Best way to make ice? lol

Am serious, can I fill Tupperware with water and use bigger blocks of ice or I'd be better to buy ice bags?

Another decent drying method, press each grade of hash into a block and stick it back in the freezer. Grate over baking paper when it's solid enough to handle, i wear gloves coz hash finger is rank lol

@Herbal Kint I have a large collection of old Chinese takeaway tubs,

they come in handy for lots of different things.

Just a couple of centimetres in each tub then freeze,

once frozen transfer them into a plastic bag so you can refill the tubs repeatedly,

until you’re happy you have enough ice :)

Make sure not to make the ice too thick or you’ll need an ice pick/sledgehammer lol

wouldn’t you @Revivelol

Thanks for your input @Whortleberry :D

All right, found plastic ones for a single use.

I got 3 packs, pack has 240cubes in so its 720 cubes. Is that enough or I should get more?

Also I'll go with Frenchy method as recommended, can I use 20L pots and remove bottom of pots to get babuska alike set of pots that fit in each other? I have no idea where you get that bottomless pots from

I'll use this amount of top notch trims plus I'll top it with 2 ounces of buds.

I guess it's better to have more ice than you need,

then you can use the remainder to make some nice big mojitos ;)

I'm not sure about the amount,

I think it might depend on your tap water temperature,

I know that mine is still fairly cold in the morning.

Is that fresh frozen or dry trim?

I only did a couple of pulls,

as I had problems with the washing machine :wallbash::wallbash:

The green material has now been put in the pressure cooker(my largest pot) with some coconut oil on a low heat.

I intend to turn it off once all of the oil melts,

then I'll fire it back up tonight once the smell is less of an issue ;)

Once the hash is 100% dry(in a week or so) I'll mix it with my first run and have a go at pressing it with my Pyrex rolling pin.

Finally you get to play with the washer @Shumroom looks like it's done a decent enough job..what issues you had with it now?

Starting to wonder if there worth the faff.. the bit in the last pic looks tidy bro :yep:

I need to do a big run i think, first through the screens then straight into a bucket of ice for a bubble run..I cant stand the cleaning up afterwards so been putting it off :yinyang:

Oh mate what a fucking episode from Mr Bean makes hash lol

The first run of about 8 minutes or so,

I went to empty the water into my bags/bucket and the hose was kinking up and not allowing any flow,

this is because I didn't use a 90° angle to connect the hose to the drain.

So with some fiddling around to get the hose unkinked,

It came loose as I hadn't made the jubilee clip tight enough so as not to crush the plastic drain piece.

Cue the contents of the machine now dripping through my fingers,

I managed to grab the bucket and balance the machine allowing it to drain mostly into the bucket,

but I did end up with wet socks and towels on the floor.

After refitting the hose I turned it on,

It still runs but will have to dry out before the drive belt will stop slipping.

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't removed the original hose lol

A wee revisit to this thread :)

I’ve suffered a little mould recently :(

I was gonna make some BHO until I remembered that I already have plenty of Isopropyl Alcohol in storage :D

So today I’ve stuffed the recovered bits and pieces from the mouldy buds into a 3l Kilner jar and stuck it in the freezer.

I’m not using anything that looks too dodgy,

just the bits that look fairly unaffected.

I’ve also filled a Morrisons paper bag with trim and stuck this in the freezer too,

along with about 11l of 99% ISO Alcohol.

I’ll probably use just over a litre of alcohol to wash the jar of buds,

the rest of the alcohol will be available to wash the bag of trim,

which I’ll put into a large black plastic bucket with a lid.

I’ll let you know how I get on :)

Today I have taken the bits out of the freezer:

2 x Morrisons bags full of trim,

1 x 3l kilner jar with rescued buds,

11l of 99.9% Isopropyl alcohol.

I also made use of a 30l bucket as well as a 5 US gallon bucket,

both with lids :)

A 16cm sieve and some disposable blue cloths.

Finally a pair of gloves designed for working at sub zero temps ;)

Please note that I’m making ISO not QWISO.

The big difference between the two,

is the length of time the material is in contact with the alcohol,

this will be used inside joints and also mixed with coconut oil.

Technique:

I first added the single litre of alcohol to the kilner jar and shook vigorously for roughly a minute.

Then I was able to lodge the sieve(lined with 3 layers of cloth) inside the 5 gallon bucket,

so I could pour the contents of the kilner jar into the sieve.

I gave the cloth a gentle squeeze before chucking it back in the kilner jar with another litre(approximately) of alcohol.

This was shaken for about another minute and again poured into the freshly lined sieve,

this was squeezed as hard as I could,

then stuffed into a potato ricer and squeezed again to get as much alcohol out as possible :D

Next was the 30l bucket of trim.

I poured 10l of alcohol over the trim before sealing the lid tightly and gave a good shake for a couple of minutes,

then I gently poured the alcohol through the lined sieve inside the 5 gallon bucket.

The sieve did fall into the bucket a couple of times,

so the contents will need to be filtered again before the evaporation stage :)

I’ve stuck another 10l of alcohol in the freezer to do a second wash/rinse of the big bucket later tonight or tomorrow.

I’ll update again when I start the reduction/evaporation stage

Stay safe.
