Organic Jim
And now for something completely different. Think Different. Day 64 from seed. Seems to prefer a pH of 5.5 to 5.7 and is starting to put on the buds now. The 5 longest buds are around 12" long, the other 4 are about 9" She's looking to be huge upon finish. Behold...
Organic Jim
The other T.D. is literally 1/2 the height of the biggun, her buds are small but very chunky. No real smell from either TD yet, just really fresh and green still. Maybe 3 weeks more? And a nice orange shot of the ladies at home. You can really see the size difference here! I plan on tying the big girl down after the Taigas have gome later. Cheers folks OJ Edited May 15, 2012 by Organic Jim
DutchPassionTony
wow - a room full of bud there Jim, stunning photo's of it all. I hope that Taiga tastes as good as it looks. You may get some nice scissor hash from the Taiga chop tonight, if so enjoy it!. I would love to see a pic of the big Taiga with the fan leaves removed - pure bud ! That tall Think Diff is incredible and it will only get fatter, it may end up with the biggest yield of them all. One other advantage of an occasional auto grow is that you can be germinating some traditional varieties while you are flowering the auto's in the same tent. That last Think Different will look insane in a week ! beautiful grow room and skills. Great work James, sir.
Organic Jim
DAY 66 Harvest Day for Taiga Hold on to your hats folks, here comes a flurry of photos depicting the beginning of the transformation of a plant to a stash. I'll incorporate a smoke report of the buds I already smoked too. Helmets on chaps, and chocks away! This is small Taiga, with leaves on. And with larger leaves off.... Very attractive buds, nicely purple on the tips. Lots of green and a touch of gold, rich deep orange hairs. The harvesting smell was really fresh and 'Dutch skunky', the wife said I smelled of Amsterdam when I came down for a break!

Organic Jim
Now the description of the tester buds. field notes verbatim after a big neat spliff. Really good skunky, classic weed taste. Eyes red and droopy eyelids. Colours really bright. Trees making puppet show.* Like Amsterdam weed tastes. Like bought weed used to taste. Twitchy vision, immersive. *The trees I could see were blowing around and looking like a crowd of bouncing Fraggles and Muppets. I watched this, chuckling for about ten minutes. The smells from the chopping were thus; Fruit and pepper, tropical crush, cress. Mango, Mustard and Mint. I got some nice budshots of the harvest as well, here you go.... Some roots in some coco coir
Organic Jim
And finally, the haul itself with the tools of transformation for scale. This is the last you'll see of Taiga until she's dried and ready for a-jarrin' Looks like a good couple of oz. Thanks for reading and until the next "thrilling" installment of Jim's Competition Diary.... Goodbye.

Organic Jim
Hi there chaps, glad you're all enjoying the Taiga chop shots. I smoked some with one of my 2 smoking chums last night and this is what he had to say... Some feedback on that miraculous green.. Smell wise in an unsmoked state, well I'd say "smells like the mid 90's" is as good as anything.. It has that original skunky - sweet earthy aroma.Once ignited and washed around the mouth palette has a real nice roasted earthy almost nutty taste. Overall : A delicious treat for the senses and an incredible 'up' happy heady high.. Took me back 15 yrs. Nice. "Smells like the mid 90's" classic quote J, thanks! I gave some to my other smoking friend as she smokes baccy with hers and wanted another opinion. Onto the Think Differents then. All looking very nice I must say. These are shots of the smaller plant, getting very stocky chunky buds. She's really shiny too! The leaflets look wet they're so shiny!
Organic Jim
Here's Big Bertha, the powerhouse of mighty buds. I tried to tie her down but she fought back and overpowered me. It took 3 attempts and one shout for help, but I got there in the end! 3 very long buds. Approx 30cm long. The whole thing. When in the tent, the lamp hangs roughly above the centre of the plant, about 8" from the closest bud. I can't get the lamp any higher and the plant has no more space to lie down in. A human male forearm and "thumbs up" signal, for scale and to indicate that all is well.
