Hello, and welcome to Hiphip's Haphazardness which will attempt to chronicle the life and death of a cannabis plant via the medium of words and pictures.

The very first thing to be done is to thank JOOLZ and the TEAM AT UK420 for allowing DUTCH PASSION to run this comp. Massive :yinyang: to TONY and DUTCH PASSION for providing the opportunity for those, like me, lucky enough to have some beans for free. Winners already folk.

I chose DARK DELIGHT and FREDDY's BEST as the strains to try from Dutch Passion's, (DP), NEW RELEASES so |I am expecting some good stuff.

THE PLAN

I am going to run Dark Delight first as it has a slightly longer bloom time so while they are in flower I can start the Freddy's Best and flip them when the first ones are done. I am going to veg for 6 or 7 weeks just as my current grow finishes. I will be potting up to a final 11L pot.

Seedlings and the first 2 weeks under a 125 W CFL (blue) in the closet, followed by a 4 - 5 week stint under a 250 W HPS in the 1.2 x .7 x 1.8 veg room. Flowering will be in a Hydrolab 120s with 400 W HPS. 125mm Ruck/Rhino, 150 mm clip on.

I grow in the supreme media that is COCO and I use PLANT MAGIC GROW and BLOOM (Softwater) along with PM Root Stimulant and Bloom BOOST as and when needed. NOTE. I do not E.C. and my water is fine.

Please feel free to pass comment whether good, or the opposite of good, and ask anything of me (Except gimp masks).

When Dutch Passion create a new strain we begin with a ‘wish list’ of the desired targets. Ironically, although we are called ‘Dutch Passion’ we have to be dispassionate about evaluating new strains, and we have to be brutally demanding as well. For a company like Dutch Passion with many best selling strains that have been around for decades we have to be sure that the new strains offer something new to our customers. Some strains can spend years in development but never quite make it into the Dutch Passion collection. These days the standards for a new strain have never been as tough, but Dark Delight had no problems overcoming the challenges and tests.

Dark Delight is the name of the fourth new variety from Dutch Passion for 2012. This is a 75% indica/25% sativa multi-blend which has taken a few years to create but the results have been worth the wait. This is a feminized traditional variety, not an AutoFem.

In recent years a number of the newer cannabis varieties have perhaps been developed with bumper yields as one of the main considerations. This is understandable; many modern self-sufficient growers want to grow only the minimum number of plants necessary to meet their medical or recreational needs.

However, we get regular mail from customers, especially the experienced old-school growers, saying that they want a variety bred purely for a luxurious smoking experience and a lavish, delightful high. That was the thinking behind Dark Delight from the very beginning; we focussed only on the quality aspects of this strain. For Dark Delight we decided to focus more on creating a variety which offered pure and deep indulgence for the connoisseur. As it turned out the yields here are average (or slightly above average), but Dark Delight would have been commercialised even if she had been a light yielder, such is the aficionado quality present in the pot produced by Dark Delight.

Dark Delight is a blend of the best genebank Afghani,European and North American strains. She is an indica dominant feminized variety bred with the simple goal of producing the finest sensimilla. The result really is superb. The ‘high’ is one which will satisfy the most demanding of marijuana fans, she has a strong Indica flavour and aroma. The incorporation of the Afghani heritage has been done specifically to deliver the rich, intense hash smells of the best of the Mujahideen Afghani resin that privileged stoners may remember from the 70’s and 80’s. The smoke is rich, deep and of course highly fragrant with different levels of taste and aroma. Dark Delight is typically indica; powerful, with the real quality that we originally wanted, smooth, mellow and yet undeniably potent. But following this is the influence from the sativa, this adds to the experience, introducing a heady, cerebral and psychedelic feel. All in all, this is a long lasting and great quality pot that you will enjoy smoking, vapourising or cooking with.

The Dutch Passion team got together at the 2011 Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam for a final review of Dark Delight, and we were all in agreement that this was a fundamentally very special and potent result. This is weed to satisfy those looking for the best they can get.Dark Delight grows up to 1.5m tall, producing dense bud in respectable quantities. When grown in optimum conditions by an experienced grower, Dark Delight will deliver well above average yields. She has very few leaves making her easy to trim and look after. Towards the end of flowering the leaves take on a dark appearance which is how she got the name. Occasionally some leaves can be nearly black towards the end of the 8-10 week flowering period. Outdoors or in greenhouses she is ready around the middle of October. Dark Delight is ideally suited to indoor and greenhouse production though it will perform well outdoors at southerly latitudes.

Dark Delight is a luxury strain, perhaps one for the aficionado who is looking to experience the best quality and indulge themselves with a rare and unique variety.

Dutch Joe.

THE START

The seeds came in a very nice box which attracted no attention. Inside were no plant markers, you have to be special for them, and 2 packs of seeds. One of them looked like this;

and contained these;

gallery_54925_4130_138236.jpg

some seeds and some funny brown things.

gallery_54925_4130_48979.jpg

We have thrown those horrid things away and have put the nice white coloured seeds into some paper towels which have been moistened and they are now in a warm, dark place until they show growth. All that remains for the time being is to wish everyone a fantastic grow with whatever you are growing, all the best of fortune compadres.

Cheers :smokin:

Good luck with your adventures into the dark delight! I'll be watching this with great interest, but why no gimp mask? Maybe your girls like it? ;)

My ladies never like me to show up in a gimp mask, it makes them wary. No sudden movements or noises. They like a fireman uniform. All the best of luck when you start yours off my friend. Stay free.

UPDATE.

Nothing to report.

heh heh. Just for those not familiar with our seeds, we put a filling of polystyrene beads in there with the seeds to help prevent crush damage.

The last time I had a toke of Dark Delight was at the High Times cup in Amsterdam and it was a beauty that stank like hell when lit . I'm normally a vapouriser guy, but this occasion merited the neat joint. Yep, you should love it.

And it saves on plastic tubes and cotton wool. Well done, and only 5 beads as well, quality packers mate.

:yinyang: It sounds great Tony. Maybe, for once, the blurb may be true. I'll tell you in 19 weeks mucker. :yinyang:

I have found them (3 strains grown) to be like "Most" other breeders. Some fantastic results, some shite, good stock and bad. Their strains are used by a lot of newer breeders so they cant't be all bad. They do, however, have a reputation to either enhance or discredit as we move into the future. Should 25 years count for something? Yes, providing that the good points outweigh the bad. Let's see what happens when ALL the diaries are up and running, which should not to be used to start a shitfest at every opportunity, and see how the "NEW" strains perform. Believe me my friend, if these genetics are crap you will know.

Anyway I digress. All the best of good fortune for your grow mucker. Those T. Diff. look like fucking monsters so get ready for a mad time. Many thanks for popping in, grab a coffee.

UPDATE.

So we have 100% germination. Thank fuck. 4 seeds have got tails and have been put into starter pots and placed under the 125W CFL where they will enjoy warmth, light and love until they join the big girls under the 250W.

Thanks my friend. Love and attention pays dividends but we'll see soon.

Tell him how beautiful he is. Tell him how every day has been an education and that you will always love him. Then give him a hug and a kiss on the forehead.

Take care my friend, be safe out there.

Cheers :smokin:
