Thanks @Wacky Wardrobe - they're brilliant, and completely new to me.... she is so captivating.

ETA

Saw a bloke in town other day playing one of those... that thing that's not the guitar. Stood and watched, he was really good.

Semi-tanget: Went out with a Spanish woman long time ago, and she shared a house with others latin, both European and South American.... There was a woman she lived with that was very trained in a form of Flamenco, I forget the details but I'll never forget when she did it in the front room.... She was from Seville, I think, and the form she did was much softer than that stampy (cool) style I associated with it. (it's all fuzzy now, but wow).

Reminds me a bit of this, hows she's moving here.... although from a different part of the world.

Hammered dulcimer.

I saw someone busking with one in Budapest. It's a popular instrument there.

There are probably lines to be drawn between flamenco and the music and dancing of the Moors and their time in Spain.

The Ottomans pushed up into Hungary too.

Cultural cross pollination from the invading hordes of Muhammadans there too perhaps.

@Wacky Wardrobe Yeah man, had vague thoughts along similar lines. That cross pollination shows, from my ignorant perspective anyway.

Thanks for feeding me the term, I was going to ask the fella playing it the name but he was in full flow and I was short of time; bourbon was the goal, not drifting off to the buskers (can't help it though lol )
