Private Clinics/Prescriptions

iShouldCoCo

Recommended Posts

I have seen a few (sometimes heated) discussions about legal med prescriptions and note that quite a few people already have a prescription or could qualify for one. Up until fairly recently, I have only had a passing interest in medical use but now I am a med user looking into getting a private consultation and possible prescription for a couple of conditions I am suffering from.

I am still getting my head around the process (and costs!) but I would be very interested to hear from people who have already gone through this stage and are out of the other side with a monthly prescription. Which clinic, what's on offer, what costs etc. I am lucky I am fully mobile, so I can always grow my own and this will no doubt always be cheaper and more fun than the prescription route, but still...

@iShouldCoCo

yep im on this project 21 initiative,

done my zoom call last Tuesday where I was prescribed 30g sativa flower 18/19% thc  for £150 and 30ml 25:1 oil at £150.

the oils are now available I believe at £80 for 30ml or £200 for 100ml. @edd.excessive

My initial consultation was £99. and you are vetted before hand to make sure that you qualify so as not to waste your consultation fee.

The flower will last me 2 months id bet as im a lightweight and not sure how long I guess the oil will last till ive tried it but im betting at least 2 months as I have the flower to pair it with.

My specialist was for anxiety and was a phonecall instead of the zoom call , he actually called me up and said I thought you would appreciate a phone call instead so as not to exasperate your anxiety, ( how thoughtful was that and reeked of a professional who knows his field ).

The call literally took 10/15 minutes max.

I had an email the next day from the pharmacy that gave me my 2 week lead time and a payment link.

all in all I think its been a fantastic experience :yep:

I have a follow up 2/3 weeks after I start the meds at £110, but after that they are charged at £65 every few months.

so the total costs to start this up have been:

£99 consultation

£150 for 30g flower

£150 for 30ml 25:1 oil

£110 follow up fee

=£509 total

I don't reckon that's too bad in the grand scheme of things for 2 months if you take away the consultations and just add up the product costs. which is what it will be after the first month. =£300 which goes down to £230 if the oils are now at £80 so £115 for me every 2 months

£300 for the flower and the oil from a registered pharmacy, going down to £230 with new oil prices

On darknet markets alone 28g of flower is £220-250 on its own,

then you have to add the Massive big bonus on to it , which is the legality of YOU AND YOUR PRODUCT , you will have the paperwork to prove you are allowed to smoke the flower anywhere respectfully.

They aint gonna know if your homegrown is the prescription you have or not and surely this is a winner.

Its not the price id like to pay , but it is the price im willing to pay to legitimise my particular situation which is id guess is considerably different to yours, I dunno could be the same

I'd love a script, just for legitimacy when out and about. Sadly because I've not been through the mill with the docs for my anxiety/depression and other things cannabis helps me with I believe it have little chance of passing the criteria because in most cases for my conditions I've not tried 2 or more prescription medicines.

I'm A ok 100% physically and mentally looking after myself with my cannabis. I certainly ain't gonna start taking a rake of prescription drugs so I can get a piece of paper. Even if they did work. They are a shite alternative to the product that currently works very well for me.

I feel like I've faced huge battles that I've managed to conquer with nothing but determination and self healing and a bit of cannabis to keep me on the level. I've done incredivlbly well over the years to lead a normal life without taking prescription meds and now I'm in a penalised position as diagnosed sufferer that's never had any prescriptions because I have some thing that works(cannabis) but I can't get a prescrition for cannabis because I've been taking cannabis which meant I didn't need to take prescription drugs.

It's incredibly backwards.

there’s no logic to it what so ever lol

the police/gov know they’ve lost/cant keep up..have no money left..and people are wiser to weed

thry know they have to release cannabis/cash cow from the chains to make money for their business freinds..

in essence they’ve totally lost the street cannabis battle.. but instead of just saying we lost, we lied, we will stop arresting people, they are trying to blackmail people into spending around 500£ a month on a ‘private card’ and meds to not be arrested....when they’ve just explaned they’ve lost the battle and can’t keep up lol

it’s like going to a warehouse party, having a wicked night with the police standing outside because they can’t do anything to stop it happening, to many party people etc..and then they charge you money to leave the building after the party lollol with an exit card..and some pills lol

why not just stop arresting people and dish out the weed from the nhs/dr’s for medicating conditions?

there you go, job done..oh yeah, the billions in private profit, from not arresting people?..stupid twigs!

just decriminalise it so people can smoke it peacefully without arrest and release it medically from the nhs and private clinics..that’s the deal with every other drug, you can go to the nhs for treatment or fast track with private health care..

it doesn’t matter why your using it, recreationally or medicating or both! because they’ve said they’ve lost the war..

they just have to stop arresting people using weed.. it’s easy

we too would like a ‘card’ so we don’t get arrested but we can barely afford food at the moment so the idea of spending a almost a 1000£ a month for us both to have a card and private meds is fecking unicorn land madness! lol

just wait until the ‘plant markers’ are in your ‘legal’ weed they give you, so police can tell if your smoking ‘medically patented weed’ (legal) and you get arrested for using ‘fake’ (street) medicine..

all it will need is a tiny sample of weed and a little handheld machine.. ‘beep beep’ like a weed breathalyser..

“this weed is untraceable sir?..back of the van”

why didn’t they just start from the Dutch model and move forward from that point rather than try and invent a new system of fakery..

Apart from venlafaxine @75mg i take nothing for my depression and anxiety. I was on much more than 75mg and on a combo with a bit of Valium ect thrown in for good measure. Talking to the psychiatrist back in the day (10 years plus ago) DID help me a lot. It taught me to look for the low mood recognise it and take steps to shorten it or even ignore it...all great learning tools for my own situation, can't say it would work for everyone as we are all different.

Armed with my "knowledge" i self medicate with flowers when things are getting tough and also slow my life down OR indeed speed it up physically but not mentally - So there is no way that I would be getting a script from anyone - as it's mostly been dealt with by me and my percy grows.

I'd say just go for it! Iv'e got a script for a few products and its been going really well. The first few months are the most expensive with follow up appointments and trying new products, but after about 3 months you should be put on a stable prescription with fewer appointments. You can also discuss the most financially sustainable options with your consultant and buy products accordingly. They also sometimes offer you larger bottles of oil for slightly more money which are cheaper.

The £150 for 30'gs of flower is great value at the very least.

you can imagine a big office full of raggedy, greedy suits going mad, all shouting at each other, paper flying in the air, desks turnt over (monty python style lol ) fight happening over licences, phones ringing for deals going down.. because  they’ve just realised they can’t keep the cannabis con going..

then they hold a press conference, push the smartest looking guy in the room out infront of the camera’s to tell the media everyone now has to pay the governmnrt loads of money not to be arrested any more.. whilst all the other people are quietly peeping out the windows at the media people/society to see if everyone is swallowing the bullshit lol

they’ve lost and are scrabbling for crumbs..

Does it work in the case of debilitating pain for you? Purely subjective experience, it didn't do much when I experienced it. Mind you, the 4 pain killers also only helped.

Did make the whole thing more bearable, I suppose. More in a...spiritual way, rather than direct effect on pain.....but I strongly suspect I just like getting high whatever the weather ;)

I originally posted this thinking that some kind of pharmacy/product/process review thread might emerge but I can see that this is a hot topic, so happy to read/discuss the topic of legal pharmacies and prescriptions in general

Ah yes, that was the thread that made me realise I could legalise my current consumption of the plant. I have been looking into ProjectTwenty21 - I have a lot of respect for Prof Nutt and his colleagues.

Thanks for sharing your real-life experience @itsmeithink very helpful. I think we are in similar boats - on the same stormy seas at least, if not in the same boat  :pugwash: I would be looking for a high/pure CBD extract or flowers to help with anxiety/depression and possibly some 1:1 or 2:1 for migraine and insomnia. I imagine the choices are fairly limited at this stage. Vapourising is my favoured form of titration, I've not tried oil yet but remain open-minded. Old habits die hard and all that. I am finding CBD hash particularly effective right now but I am sensing some impending issues with the online flower/hash outlets. It seems there are many forces pulling in all kinds of directions. It's either going to open up more or close down more but I have found something that makes me feel better and I could do without the added anxiety of finding myself without now, or facing legal trouble...

I agree - for one of my conditions (GAD + Severe Depression - they seem to be unhappy bedfellows so I see them as one) I have yet to receive any medication, but it has been discussed so I would only partly qualify currently. Long story but had it not been for lockdown, I am pretty sure I would have been on a couple of serious meds for that. I have managed to keep myself from entering crisis mode again for 6 months or so with the help of distractions mostly. It does suck that requirement of 2 forms of medications prescribed and not working but I can understand why this is a thing. I'd say carry on as you were and bide your time, there's a decent chance of things changing in relatively short periods of time.

Ah Twigs, I have been expecting you :) From what I've read of your comments, I share your frustration but I think you are letting perfect be the enemy of good. Sounds like you and yours would be a good candidate for the cancard, if you could assure yourself of the benefits versus perceived disbenefits.

Venlaxafine and Valium. Sounds like two medications to me @Diddy I'm clearly no expert, but it sounds like you'd qualify for a prescription of cannabis.

Hmmm... can't really afford it right now, but it's possibly something I could try and save up for - a Christmas present maybe. I tend to buy 'stuff' (toys basically!) that I think will make me happy, but it generally don't. Much better to invest in something that could help permanently improve my quality of life :)
