Hey looking good youd get away with chopping a fan or two if its going to get light to the lower sites its prob worth it, i Ive just chopped my SN the purple one was the biggest of the 2 but it did get a small patch of bud rot while drying so watch out for that if the colas get big, if yours goes like mine just expect the structure of the plant to stay small so give as much light as poss to the main heads u got imo. Gl!

That's a good point, the lower bud sites are slightly behind the top ones and I've had to pin one branch down because if they produce bigger colas they'll end up crossing each other and I know how much of a pain in the ass bud rot is, I've had it on the last 2 batches of Mephisto. I might try having one oscillating fan on a low speed as well as the extractor at maybe speed 2 instead of 1 to get the air flowing but not too fast! It's a pain to gauge.

Day 47 and as it seems with Mephisto Seeds the runt has overtaken size wise. Both are taking 4ml of bloom now and sits are starting to fatten up and stretch. Slight bit of canoeing leafs on the Jammy dodgers but I’m putting that down to a spike in the heat, light is roughly 20” from the tops of the plant so I don’t think it’s light related.

Both still looking healthy with the tiniest bit of nute burn, undecided on what the yield will be like but I’ll get something worthwhile smoking……hopefully lol

Jammy Dodgers have turned out to be extremely bushy but I’ve been tucking fan leafs, removed 1 but don’t really want to take too many off, most of the main bud sites are getting light so I’ll leave it be for now.

what I usually do is big fans facing inwards towards the inner circle of growth I chop, and leave everything growing outwards mostly  and then as and when things die I pick em off, ive done this more and more as ive learned growing the last couple of years because the big fans can sometimes lean back and drip water on a big budsites and cause rot and generally speaking youd rather have the lower branches of budsites getting light rather than the big fan casting its shadow and I find balancing the removal like that leaving the outer ones isnt shocking the plants too badly so it does feel worth it. As they get into flower as well I try and get rid of any that start leaning back and facing upwards, Im more removing low budsites, skinny branches and high up inner facing fans to reduce humidity as well as light blockers.

Im not like giving advice or anything btw im just sharing how I view it cause I tinker around a lot and ive learned a lot doing it and watching other diarys like this its interesting, I do think its very strain specific and the SN is so small you dont want to got too hard on it, your on course for some fattening though, I think, and you know of my 2 I actually prefer the green one for smell and smoke. Im gonna leave it though you know as a strain I just think its too small compared to basically every other strain they do. Your JD will keep shooting up it looks like that stem at the backs like nah mate im the boss haha IME when you get the vigorus growth like that they can take more of a beating with LST/lollypop/prune activities than the basically dwarf SN happy growing tho good to see you smashing it.

I'm in agreement, I just wanted to wait a little longer so I could identify the main bud sites. I've snipped off one of the lower bud sites on the SN, the rest seem to be getting plenty of light and there aren't anymore lower bud sites on it.

The JD however is a different tale because of how bushy it is I removed 4/5 lower branches that had bud sites but they were getting zero light so I've snipped them, I don't think it'll shock it too much as they were relatively tiny and had no pistils but I guess I'll find out over the next few days how she responds. Always find with those you only ever get a popcorn bud and it never really fully matures in time for when the rest is ready to be chopped. Ideally you could harvest in stages but I don't really have the room to be doing that but usually by now on my previous grows they'd be showing major deficiencies and all the leaves going yellow and crusty but these are still looking relatively happy!

Yeah man when im seeing the mephisto in early flower like your JD you can just tell that plant will go massive and recover from lst in days. I just chopped my last 2 which were the SODKxHaze plants and they are fully stinking my flat up and lost a couple of sites due to mould/fungus again which is what caused the chop, its like pros and cons with fat buds sometimes but thankfully it was the smaller plant and not too much and the massive one seems fine. Have you got freebies as well? this one was a real winner and basically saved my yield this run.

Oh yes, Mephisto always include freebies plus lots of stickers. I only ever order 1 seed of each strain and I always get 2, which is great because I've got some real tasty one's left over but my freebie this time was Super Orange Haze x 24 Carat. Sounds tasty and I nearly planted that instead of the Jammy Dodgers lol
