      I think side lighting can be really beneficial, ......BuT,....you need to have the following, to get the best from it, imho.   a) bigger plants. b) room at the sides to light them effectively   If your plants have less than a couple of feet of actual plant that is budding, it would be a waste of time, just use them over the top as additional lighting, but if they are bigger, then definitely, you will notice a difference. i did some side lighting a couple of grows back, and noticed a big difference in the lower shitty buds, they were solid and much bigger than normal, but saying that the plants had about 4 foot of actual budding sites...

      Just a thought could you not use them for a propagation set up, or keeping a mother plant on the go. Spares are always handy in case something catastrophic happened to your main light mid grow always handy to have a back up if they worst were to happen.
