      Most likely looking at it. Used for moisture retention so it will feel spongy. Could also be a growth of Actinomycetes. Fungus-like bacteria (filamentous), light grey / whitish colour. Assists in the breakdown of organic matter to form good compost.    Both are perfectly acceptable to find in your compost.

      Anyone know what this is? Nasty mushy shit  I just found in my soil  
       
        apart from this weird finding I like to think my first grow is going nicely    pic doesn’t show but I can see the buds just starting to form       Canopy temps are reading 28.6c not sure if this is to hot?? I don’t have one of those homemade cardboard covers on it like some people make so I guess it’s going to read as hot as it can do with the light shining down onto it 
        room temps are 25.7c .. normally sit around this temp 25-26c   
        so far so good me thinks
