Big Kush + Purple Afghan Kush

I finally got myself a new camera so I can start off this new diary.

There's Big Kush and Purple Afghan kush here at about 7 weeks old (not sure exactly) . They had a fairy neglected start, left too long in tiny seedling pots, but have bounced back and have been in 30l root pouches for about 2 weeks. Lights went over to 12/12 2 days ago.

Soil is Tropical mix with guano, with added Charge and sprinkle of mycorhiza granules. Feeds are at 0.5 m/l Cal Mag, 2 m/l plagron grow, 1 m/l silicon, 1m/l root stim. Ec is at 1.2 and the PH 6.2.

Temps in the grow room are 24/ 25 oC lights on, 22 off. RH is up to 55 % light on 70 % odd off.

I've topped the Big Kush twice and the PAK once, as the BK looks very similar so far to the Critical mass CBD I just grew and was a real stretcher, and the PAK looks much more like a stocky Indica. I've made frames around each plant with 3 canes and some coated wire. I'll be training, pruning and thinning out as I go along. I used pea netting with canes last time which worked fine, but is no good if I need to get into the room to work on the plants. So this time they'll be individually supported and I can get right in between the plants to work on them.

Running a mixture of Dimlux 400v 600w HPS and CMH 315w. They're dimmed to 60 % at the moment, as a few of the plants were showing slight signs of heat / light stress and curling gently upwards. Now the plants are bigger the RH is getting up and the plants will hopefully take more light.

Next time I'll switch one type of light off as the camera can't cope with the weird white balance.

You will be very impressed with the PAK great plant to grow just on my second run and can not fault the strain ...... well any from dinafem are good ;) one thing I will say dont worry about leaf curl (leafs like cabbages) as thats the norm with this one ;) and also she grows amazing golf ball size nugs and nice tight internodes all the best and keep us updated :)

That's very nice to hear and valuable information to let others know about the leaf growth :)

I'm sure many will be doing this strain :). Looks very popular :bong:

I think things are coming along well mate. From the look of things and the soil mix all sounds bang on track for a nice grow.

Thank you for the picture update very much appreciated :). I think maybe you can go in settings on camera for white balance :)

All the best

@@The Old Boy Great to know you've done well with the PAK. Yeh it's a droopy draws indica leaf wise. It's the BK that is curling up at the leaf edges a touch, which I read as a little stress because of the something off in the environment (too much light or heat, too hot, too dry). I'm keeping the temps down a bit, which will keep the humidity up, and the light dimmed until they can take more.

Yes @@Dinafem-Mark - they are really going for it now, it's that period when they are well established, but before flowering, when they grow with full vigor.

I did play around setting the white balance, but I think the weird hues in the photo come from there being the two types of light sources (HPS + CMH) and the strange shadows you get on the leaves. It's been a while since I had a decent camera so I'm enjoying playing around with it.

Thanks for looking in fella.

I'm getting well into growing big plants again after a couple of years of doing autos. I enjoyed trying to get the best out of them with training and pruning, but, its great training big beasts again. I've got a half decent veg room now so I'm on a mission to find some good mother plants over the next year.

The lights went to 12/12 3 nights ago, so the count down has begun. They are going properly nuts now and hopefully will not over run the room. They'll be plenty of work to do to keep the canopy even.

I'm sure there is going to be lots to do to keep a nice even canopy over the next 2-3 weeks. Then it's budporn time :bong:

Nice update mate

Thanks for looking in fellas

It's been about 2 weesk since I last posted, been busy with other stuff and away.

They are at 16 days 12/12 now and coming on very well and flowering quickly.

I've been feeding them for the last week or so at 2 m/l grow, 0.5 cal mag, 1 m\l bloom boost at Ec 1.4 Ph 6.2. Last feed was just water. Oh, and I top dressed with Charge a week or so ago.

Temps are 25 / 26 oC lights on 21 / 22 off. humdidity is between 45 - 55 %. I've been turning the lights up slowly over the last 2 or 3 weeks and they're at 100 % now, will probably boost a bit later.

I supercropped the stretchiest branches which seems to have levelled out the canopy pretty well. Topping the Big Kush twice and the PAK once seems to have worked out well too. There's one PAK that's short compared to the others.

I'll give them a lower branch prune and thin out in the next few days when I get a chance.

The resin is just starting to form on the buds and I'm getting lots of great smells. This is going to get very good soon

I took the pics under the sodium light, but with the white balance set to the colour tempertaure. they look a bit bleached out, next I might play around with flash and sodium lights.
