alright then, i have been reading through grobags threads and have been inspired by the legend himself to post my method at a qwiso run. this is only my 3rd time at qwiso so hopefully by posting this not only will it help others thinking about doing some qwiso but i hope to get some tips myself.

BE CAREFULL, ONLY DO IN WELL VENTILATED AREA - AND NO SMOKING!!!

what you will need to get started...

some iso propanol alcohol
some trim/popcorn/bud
coffee filters
couple of sieves
plates or preferably pyrex dishes
empty pickle jar

okay here is the initial goods...

Attached Image

the trim/bud...

Attached Image

squeeze into empty jar...

Attached Image

add iso level with trim...

Attached Image

now it is time to quickly get the lid on your jar and shake the jar like a polaroid picture for 30secs - i actually time my 30 secs from the moment my iso is in the jar. dont let it go longer than 30secs or apparently it may take some potency out of the oil (?)
after 30secs are up then quickly grab the other sieve and pour trim with iso out of jar and over sieve so the liquid then goes through coffee filter and into dish - because i only have so many hands i couldnt get pic of this part!!

the liquid going through filter into dish...

Attached Image

at this point i can now go and head through to the back room for a joint and let the stuff run through naturally and check back in 10mins

lol

okay, joint finished so time to go and check on it...

Attached Image

thats fine, as you could see all iso has run through and left all the crap on filter, time to move the dish away for better ventilation - i put them next to an oscilating fan blowing towards open window

on with the 2nd wash (this is optional)...

Attached Image

same method as before but here is a pic with me straining it this time...

Attached Image

notice the difference in colour this time around??...

Attached Image

the two washes left to be evaporated overnight...

Attached Image

will give an update next few days on the scraping process

lol

okay then, here's some picks of the evaporation stage

about 18hrs later...

the first wash...

the second wash...

as you can see the second wash aint evaporated yet - i was also doing other qwiso washes with different trim/bud and i will always just put the second wash in the same dish so that is why its not fully evaporated yet... not long though people!!! :wassnnme:

and here is pics of them dry...

Attached Image

the first wash...

Attached Image

the second wash...

Attached Image

the second wash is actually looking quite good as it usually looks alot darker than that once it is dry - it may well be due to the buds that i used was better quality than in the past, not too sure but find out once its smoking lol

i've not much time for the scraping process but that will be done tonight when the boys come down for a smoke - grab a plate lads :wassnnme:

:smoke:

on with the scraping process now, i will only show the first wash as it is just the same method i use for the second wash. grab a stanley blade for this part - it'l get messy so i would advise latex gloves (not that i had any, though i wish i did!)

start by scraping together the middle of the dish...

Attached Image

then gather all the oil from the sides using a curved craft blade if possible...

Attached Image

scrape all oil together...

Attached Image

place on mylar and put in freezer for a half hour or so...

Attached Image

when oil is not so runny - but still sticky - roll around with fingers to make a ball...

Attached Image

put back on mylar and store in freezer till you feel like getting blasted!!!...

Attached Image

this little guide is by no means the only way to make qwiso but as i mentioned before i am quite new to it and any hints and tips on the way i have done it would be much appreciated

Pretty easy isn't it

Lucky I can get pure alcohol from a friend.

I once cleaned my grinder with it, metal one, got a nice nugget, it got me totally trashed lol

I'd be tempted to follow Mr Mullen, leave it longer, as the THC etc will be sitting in the alcohol for hours anyway. Can't see it effecting anything. Alcohol is very gentle and clean.

I intend to this with ALL my trim from this grow, after a quick shake to get some dusthash anyways, I think its an excellent method of getting all the THC out, bit like cannabutter etc...I think though it needs more than 30secs and shake.

I even got impatient and lightly heated my sauce of alcohol at about 60C for 30mins to evaporate it. One of those need a hit now moments.

I add that the stuff on my grinder was 2years old :) I found the grinder in a box had been heavily used when I grew my haze was plastered with resin...The effect was different than the plant matter, but even after 2years it was potent.

hi mrm, i have heard of leaving trim in for longer but at the same time i have also heard conflicting stories about it reducing the quality of the oil.
i'm quite new to the oil process though and i'm by no means a chemist :B): but if your oil is coming out nearly black then it sounds similar to the way my second wash comes out. thats assuming you just do the one wash mrm

hi tweatiepie, i think that the idea of leaving the trim to soak in iso longer comes from just doing the single wash - that is you will not be doing a second wash for any remaining good stuff so leaving the trim soaking longer will, i assume, have more time to extract the goodness.
by doing two washes i have found that i seem to end up with 2 grades of oil - the first wash which is stronger but less quantity and the second wash which is larger quantity wise but less quality (still good smoke though) lol
