Day 29 bloom.

Alright peeps, sorry for the long delay in updating. Crazy hours at work and no time for myself so I'm struggling to keep up with diaries.

Plants are doing ok though. Low wattage and low temps but they look happy enough. Purps threw out 3 or 4 balls which I think was caused by too much light intensity or possibly a couple of waterings when I didn't have time to warm the water up  She seems ok now though, I've not seen any more for the past few days.

Light intensity and hunger faded the tops on some of my plants so the lamp was raised as high as it will go minus ratchets, and I added some liquid feed to green them up a bit. Day 21 after the stretch I turned the red up full and this read 303w on the plug in meter. Next day I turned the blue down to 270w and it's been there since. Top dressed with 15g of guano to each pot on day 21. Since then I gave them a break from seaweed and gave them 3 feeds of 1/4ml plant aid, 1ml runzyme and half ml Intense bloom. Their last feed was 1/2 ml/L plant aid only and the other plants seem to be greening back up so I'll start notching the lamp up again soon and see what happens. They also had a one off Epsom salts feed on day 16. They're still drinking 1.5L every two days. Next top dress I might up the dose as I'm trying to get away with no liquid feed, as a learning curve for when I start using the blumats. Speaking of which, I'm half set up with a timber frame stand, an upside down storage box and my res on top. That's as far as I got cause I found the balls on the Purps and also my Cherry Pie so don't wanna set the rest up yet, for ease of getting the plants out for checking over. I've been removing 4 fan leaves a day from each plant for the past few days since I stopped seeing any balls. In light of that, there'll be no pollen dusting this grow in case any hermie pollen has done it's business. Shame really cause I wanted to dust the Purps with Taskenti and General's daughter on different branches. Temps at the moment are averaging 20-24 over 24hrs lights off/on, roots 21-22 and RH 51-59%. Circ fan is still on a timer to go off at lights off so I'll be switching that to constantly on soon to bring RH down as the flowers get bigger. I've changed the circ fan to an oscillating Ram suspended from the tent bars blowing down at an angle under the lamp to try and bring some heat down to the canopy.

Purps#1
Was smelling of sweaty cheesy socks in week 3 but a fruity floral aroma came through in week 4. Smells lush.

Sapphire Scout
Haven't really checked her aromas yet.

New circ fan set up.
It never really raised the temps when I installed it but it's kept them steady when the attic temps have dropped. Temps are usually 23 when I open the tent an hour or two after lights on.

That's all for now, happy growing :lucky:

Day 36 bloom.

Alright dudes, I've been upping the lamp power over the week. Up to 288w on day 31, 320w on day 33, then up to full on day 35 but it only read 337w on the meter. Unplugged the dimmer the next day and it shows full power on the meter now..365w. So not only is the red and blue the wrong way round on the dimmer, but it doesn't turn the lamp up full. The lamp is great though, really bright and intense.

I carried on defoliating every 2nd day for most of the week, 4-6 leaves from each plant but that's stopped now, I found a bollock on the Sapphire Scout a couple of nights ago but no more since.

Feeds have been 1.5L of 1/2ml/L plant aid every 2nd day. The scout was drinking a bit more so it went up to 1.7L for her. The girls are looking a bit hungry so the top dressing regime has changed. More on that next update.

Average room temps over the week 20-23C, high of 24 over past couple of days with the milder weather.
Root temps have been constant at 21-22C
RH 52-58% (average).

I switched the circ fan to 24hrs on but it's not made a difference to lights off RH.

The light being wired wrong etc doesn’t make me wanna rush out and buy one I must say lol

Plants looking good though mate, hopefully just a one off bollock bit like Hitler :) Looking forward to them fattening up now:headbang:

Hope work isn’t getting in the way of toking too much! ATB :oldtoker:

@Fragg Thanks for looking in dude.

I don't think you'd rush out and buy one anyway at 1200 euro lol The lamp is fine I think, just the dimmer switch that's not right. Sussed that out ok though so we'll see what the lamp does gram per watt now she's up full. Tbf though I should have got it up to full power sooner. Next time I'll hang it at 28" instead of 24" and ramp it up sooner, taking care to keep them well fed. This top dressing indoors is new to me too, only ever done it outdoors with less fear of overdoing it. Basically they've got this far on minimum feed so if I can keep them going on minimum I might be in for some tastier weed than usual. Just need to ramp it up a little bit. I'll also try what I was gonna do in the first place and keep the red down to minimum until after the stretch, see if that makes a difference.

Work is getting in the way of toking a bit but I'm getting around the system and still toking daily, so all good :D

Yes mate, really enjoyed catching up with this one.  You really do smash it with the detailed and well-presented diaries :yep:

I love the Saph Scout, find it so relaxing. Never did get round to running it tho.

All the best with the rest, hope life is treating you well as can be in these unprecedented times.

  • 2 weeks later...

@ANTHONY13  Thanks mate, unfortunately I'm a bit behind with the updates but all is going good with the grow :) Yes the Scout was slow to get going but she's getting there now and the smell is amazing! At first I thought a mixture of sweet melon and lemon but after reading a couple of reports around the web and seeing grapes mentioned, I think it could be grapes. The smell from her hits me as soon as I open the tent, she stands out the most.

@SYZYGY  Cheers dude, great to see you in here. Sounds like you enjoyed sampling the Scout. I'm looking forward to trying her out and if she's as nice and relaxing as Purps#1 I'll be buzzing :yahoo: The last P#1 pheno I grew was short and stout, very relaxing, like taking an anti anxiety pill lol Hope this stretchier pheno has the same effect. Fingers crossed :lucky:

Life is treating me great work wise but I'm not finding much time for socialising. This is only my 2nd day off in a month but can't complain when so many others are struggling. Hopefully I'll get a few quiet spells so I can catch up around the boards. All the best lads, very testing times indeed. Be lucky :yep:

Day 44 bloom.

Hello folk, hope you're all well and enjoying your gardening :)
As mentioned, I'm not getting much time to myself but I'm managing to keep on top of the grow at least. The girls are doing ok with the guano top dressing but it will take some getting used to. I was planning on dressing every 2 weeks but brought it forward about a week as the plants were lacking a bit. This time I mixed the 15g of guano in a small amount of water and poured it on instead of sprinkling it on dry and raking in. Didn't wanna damage the surface roots. This was on day 37 and watered in with plain water. It still left granules on the surface so I'm thinking of making a tea in future. They then had a couple of feeds of Intense organix grow to keep them going until the guano became available to the plants, then back to plain water. Purps#1 is still getting 1.5L every 2 days but I've had to give the Sapphire Scout 1.8L a couple of times as she's a bit more thirsty.

Average room temps since the last update were 21-23, roots 21-22 and RH 50-57%. My TD silent ectractor is still wired to the slow setting but if the humidity doesn't drop lower soon I might have to wire it to fast and plug it into a variac set to 80%. I don't want it on full due to the low temps.

The tops are firming up nicely but penetration doesn't seem that good at the moment, lot's of airy buds lower down. Think I'll go back to topping early on the next grow and having 4-6 colas for better light penetration, instead of defoliation. I'll wait and see how these finish though.

Purps#1
Purpling up nicely and smells great, really fruity. A bit hungry for N so a lot of the old fan leaves have yellowed and a few have dropped. The couple of feeds of grow should have sorted that though without giving her too much in flower. I'm hoping she'll be tasty as fuck, certainly smells nice.

Sapphire Scout.
Again, her older fans started yellowing but not as extreme as the Purps. She had the same feeds of grow. The first was 1ml/L and the second was 2ml. Smells absolutely delish, grapes I think. Starting to purple up too.

They're due another update soon, as I'm so far behind so I'll try and get on with that if I get time in the next couple of days.

Happy farming dudes :yep:

Day 52 bloom.

Hi growers, time for an update on these girls. Plenty of colour on both but the Purps is really going for it colour wise, looking lush, can't wait til she's ready. Smells on both are getting better by the day. The fruitiness is really coming out in the Purps now, less of the sweaty socks. She's got a lot of yellow fan leaves now but I'm not worried at this stage. Been giving her some grow feed but not too much, 1ml/L, just enough to keep her going. The Scout is getting the same and they've both had a few feeds of 0.5ml/L molasses. Purps is still drinking 1.5L every second day and the Scout has been raised to 1.7L, then 1.9L.

Average room temps over the 8 days since the last update have been 21-24C. The roots have been super steady at 21-22C and RH has been 51-56%. Not sure whether to push my luck or speed up the extraction and lower humidity a bit. The circ fan blowing down on it's lowest setting is keeping the air moving nicely 24/7.

Canopy
These being the tallest, I've moved them around and put them at the back so peeps can see my other plants in my other diary, plus they were getting a bit shaded by these. I'm not finding the time to pull them out for full plant pics unfortunately, but you can see all the good bits sticking up here :) SS back left and the obvious Purps right beside her. I'm really pleased how the SS is growing now she's kicked into gear.

As usual I'm late with my updates. We're on day 56 now and the calyx are swelling up. I'll try and get the plants out for full plant shots for the next one.

Happy growing, be lucky :lucky:

@jadenugs they are swelling up a treat mate, how much longer do you think? Hope you are managing to get a day off this weekend, I’m going to try out my new portable washing machine and make some bubble hash:yahoo:The manual method is too much of a back breaker and Frenchie sold me on these machines, can’t wait to play! :)

@Fragg Cheers buddy, I reckon another two weeks, espesh the Scout. Not really looked at the trichs yet but I like em well cooked.

Yeh man, couple days off, buzzing :)

They don't half make some rattle those washing machines but I should invest in one really, I'm still risking my life with an electric whisk lol Might try a battery drill and wooden spoon on my next run.

Hope your weekend is going well, enjoy your bubbling :)

@tokenroll Thanks for dropping by mate and the kind comments :) I've not had much time to myself lately so I'm a bit out of touch. Hope all's well with you dude :smokin:

Oh, btw I found part of a Purps bud in a misplaced tub last night so been curing a good while. Creamy fruitiness and what a nice buzz, couldn't get the grin off my face :D

@jadenugs they do a bit but the idea is to use the least ice possible to prevent it damaging the plant material and causing contaminant, according to Frenchy it is the movement of the ice cold water that removes the trichome heads, not the ice, that way it isn’t too noisy. Stank the whole house out tho, thank fuck for lockdown lol The run I did with the smallest amount of ice tonight yielded the best so gotta concur with the Maestro :notworthy: the machines are dirt cheap, effective and a lot less back breaking than the manual way ;)

Bubbles in the freezer so weekend going great :oldtoker:

@Fragg where did you get your machine buddy?

Ended up down Frenchy worm hole last night while vaping the some sweet treats. Thanks for the heads up on the master, clearly a very professional man and operation. Was wondering if he had hand wash video.

@growinggold from the bay mate, it came from Germany and no I haven’t seen Frenchy do a manual method, he makes so much it wouldn’t be practical nor is it efficient really. Doing it more the Frenchy way has certainly improved my yields and probably quality too but my eyesight is crap so not sure til I puff some:oldtoker:
