'Lost' all my plant foods

So, strangely, my bottles of plant nutrients have all disappeared. We did a massive clear out here a week ago and im half wondering if my girlfriend threw the box with all those into the skip with everything else by accident. Anyways, i've ordered more but it got me thinking, does anyone make 'homemade' nutrients? If so, what do you find useful?

I've always produced my own organic weedkillers etc due to my job, but it got me thinking whether or not it was both possible and economical to make some nutrients to use, aside froma standard compost of course which i have to hand at all times. Just interested and was having a think, any input welcome. (for hydro and soil)
