 8 Barney's Farm Blue cheese from seed using root riots and there were no issues. Then the problems began,. I bought 8 Big Bomb seeds, started them in a prop, did exactly like before, put them in the root riot and none of them even germed. I posted here and got some great advice which I followed. This time one out of 8 popped up. The others didn't even germ. I decided to try different seeds so I bought some Super bud and this time decided to try the paper towel method. All of them germed just fine and I very carefully transferred them to the root riots, careful not to overwater as I suspected this was the issue last time. They all popped up just fine and began to look good. I gave them quarter strength nutes. Then 3 of them flopped over and died (I'm guessing dampening off) and the remaining 5 are still upright but have completely stopped growing. They are under an 85watt CFL. I'm tearing my hair out here. It's like I'm destined not to grow anymore and I've lost my confidence. I still have the first Big Bomb which is a seedling now but it doesn't look super healthy. I'll post a pic ina bit. it has healthy new growth but the old leaves are yellowing and the stem looks very thin. any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to go back to rockwool I think. I have 8 more Superbud seeds. Wtf am I doing wrong people?

Hi Folks, I'm having some issues with slow growth. And I'm noticing a pattern. I find that generally that seeds that sprout within 3-4 days seem to continue growing quickly, usually pushing out their 3rd set of leaves some time around the 8-10 day mark, whereas seeds that take 5,6 or 7 days to sprout seem to take forever to get to the same stage. My seeds can't be old as the strain has just been released this year, temps are fine, seeds weren't over watered and the soil mix was very light. Humidity may have been a little low but this has never really affected things too much in the past. Banging my head against a wall here trying to figure this one out and no longer have the time to restart the grow. Seeds are Sweet Gelato Auto - just over a week from sprouting and seemed to have almost completely stalled - although seem healthy enough. Any thoughts?

Ill start off by saying it's not only my first time growing weed but my first time for growing anything by seed. I have done some research before this, and although seeds normally germinate quickly, some can be slower, from reports even up to 14 days*... fair enough. Started off with them in peat pellets, 3mm of water at the bottom of the tray, kept at that level* to keep them hydrated but not too wet, in a dark place till they sprout, before moving to light. Anyway, the rest sprouted. Except one, its been 12 days in the peat pellet, after having a look at it, it's not damaged in anyway, however it hasn't even cracked/sprouted or anything. Its just the way it came. Can seeds just be dead on arrival? I took it out of the peat pellet, soaked it in just water for 12hrs then sandwhiched it between damp toilet paper, on a window sill above a radiator, so far its been another 48hrs and nothing. I understand there is an acceptable loss rate, should i lose faith in the little guy? Is there anything else i can do to try and help the welp? Or have i done something to prevent it from germinating in the process. -Thanks in advance and keep it civil and on topic please, newbie here

Evening all, started my first 3 seeds 28th of July with 12 in water until sunk and another 12 under water, I then put them in paper towel and wet them and left them for 24hours. 31st I out them in root riot cubes and they died. My downfall was watering them every day also leaving them (during the heatwave) outside which i've learnt will drown them with the moisture. See pic off one of the sprouts that came up and dropped Ordered a second batch after I thought I learnt and planted 11th Aug 3 hours until they sank and removed so they didn't drown and put in paper towel. Small taproots started to grow by the 13th so I then out them again into root riot cubes but this time in a airing cupboard between 21-28 degree mainly at 26 with no watering or light By the 19th I had nothing and as I planted them with the cube cut open I had a look to find the taproot hadn't changed from the 13th On the 19th I just put them in coco soil as when I squeezed the cubes I found a lot of water coming out as when I when I stared them I sealed them up to prevent them from drying up So are my seeds dead? Can germination process pause? Please read uk420 guidelines.
