Thanks mark. They've been no trouble growing, just topped them twice, a little bit of supercropping, and a thin out. They're not as stretchy as the Critical mass CBD, and the buds looks liek they'll be more compact.

@@botanics

Thanks fella. I'm running a mix of Dimlux 600w 400v HPS and 315w Ceramic Metal Halide. They seem to be loving it.

Balance of what ? the camera ?

Here they are on day 22 12/12 and they are looking great. The stretch stopped a few days back and they are really flowering quickly, setting buds and starting to get frosty. The smell is great when I oped the doors.

I gave them a under skirt trim and a little bit of a thin out if there was crowding. Took a ton of branches and leaves out, and it looked at bit bare as it usually does, but they'll fill out and take advanctage of the extra space, light and air and I'll get very little air bud. They have been easy to train, alot less work than my last crop.

I've got a load of funghus knats in the pots, last time I got rid of them with Neem repel but you can't get it anymore as it's been banned. I've put yellow sticky traps out which catchs some of them, but I'll have to go to a couple more grow shops and see if they are any Neem pots under a counter somewhere.

Temps have been around 25 / 26 oC lights on and 22 / 23 oC off. Humdity is between 45 - 55 %.

When it got really cold last week the temps down by the pots and in the soil got down to around 10 oC. It's always a problem in the winter that the incoming air is very cold and makes the roots cold, and in the past I've used electric blankets and heat mats, but this time I thought I'd try an experiment and use a second ventilation hole which is at the top of the room. So I blocked up the intake on the ground and now I have cool air coming in at the top of the room on the other side to the extractor, and it gets drawn over the lights and out taking the heat away. Some of the cool air falls down to the plants and I have circulation fans above the canopy which mix things well. Now the root temps are around 20 oC in the pots and 21oC at the base of the stem. I don't think this would work in the summer but it seems to work well now.

Last couple of feeds have been at EC 1.3 as a couple of plants have slighly burned leaf tips. I try to feed as little as I can these days, instead of chucking loads of nutes at them. PH 6.2 / 6.3 , and I've started to add PK at 0.25 m/l, bloom 1.75 m/l and 1.5 m/l Sumo boost. I'll slowly increase the PK levels.

A couple fo the plants were getting canoe leaves, showing stress, so I turned the lights back down to 85%, then up to 90 % yesterday and I'll creep them back up when they can take it. I've been keeping the lights further away from the plants recently as I think they suffer from low humidity high heat at the tops when the lights are too close, causing the leaves to curl and reducing their transpiriation.

Here's the PAK - great smells, kinda rubbery lovehearts sweets.

Thanks mate, no one else gets to see the plants so feedback means alot.

The dimlux lights are top notch so far, its the Phillips 400v bulb and I'm guessing the electronics too, build quality is very good and the reflectors seem to be very good giving an even looking light spread. Last crop I used the 315w ceramic metal halide's alongside my old 600w HPS in parabolics and the results were great, superfrosty and very dense buds. It looks as if it's going to do the same this time round. It might be worth you thinking about going for the 600w's and adding the CMH lights in ?

The dimlux lighting controller is a good bit of kit too, one of the best features is the auto dimming and shutdown if the temps get above a set amount.

Do you think the additional of the mh bulb during flower help yield production, trichome production or both?. I have only seen mh bulbs being used during veg but this does make sense especially on the later stages of bloom. Very interesting subject which I'll look into more :)

All the best

The ceramic metal halide (phillips 315w ) is supposed to be the broadest spectrum bulb available, and the mixture with HPS seems to give more resin and denser buds, although last time I used Co2 as well so I'll wait to see what the results are this time. I've read that some folk add metal halide in the last few weeks as they say it ups the psychoactvity of the high.

Day 28 12/12

Coming on very nicely indeed. The smell hits me when I open the doors, lots of lovely flavours. Sticky greasy resin forming on the buds.

I've been feeding them about 1.25 m/l grow, 0.25 m/l cal mag, up to 0.5 m/l PK, 1.5 m/l sumo boost. I've kept the EC low at 1.3 and the last feed at 1.4. Ph 6.2. Temps steady as before. I gave them a good healthy sprinkle of canna's trichoderma last feed and top dressed lightly with charge. I water them every 2 days and each plant takes about 9 -10 litres. The Big kush drinks slightly more than the PAK, as the plants are a bit bigger.

I've cable-tied a few of the branches to the wire hoops to give them support as a couple of the plants are spreading a bit too much and starting to droop.

Thank you for the information on the mh bulb mate its something I will certainly have a look at :)

Things look great with the girls mate. They are getting nice fat chunky buds forming and you have a great looking canopy :)

Nice job and great picture update very much appreciated.

Looking great dude, I'm about a week and half behind you with the Big Kush and yours are looking mighty fine so I'm hoping that mine will look a bit like yours do now in a week or so.

I'm only running the one 600w dual spec sodium though. Been thinking about borrowing a mates LED to throw in there too as he's just finished his latest grow and won't be doing anything till the new year. See what happens.

@@b33lz33bub great diary. Lovely pics and lovely plants.

I am thinking of using MH for the last few weeks, I have 2 bulbs. Would you say mh/MH or MH/HPS is better? About 4/days behind you with my critical mass CBD. What did you think of yours?

@Freax Thanks mate. Yeh chunk the LED in and see what happens !

@sy100276 Cheers chap. I haven't used a standard metal halide in flower only the ceramic metal halide last 2 crops. I've seen a few people on here who do MH / HPS in the last few weeks, and I think it was OT1 who suggested that it improves the resin and psychoactivity (but don't quote me on that )

I love the ciritcal CBD - lovely tasting and smelling smoke and a very mellow soothing stoned, it's very good at relieving aches and pains. It doesn't get you very high so I find it's good to have something a bit pokier for when I want to get more high.

@Highburyway Thanks mate.

I have to agree on the cbd not getting you to high. We use it as a daily smoke because it is very calming and also works wonders on migraines which the wife suffers with. The taste is great but I need a heavy hitter at night like og or Critical jack :)

All the best

Day 37 12/12

Coming on very nicely.

Feeds at EC 1.6 / 1.7 using 1m/l Cal mag now , 2 m/l bloom and 1.5 m/l boost. Ph aroung 6.2 / 6.3.

Temps are a little higher 26 - 28 oC lights on now that the air temps have been so warm for Dec. I might have to change the fans back for xmas as I'm away for a bit and they're a little noisy like this when its so warm outside.

I've supported a few more branches with cable ties as they're starting to get heavier and lean over.

Smells are great, lots of fruity rubber fuel. Proper greasy resin which stays on your fingers for about half an hour.

PAK - starting to look a bit prettier now the buds are forming, and some hints of purple are coming through. It has INDICA written all over it !

Big Kush - She's defintiely a big girl, but with all the right proportions........

A couple of these are looking a tad hungry, but I'm not too bothered at this stage. Hopefully the stronger feeds will keep them happy for the nest couple of weeks. I've been keeping the feeds as weak as possible as I think you end up with a smoother tastier smoke that way.
