PH Meters... calibration

I wondered if any wise man would be able to help me with tonights issue!

I have bought a new ph meter that says it has automatic calibration with one touch.....

The trouble the instructions state I should dip the pen in a test solution but I was never given one with the pen and the guy said I could use my ph down?

Could anybody explain how this is done or another alternative for a test solution.....

apologies if I'm in the wrong section and thanks in advance

Thanks for the advice, was sort of hoping you'd send me to my cupboard for a bottle of vinegar but as you aren't suggesting it I assume that it's  another bad way to do things... back to the shop it is for me
