I try to grow the roots on a bit in an aeroprop - they're then much easier to transplant - usually works a treat

Rootit cubes are best to start them, then straight into pebbles, rockwool is the devil's own, sack the stuff off mate it's nothing but trouble. Make sure there's a good rootball before going into the system, you're looking for roots spread across the pot not just one or two places
Puffdiddy
@QQ710 That’s great - I get it - I’ll be doing some clones soon, the ones in there now were started from seed- I’ve got 5 other strains I’m bringing on in another tent - my plan is to take a few cuttings into the aerocloner and then use the clones right into the V system - I’ve got some seeds in sponges now though I may try and open them up and get them in some perlite for a few days then I could get them into the pebbles and right into the autocloner I guess ! Can you bring seeds on in the same way ? Edited March 6, 2022 by Owderb
Puffdiddy
Thanks buddy- that’s awesome - honestly I’m glad you have both said that - as soon as I touched the stuff I was like “fuck me this is nasty” it’s all I knew… thanks again for the tip - Edited March 6, 2022 by Owderb

BUT - last time I did it I left the seeds in a wet tissue far too long (7days, forgot) and they were too weak to progress in the aeroprop and they died after a week - time before I had 100% success with seeds in the aeroprop. Below - all were germinated in the aeroprop.

Nice work mate - that’s marvellous

I put the seeds in a wet dark tissue for a few days till they have a tap root then insert them onto the foam collar. The spray pump is on a timer - 5 secs per minute - I've never top fed.

Awesome - I want to try that right NOW !! I start seeds straight into a rootit cube, if they don't germinate just fish the seed out and reuse the cube. Starting in tissue risks damaging the fine root hairs and they're prone to drying out. Top watering for me using feed rings, start to finish...on the left is in flower, the others on the right are yet to appear, they will be watered from the black feed pipes, one spout in each pot
Puffdiddy
@stu914 I like it - are you just top feeding these through the baskets to drain ? Or are they going into something? Edited March 6, 2022 by Owderb Please use the @function. Theres no need to keep quoting. Thanks
stu914
@Puffdiddy That's an old washing up bowl which drains back into my diy dwc (now defunct and pressed into service as a res) Purely by chance the drain fits perfectly into the 100mm hole in the lid where the mesh pot used to sit. Maxijet 1000 pump on a timer feeds the plants...every 12 hours to start then every 45 mins 24/7 once established... have a look in my gallery and you'll see some examples of how it works.
