In-the-night-garden
Hi Guys, hope you've had a good week and earnt a few quid.... Thanks for popping into this miserable diary that I'm already regretting signing up for... Just hope I can somehow manage to do these top Dinafem genetics kindly donated by @Dinafem-Mark some sort of justice. It all began around the 6th August, when 5no Critical +2.0 and 5no Industrial plant seeds took a little dip in some distilled water for 12hrs, before being placed in their first pots... as seen below: From there they were placed in small clone tent, on top of a small electric blanket and under 24hrs of T5 lighting... The result after a couple of weeks, around the 29th August is seen below, all 10 seedlings up and going well... So far so good. For clarity the Critical +2.0 are on the left in the image below and the Industrial Plant seedlings are on the right. At this stage the Critical +2.0 seem a little more fussy... In the images above they had been repotted from their original 0.5l Pots into slightly larger 1.0l pots. Over the coming days I allowed them to root out their 1l pots, they have now all been topped once, as I want to try and create 10 small bushes,, with 5 under each 600W HPS (I know I'm a bit stuck in my ways... keep toying with a CMH upgrade)... The following pictures were taken just prior to topping and potting up... As you can see a few of them are not looking so great, but I potted them up anyway into 3.5l pots... the majority had root balls like the following image: So ladies and gents, boys and girls that brings us bang upto date... They are probably due a watering and a feed tonight, but I'm looking to move them into a new larger home, under a big light... Two questions if any of you pros out there would mind helping this novice: 1. They have been having relatively weak feed, around the 0.9-1.0 EC mark, I think they look a little hungry, although they were pot bound so that may have made the symptoms appear worse... Should I up the feed to say 1.2EC??? Feed is currently made up of 1.5ml/l of A and B, 3ml/l of root tonic, and 3.5ml/l of Grower Ark Coco softy water range. 2. I have almost completed the insulation of my garage grow room now (Ceiling 175mm of Cellotex boards, walls a self supporting structure of 100mm Cellotex boards and floor 75mm Cellotex with all joints taped etc) so the plants will be going into a 1.2D x 2.4W x 2.0H grow tent when I go purchase one this afternoon, I was going to get a 400W MH Bulb for vegging, should I do this? or should I just veg under HPS? I have dimmable ballasts so was going to start at 400W. 3. Any other input would be gratefully received. Cheers guys, Peace Out.

zztopbudz
All sounds cool my friend. I'm in a garage also mate. I use a mh for vegging as it does give a nice tight internode, a bit less stretching. But you can veg happily with a hps or a duel spectrum like a sunmaster. Winter is a coming tho mate and 2 things that massively helped my are electric blankets under the pots and silver bubble wrap , taped around the pots. When temps drop and they will , soon, you will be pulling in cold air . The roots will show problems first in the plant, look after them and keep them warm and the top of the plant can take some cold shit air temps. With feed , generally you can use half of the directed doses on everything and the plants are ok . Better to slightly underfeed than overfeed and burn the pants. Good luck cracking start shout out if u need any help zz

In-the-night-garden
@zztopbudz and @botanics thanks for dropping in guys and thanks for the input!! i upper the feed to 1.3EC and all appears well, one of the criticals is struggling a bit, but think I need to let it dry out a bit more, as the root growth on that one has been much slower! They are now basking under a 600W HPS dimmed to 400W for now... and growth has accelerated. im thinking I'll give them another week or so and then repot into the final 11l pots... like I say hoping to grow small bushes, 5 under each 600W light, which I'm going to run at 660W for the last 4weeks! Cheers for popping in guys, please keep sticking your head in, I'll add some picture updates over the weekend.
Dinafem-Mark
@botanicsfor some reason I thought this was you as you use the same title as @In-the-night-garden @In-the-night-gardenThank you firstly for starting this grow diary and secondly your off to a great start I'll be along for the ride and watching with interest As said your off to a great start. Plants look super healthy and growing very well 1 more week then final pot up sounds bang on. Until your next update All the best Mark..

Can the mods do it? Anyway thsbks for popping in, hopefully have a decent picture update in the morning... @Dinafem-Mark do you think 5 in 11l pots under each 600W will work out ok yield wise? I usually do 9 in 6.5l pots under each. cheers.

In-the-night-garden
Morning All... Right a little picture update for you all, at the last update the plants had just been repotted into the 3.5l pots, this was around 8days ago now, and since then growth has accelerated and overall health has seemingly improved. The plants are now 45days old from first soaking the seeds and growth is looking great. They are being fed 1.3EC (made up of - Root Tonic 4ml/l, Coco A+B - 2.5ml/l, Extra Traces 2.5ml/l) and they seem too be loving it. Lights on temps are topping out around 27.5C, with a low air temp of 16C which I'm going to try and improve, but the roots are toasty and warm due to the electric blanket on a root-it stat. The plants have been topped once each and I'm thinking I will leave it at one topping, anyway onto the pics: The first image shows a group shot, the first row are the Critical +2.0 which seem to be very homogeneous, they literally look like clones, the back row are the Industrial plant, of which I appear to have 2 phenos developing, three are a bit stretchier than the other two which are short and squat. Sorry about the crap lights on shots guys. Critical +2.0 Industrial Plant Full Size ROOT PORN So just a quick question for the guru's @botanics, @Dinafem-Mark.... How long should I leave them now before repotting into the finals? And once repotted, how long should I leave before the flip? I usually wait until I see roots at the bottom of the final pot, give them another week and then flip, but I usually finish in 6.5l Pots. Cheers for any input fellas. Until the next time, Over and out.
botanics
@In-the-night-garden And looking good those noodles there mate fair play, setting themselves up for a lovely bloom ...with regards to potting on times, well you are looking at about two weeks per pot until they need a potting up and when you get to the finals, if you give them two weeks after going into them before flipping over to 12's, then you'll find they'll have rooted the pots through perfectly (they do continue with rooting after the flip and during early stretch but as the hormones switch over of course, they concentrate on the canopy then, readying up for maturation of flower bracts)
Dinafem-Mark
I would have to agree with @botanics. They have just been repotted up into 3.5l pots which I'm sure the ladies are very greatful for I would give them 2-3 weeks in the 3.5l pots. Pot up into 6.5l final pots . Give 10-14 days to get established then flip the girls over to the flower cycle (12/12) I don't think there is any reason to change your name mate @In-the-night-garden I'm sure @botanicsis flattered Thank you for taking the time to update your diary and thank you for the added pictures very much appreciated! Until the next one All the best Mark.. Edited September 21, 2017 by Dinafem-Mark
In-the-night-garden
Hi Guys, Quick Update Day 50ish since soaking the seeds and things are coming along nicely. I had intended to repot into the 11l finals over the weekend but life got in the way a bit, so the re-pot will be happening tonight!! I'm really impressed with the uniform structure of both strains, they are like 2 sets of clones,, the Critical +2.0 smell amazing after giving them a little stem rub!! They are also a bit taller than the Industrial Plants, which are quite squat and stocky in structure.. A few photos I grabbed this morning again, sorry for the poor picture quality!!! This is one of the Critical +2.0, which all have an identical structure, and have been topped once! One of the has red striped stems, and is a bit smellier than the others. And then a quick group shot just to show how uniform they are... I am going to give them another 10 days to 2 weeks veg after potting up and then flip them, don't want them to get too big, but I will be supercropping them as the stretch begins just to open up the canopy a little as I only have 600W lights, which probably wont penetrate very far through a dens canopy. I fed them again last night and have been edging the mix up slightly, and think they could probably do with a little stronger still... The EC of last nights feed was 1.4, made up of (3m/l of A and B, 5ml/l of Root Tonic, 2ml/l of extra traces)... Temperatures have been relatively stable topping out at 28C and a low air temp of 16C, the roots are on a root it stat at a toasty 22C. I'm going to wrap the new pots in some "superquilt" insulation to hopefully help with the low air temps as we get further into winter. I was tempted with just flowering these off in their 3.5l pots under 1 600W light, but feel the extra yield for a further 2 weeks of veg is probably worth it. Any thoughts, let me have em. Cheers, Until the next time, peace out peeps.
Dinafem-Mark
Looking tip top in here They are definitely going to appreciated the potting up mate. I would pot up as said, give 10-14 days to get established into new pots then the flower show can begin I must say all plants look super healthy. Zero signs of any deficiency and clearly growing well and happy Thank you for taking the time to update your diary and thank you for the added pictures very much appreciated! Until next time All the best Mark..
In-the-night-garden
@Dinafem-Mark thanks for popping in mate... Well yesterday afternoon I called and got 10no new 11l pots and 2 bags of Canna Coco Pro, when I got home I duly potted the ladies up into thier new homes and made a couple of modifications to the fan set up, I now have one of those tower fans hung horizontally blowing a curtain of air between the reflector and the canopy. I will update with pictures either tomorrow or Wednesday, but I'm hoping to get the second 600W HPS up and running by the end of this coming weekend, to allow the plants to veg for one more week under a total of 1200W before flipping to 12/12 and letting the flower show commence. I may have a small issue though, the missus in her infinite wisdom has booked a holiday for the end of October... So i amy have to try and set up some automated watering system... Is this an easy task? I know @Golden Syrup uses one, does anyone else? If so is it best just to follow @TheSaint guide? Cheers for popping in, please anyone feel free to offer any advice, every day is a school day. Cheers, Peace Out.
