Cracked on with insulating the space I could spare in the shed. The plan was build a sealed space to hold the grow tent, oil rad and extraction system. I Started with the floor, roof, and then walls. Followed by taping and detailing around the 6"/150mm passive vent hole. I also used tape to edge all viable edges. With large sheet as lean to door. Before. After. Grow Space and equipment: -Insulated grow space (6x 50mm 1.2x2.4m Celotex boards and 1x foil tape) -80x80x160cm Matrix grow tent - LED 1. 220w Highlight with dimmer - LED 2. 150w Scope v2 with dimmer (this currently being used and will be added to this space in flower) -6" Hydrolab Carbon Filter -6" RVK fan on WAC1 controller -6" Box filter -ROOT !T Heat Mat, Black, Medium -Inkbird ITC-306T Digital Temperature Controller -SUNHOUSE SHTTH2 80W Low Energy Tubular Heater -1500w Oil Rad - 2x Scrog nets on hooks - SensorPush Bluetooth Temperature and Humidity Sensor -Nutrients - Canna Terra – Vega & Flores -Clover MPC -6x 6.5L Square plastic pots -Tropf Blumats connected to WHAM l black box tank -Small aquarium pump with oxygen stone -Water source will be collected from mother nature her self. Rain. -Tap PH is 7.38- 7.6 as per water company report. Will use this if i can't collect enough rain water. The fan is setup so it sucks the air from the top of grow space through the box filter, rvk fan and then carbon filter. Passive vent at the bottom left of the tent next to oil rad, fingers crossed this will take the edge off the winter nights. Ink bird thermostat on wall set to 28c. Growing area. Root it heat mat, garland tray, 6no 6.5l square pots with tube heater between. Water pipe from water tank on bench outside the insulated space. Water tank for the tropf blumats, I will add the rain water and nutrients here when fully connected to the blumats. Also a jar sweet Cream Caramel I've been tooting all day, making the work fly by. Plus the clip on fans below the bench for when needed. Really happy with how smooth today's builds gone. Now for a week of testing to see how the grow space performs. The LED Highlight is on and dialed all the way back. I will dig out my Meter plug soon so I can dial this precisely when growing. The heat mat and tube heaters are on and set to be on for anything below 28c. RVK is switched on sucking on level 3. If temps and humidity are looking good I will pot up the seedlings and add tropf blumats. I like to get them in their finals as soon as possible with a blumat so they can make their own choices regards eating and drinking. Thanks for checking in all.. Hope your grows are going well. GG Hey dude, I’m looking to build something like this in my garage, after I finish my current (first ever) grow, or fail as I’m fighting the temp anyway did you just tape the celotex together and also what’s the crack with the front? Did you just wedge a front piece when not in the tent to create the enclosed room? I was thinking about cutting a small hole for extension cable (plug taken off of course) then a bigger one for exhaust ducting and possible sealing round with something to stop the cold getting in?? all help appreciated bro. Attempted to message but looks like I can’t for some reason. cheers
growinggold
Hello @Tom369, I used 50 foil tape available from Screwfix and every. I used the two rolls and did all visible edges and seams. It works great be easy to use. Plus is the perfect size for edge. Is guess you could just double up for 100mm thick. With regards the door if you look at the 2nd pici in your quote you can see the door panel in the left. It's simple just perfect sized panel that wedges in. You will need exhaust hole or passive vent holes I have a few. You need to have 50 post before you message. Good luck buddy just get a diary up with alright pictures and so many here will be happy to help. You really do get out what you put in here.

Ah right so you just slot it in and it keeps cold out? I was planning on having it wider one side to slot an oil rad in there closest to the passive vent hole to it creates warm air being pulled in. Would I need holes in the board or does air pass through the insulation easy enough. Or would I be best to drill some holes to fill up the radiator section with air. Obviously don’t want to build a warm box then create holes for cold air to get in if you get me thinking. growinggold
Thanks buddy @Tom369. I just the panels to size with handsaw, did the floor, glued the and taped roof and the did walls. Then tapped all inside edges. The insulated space had 6" passive vent you can see in pic while circle. Inside the insulated space I have a 1500w oil rad, the grow tent and then the extraction set-up.. I have the extraction to sick the air out space. So stuck warm air by the oil rad through the passive grow space in vent and out through the top and though the filter. This is also by the door where thee is slight crack so the warm can escape and transferred either out the space or into the uninsulated shed. In the shed space I have a dehumidifier set around 65% to stop condensation forming on roof walls ect. Hope that helps.

I’m just trying to get me head round having a hole in the box that you want to keep warm. I was planning on having a hole for the ducting for extraction but then sealing with something so cold don’t get in. But won’t having a hole in the box for air not just let the heat from the rad escape and then get in the tent itself. Or am I just being stupid? I get there’s needs to be air for the co2 but obvs I just trying to stop my freezer of garage stopping me grow what did you use to glue? cheers for all the help bud
growinggold
If you look carefully on the first comment back quoting you will notice the ducting point the opposite direction to the passive tent intake and the oil rad. It's all a balancing act in this game. Yes you wanna keep the hot air but you also needs fresh air so your plants can thrive. Is it's battle to switch and change air from cold to hot you see. And heat mats they're also key. Glue wise I used PVA. But your roof and base shoukd keep your sides should keep your sides in should you cut your sides the right size..all cosy and tight to push in. Hope it helps @Tom369. Edited February 14, 2021 by growinggold

Maybe next time though when I have a grow under me belt and I’m happy that the conditions are a bit better. how do you think that celotex build will hold up in the summer? Will you need ought else to tackle the warmth you recon?
growinggold
To combat sumo temps I've oversized the 6" rvk fan. I'm currently running it 50% speed. 100% I hope will extract the heat.
growinggold
Hello All, Sorry for the lack of updates. Really trying to stay out the budding ladies way, they're in lockdown after all. I visit the shed most days, top up the tank, Check the root temps are around 26c and leave. Grow Day:82 - 19.02.21 Flower Week 8- Flower Day 50 To be honest I am little disappointed over the last few weeks since the end of stretch I think the ladies have started to look a little ropey. Admittedly I have overfed most and should've been a little cautions, I should of also employed a tighter nett to keep the more vigorous ladies (Jack47, DoSweetDo's, SweetZkittlez) extra compact. This in turn would've give them more space from the lights. Being so close has driven them too hard. In the picture below you can see the smaller ladies Ice Cool, Black Jack and Mohan Ram have really kept there green. This is leaf example, any ideas? Black Jack right. Close Up Macros Jack 47 Ive tied these two Jack 47 tops to side wall below the fans. Ideally these wouldn't be so fans, however with numerous fans breaking this run and having to fashion something less than ideal. I really need to get some better airflow from below the canopy, however I dont have any fans. I'm think dropping the bar of PC fans would be more effective down below. On plus note this lady is really stacking on the caylxs now, so bloody fruity its unreal. Gonna be lovely toot. Even her pistils looks limey. Black Jack This poor lass is still being overshadowed, fingers crossed the tying back will jumper Ice Cool DoSweetsDo's This is the branch that hangs out the door on the unzip, its begging to be snipped off. I think this lady is looking to closest to be done so, which is little off I thought the Mohan Ram would romp it home quickest. Mohan Ram Macros Sweet Zkittlez And here is the ruler back by popular demand. @Dr Krepituz Only 5" from the LED, not great I really wanted double that and some. Smell Review Ended up scraping my plan of getting a load of perfume sample cards. Used the classic finger. Easy innit. Jack 47 - most citrusy of the bunch, real limey. Love it. Black Jack- This lady is flying under the radar here, I couldn't quite get a good smell off her. I will have to wait for decent cure. Ice Cool- sweets, flowers, really unique couldn't quite catch all the smell DoSweetsDo's- Fresh, earthy and sweet. Mohan Ram- quite musky, didn't really pack a smelly punch to be honest Sweet Zkittlez- fruit and candy like Temps and Humidity since the last visit on the 09.02.21 - 20.02.21 Temperature 32.3c- 20.1c- Average 26.6c Humidity from 58.9% to 36.1% - Average 46.5% I knocked the oil radiator down a notch on the last visit the temperature seems to be consistently warmer for time being.
