Hello there,

I hope you're comfortable,

make sure you have a joint handy or have filled your favourite vape ready with some fine herb :bong:

I don't claim to be a master hash maker.

I am learning in public,

hopefully I'll be able to produce some top shelf hash right from day 1,

but I suspect that might not happen lol

Much more likely I will get something usable the first time around,

hopefully making improvements over time as I gain experience.

I've previously used a hand shaken hash making tubs,

you've probably seen them,

they're about the size of a big tin of dog food.

Loads of work to get a poor result.

I think I've still got a wee pollen press somewhere,

but that won't be used this time,

unless I'm mistaken lol

I have dabbled with solvent extraction,

my favoured methods are to make QWISO or Canna-butter/coconut oil.

It's been a while since I last made BHO so I might have a go at that again at some point,

i've got some good gas stashed away :D

But this time around I'm having a go at making my first run of BubbleHash.

I had hoped to have the hose on my portable washing machine replaced before doing this but that hasn't happened yet,

so this was just mixed by hand :(

I've got a 5 bag set of 5 Gallon Bubblebagdude bags(other brands are available),

220 micron 160 micron 120 micron 73 micron down to 25 micron.

After filling the bottom of a 30l bucket with some ice,

then emptying 4 small paper bags full of mixed quality leaf trim(some sugar leafs absolutely covered in trichomes and some larger fan leaves with less coverage) which had been in the freezer over a week.

I then added some of my very cold tap water and then another layer of ice on top,

followed by a bit more water.

I stuck the lid on and rolled myself a spliff to smoke whilst waiting on everything becoming cold and wet.

large.P1250001.JPG

I had already stacked the bags in the bucket in order from smallest in first,

working up to the 220 micron bag last of all.

I know you can only see two bags but trust me there are 5 :)

large.P1250002.JPG

I forgot to say that for ice,

i half filled(approximately) some takeaway tubs with council pop and froze them up,

then chucked the ice pucks into a freezer bag and refilled the tubs a couple of times.

Here's the contents of the bucket just before I started mixing it up.

large.P1250003.JPG

Next after mixing for about twenty minutes I grabbed most of the ice out of the bucket and put it into a spare bucket,

then I poured the remaining contents into my Yellow bucket as seen above.

When I started pulling the first bag I was mildly disappointed.

large.P1250008.JPG

But then I remembered that this bag wouldn't be the best quality,

so I don't really want to see a lot in this 160 micron first pull.

large.160MicronPull1.JPG

This is the same 160 micron 1st pull,

but now it's a little drier(about an hour later maybe).

large.160MicronDrier.JPG

This is just a closer look at the 160 micron.

large.160MicronCloseUp.JPG

This his is the 120 micron 1st pull

large.120MicronPull1.JPG

Same 120 micron 1st pull after drying out a little.

large.120MicronDrier.JPG

Here's a close up of the same 120 micron 1st pull.

large.120MicronCloseUp.JPG

Here's the 120 micron on the left and 160 micron on the right for comparison.

large.160And120MicronTogether.JPG

Next up is the 73 micron bag before scraping with my non serrated butter knife.

large.73Micron.JPG

73 micron 1st pull.

large.73MicronPull1.JPG

73 micron 1st pull after drying out somewhat.

large.73MicronDrier.JPG

A little closer up of the 73 micron 1st pull(I'm not sure how that bit of leaf got in there, it was easily removed).

large.73MicronCloseUp.JPG

This is the 73 micron and 120 and 160 micron first pull for comparison.

large.73And120And160Micron.JPG

Now we're getting down to the last bag,

it's the 25 micron bag this time.

large.25MicronPull1.JPG

This is a slightly different image to the one above but I couldn't see properly at this time(when editing my photos).

large.25MicronPull1a.JPG

The 25 micron 1st pull after losing some of it's moisture.

large.25MicronCloseUp.JPG

25 micron 1st pull close up.

large.25MicronDrier.JPG

The 25 micron at the top,

with the 73 micron on the left bottom,

120 micron bottom middle and the 160 micron on the bottom right.

large.25And73And120And160Micron.JPG

Here's the same as above but just after some drying has occurred

large.Pull1.JPG

The the material in the 30l work bucket was topped up with a little extra water to make the mixing a little easier,

i didn't need to add anymore ice.

I gave the bucket another 20 minutes or thereabouts or mixing this way then that way,

getting some good cyclone action going in each direction.

So by this time I had too much water in my work bucket to be able to pour it all into the Yellow bucket,

the bags had magically become stacked in order again lol

So I poured roughly half the contents of the work bucket into the bags again.

This is 160 micron pull 2

large.160MicronPull2.JPG

This is 160 micron pull 1 on the left and pull 2 on the right for comparison.

large.160MicronPull1And2.JPG

Next up it's the 120 micron 2nd pull

large.120MicronPull2.JPG

************some images missing************

This is the 25 micron bag on the 2nd pull before gathering.

large.25MicronPull2.JPG

25 micron 2nd pull.

large.25MicronPull2a.JPG

This is how things looked by the time I'd finished the second pull of the bags.

large.Pull2.JPG

This is how things looked after the 3rd pull of the bags.

large.JobComplete.JPG

For clarification,

there was no mixing of material in between pull 2 and 3 of the bubblebags.

Pull 3 was because my work bucket was a 30l bucket and the bubblebags are 5 gallon(20 litres),

so I did half at a time.

The hash can sit overnight before I start messing about with it,

i'll be breaking it up to allow as much water to evaporate as possible.

I hope you enjoyed watching my first BubbleHash run :)

I'll update with more pictures as the hash dries and then eventually gets rolled.

Comments and criticism equally welcomed.

@Shumroom looking good mate..you got a decent return there tbh.. what was you mixing it up with dude? I used a paint mixing paddle in a drill first but feel i got a cleaner run when I mixed it by hand :yep:

hopefully the hose comes soon and you can get the washer up and running, at least it will take some of the work out of it :)

Good stuff brother :yinyang:

Cheers @Revive :D

I just used my old wooden porridge spoon for mixing by hand :)

It was a pain in the ass and lower back lol

But it did give me full control over the amount of energy that I was putting in to it.

The hose for the washing machine can take it's time getting here now,

It'll take me a wee while to collect enough trim to be worth running.

Although now I've got most of the equipment and half an idea what to do,

I might just have to try hashing an entire plant next time,

after freezing the whole thing at the time of harvest.

I forgot to mention previously that I have kept a hold of the wet trim from this hash run,

for making some cannabutter from it.

Looks good buddy!

When I had my washing machine kit (it came with some bags that are long dead now) it came with a metal sieve. I use the back of a tablespoon to push the resin glands through the sieve, they come out like a nice fluffy brown sugar. It seems to really help the drying process I find.

Just a thought :)

@Shumroom

Top job.

I've yet to replace my hose and tbh I've not found any issue. I just flush with lots of cold water. I agree it is best practice to have smooth and I will eventually change it but it's not critical imo.

Fresh frozen  for the win! It's worth the effort.

Oh is leave it a lot longer than 24hrs before you touch it mate. Mine can take 2 days and that's running it through the sleeve and sitting it on kitchen towel with paper on top.

It's shit when it's pressed to early, my mate did it and it will never dry properly after its been pressed.

Thanks

Did you not loose some of the hash in the seive?

Or did you just bash it with a spoon to release it?

Mercury buckets,

sorry autocorrect merci beacoup

When I was gearing up for this I was watching some Frenchy Cannoli RIP,

but yootoob threw up a video about changing the hose,

so I ordered one and the diameter was too small,

even after heating it in hot water.

By this time I had cut the original hose off,

so I was committed to replacing it lol

Fresh frozen,

this is one more reason I need to get my yields up on my growing :D

Much appreciated,

I know that you've probably been around long enough to have seen it done well and poorly.

I appreciate that you can no longer partake in combustion or vaping :(

but at least you know that you're medicine has been grown with the care and love it deserves.

You doing your best squishy face impersonation?

I hope you have a water resistant keyboard lol

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it once the rolling process begins,

then I should start to get an idea of the smells from it.

Leave the cat alone lol

I've never smoked bubble hash, can't wait to try this for myself. Doesn't look too complicated, even for me :D

If you can set up the the kit you've got going,

then you'll have no problem with it :)

It's been a while since I last had some bubblehash,

people don't go around offering up this quality of hash in my world lol

No worries,

when I mentioned messing around with it today,

I just meant that I'd be going over it with a knife/razor blade just to expose as much of the interior as possible to help with the drying process.

One of the last things I'd want after the time and effort,

would be a piece of mouldy hash in six months time :(

Thanks very much to all of you for the kind words

I'm off to have a look at the hash again before I make myself some food lol

It does leave a bit, same with the bubblebags though. It's pretty good reallyas the next time you come to make it there is already some in there. I usually get a good gram or two from the bubblebags, it's like a little bonus before your next run.

  • 1 month later...

I still haven't done anything(sample or process) with the hash I made.

I'm planning to do another run next week.

This time it will be with the washing machine,

as I believe I've now got the right size hose for it :D

If I write it here I'm committing myself to get something done lol

There are now 2 paper bags of trim in the freezer :D

I've made a load more ice slabs.

I'll have a look at attaching the new hose to the machine tonight.
