Vicfirth12
A thread about mechanical seperation/solventless extracts. Please feel free to add your own processes and experience to this thread. This first post will be a few pictures and some basic description with future posts detailing the process we use for our extracts. First up are some Tangie heads separated using screens then cleaned up using the static tech. This was with parchment wrapped around a DVD case and I've just started with the paint roller tech. I will detail the whole process from kief to heads in a future post. We have a Sasquash V2 rosin press which we've been playing with trying to find a way to make the process as productive as a butane extraction without a dip in quality..... it's difficult. After pressing a lot of flowers with varying results we are now pressing bubble hash and having greater success. For the bubble hash we use a camping washing machine with the 220u full mesh bag then filtered through a 5 bag set. 220, 150?, 90, 73 and 25. This is the 90 and 73 from the ChemD which was then pressed inside a 35u rosin bag at 165f. I'm really pleased with how this came out. As tasty as bho and bags of power. About 50% return. Here is a shot of some Jack Herer flower rosin which was pressed at 190f and returned 13.5% Next time we squish I'll do a full process with pictures. Vicfirth12
Nice one folks. Yesterday I ran the trim and popcorn from Valley Dawg which is a cross of Originaldawg x Animal Stomper I made a while ago. Lineage is Original Diesel x Tresstardawg X Animal Cookies x Grape Stomper OG. I'm using a camping washing machine that I've insulated. The 220u mesh bag. There is a layer of ice under the bag and then more ice around and on top of the bag. Add enough water so that everything can move freely inside the machine. It will be the water that removes the trics, not the ice. The ice is to lower the temperature so that the trichomes become brittle enough to be removed by the water. I let it sit like this for 20-30mins to chill before the first spin. First wash was 15mins then drained through the 220,150,90,73,25. A spray bottle with water helps to gather and clean the hash. Any smaller trics that are stuck will wash through to right bag. I'll only be using 150-25u. The 220-150 Is garbage. Maybe worth keeping for edibles. This is the result of three 15min washes and two 30min washes. I mixed it together and then put it in the freezer overnight. A sieve to break it up for drying. This is destined for the press once it's dry so that'll be next. Edited October 20, 2018 by Vicfirth12
The lone stoner
That dry-sift above looks really clean, great job. (It all looks great, but I know the extra effort and attention to detail it requires to get your sift that clean, I've only achieved it a few times) I've got the large fresh headies metal framed screen sets but I haven't really used them yet asides to break down entire dry plants over to prepare buds for making rosin. I have dabbled with the static tech but I think I was working too greasy a strain in too warm an environment and didn't get too far. I'm looking forward to your paint roller breakdown.
FarmerPalmersNT
Very tasty looking man. I must admit, since starting to make fresh frozen bubble hash rosin - it has to be my all time favourite. Haven't the patience for dry sift. Lovely looking kief though. I shall be firing up the washing machine and the press once I've finished this harvest. I might stick some pics up. Already have a ton of trim in the freezer Would love to see a pic of that pressing. I just love the way bubble rosin flows, you get some stunning creamy caramel waterfalls from it. I do wonder what the market rate is for fresh frozen bubble hash rosin. I've never paid for any extracts so not a clue! Given the amount of work and IMO unbeatable quality it must be pricey. Ive got a marmalade jar half full of it. Vicfirth12
@The lone stoner it is extra work but well worth it. My favourite hash by some way. @FarmerPalmersNT I've not tried much fresh frozen bubble or made rosin from it but that's on for next week. Im excited to see the results. We are running an entire discobiscuit fresh.
Vicfirth12
The valley Dawg has been on the press. The hash was put into 35u bags. The first press was around 2-3 mins at 170°f. Only enough pressure the start the flow then left there. We need to add a pressure gauge for readings. We put the bags back in for another press. This time with a little more presure. Unfourtunatley, I over did it on the pressure and we had a blow out which put an end to the pressing. 3g from the first first press and 3.4g from the second. 15g of bubble used. The first press is the best rosin ive tried. Flavour and potency is up there with high end bho. Tropical punch flavour and lots of power. Yesterday I ran one of these disco biscuits for fresh frozen bubble. It's now drying and will be pressed this week. Until next time. Guest
@Vicfirth12 Really great stuff , just a quick question on the 220u bag, is that a 5 gallon bag? Thanks B
