StonedBrittania
Hi fellow tokers, Quite often threads pop up requesting information on Hotels and places to stay in Amsterdam, thought it would be easier for all to just create one thread which can be updated everybody over a period of time, My 1st review is for the Centrum Hotel Address - WARMOESSTRAAT 15 - 1012 HT AMSTERDAM - THE NETHERLANDS (opposite Hunters Coffeeshop and Hill Street Blues – 5minute walk from Central Station) Contact Details - TEL: + 31 20 624 35 35 - FAX: + 31 20 420 16 66 Prices – Single room 45Euros per night (pretty sure all singles have shared bathroom) Double from 60-80 Euros per room per night. Triple 80Euro (all shared bathrooms) 2 Bunk Bed standard (shared Bathroom) 115Euro per room per night. I stayed at the centrum for 2 nights in June this year, was very happy with the place. Room was pretty small but clean and tidy with a nice sized bathroom, managed to talk the owner down to 75euro per night, she was originally asking for 90. The only problem with the room was we were on the 5th floor and no lift, and those stairs in dam are not designed for stoned tourists, beware! 1 negative is they knew nothing of my booking when I arrived, seems the guy that took the message didn't put it in the book, luckily there was a spare room this time. The Centrum also has a nice comfortable bar downstairs that supposidly has the cheapest beer prices in dam, its also smoker friendly. The hotel also has no curfew although I was a little concerned to find when i returned on sunday night at about 1am they were actually closing the bar so if I had been 30 minutes later I probably wouldn't of been able to get it. Overall I would defiainly recommend the Centrum, it certainly ain't the Ritz but is defiaintly good value for money. P.S Mods - Could we pin this thread please. EDIT: I stayed here again in September due to the Greenhouse Effect being full, this time it wasn't such an enjoyable visit. We stayed a Thurs and Friday night, i think we paid 70euro for a twin room for Thurs and 90euros for Friday. Room was small but comfortable enough, I was a bit disappointed to find you couldn't close the window, especially when I realised the hotel was having work done on its roof, which happened to be right outside my window. So for both morning we were awoke at 7am by 10-20 workmen using power tools no futher than 20 foot from my window. Luckily I was stonned enough to get some sleep! Punky
i stayed at the Heart of Amsterdam Hotel this summer, it was ok, a bit basic but the staff were friendly enough. was £25 a night each, which was rather a damn lot, but we got ensuite and breakfast, which we were never up early enough to use. its right in the middle of the red light district and next door if Cannabis College. an advantage of the place is damn good security, as the front desk is manned 24hrs and they collar anyone not getting a key for their room from the desk before walking past. they also got a safe in each room (20 euro returnable deposit for each one). so overall, not a bad hotel, but could have been a bit better. oh yeh, the tv had no remote, so it was damn hard makin the effort to change channels at 3am whilst smokin a tulip

Marvelboy
B) If you've got the money or if you haven't, save up My girlfriend & I stayed at - Crowne Plaza Hotel AMSTERDAM CITY CENTRE Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 5 P.O. BOX 2216 AMSTERDAM, 1012 RC NETHERLANDS Tel: 31-20-6200500 Fax: 31-20-6201173 http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/6c/1/en/home The hotel is located in the historic heart of Amsterdam, near Central Station & the Dam Square. Shopping streets, canals, museums and lots of entertainment are in the immediate vicinity. Grasshopper & Homegrown Fantasy just down the road. A network of public transportation is available almost on the doorstep of the hotel. The rooms are fantastic including air-conditioning, cable & satellite TV, internet access (incl. wireless), in-house movies (porn ), mini-bar, two telephones and data port, hairdryer, trouser press, iron and ironing board, bath robe, mineral water, coffee and tea making facilities. Also has a health club open 24hrs(free to guests), if you're into that sort of thing. You should use the pool after a smoke. Refreshes the mind & body. The staff are so pleasent & very helpful. You get a envelope in your room to tip a member of staff personally. Should of stuck a bud in it! If you go for the buffet breakfast I'm sure you will come home a stone heavier. So much choice, so little time. Going again in feb with some friends :bush:
Cedarwood
Hi all... Well as I mentioned stayed in the Winston. Can't really remember the addy sorry but I know it is on WARMOESSTRAAT. Nip down the side of the Grasshoppper and turn left and your there... Have to say it was Ok but nothing special... It was a quad room though, worked out about £20 pp p night so I wasn't expecting the ritz! No TV or facilities but again, not what you book the room for. It was clean, friendly and the bar was open until about 3-4am.. Other rooms I saw looked alot nicer with Tv's etc but all in all I'd say it was fair value for money. A good place for 4 lad's to stay but I think there are nicer places if your going with your lady...*S*
StonedBrittania
Here's some details and contact information for the Hotel Winston: HOTEL WINSTON Warmoesstraat 123, Amsterdam 1012 JA, Netherlands Phone: 020/623-1380 Fax: 020/639-2308 Under EUR110 Once a crash pad above a notorious night bar, the hotel was transformed in 1996 to a venue for the young and the young at heart. Paintings and decor by contemporary artists grace some of the hallways and guest rooms, many of which are re-created periodically under the sponsorship of forward-thinking corporations whose demographics of choice is the "artsy" crowd. The less expensive rooms are not included in this program and many don't have private bath or toilet, but all the rooms are clean and cleverly done and some can accommodate six people. It's right in the center of town along a busy tourist street, so ask for a quiet room overlooking the inner courtyard if you want to sleep before the wee hours. The downstairs bar has quickly regained its reputation as a vibrant venue for live performance and late-night music. www.winston.nl. 66 rooms. Bar. AE, DC, MC, V. Keep those reviews comin............ utopiate
This is a cat I got free on my fourtieth birthday in the brouwersgracht. Waterbed and whirlpool bath, dream to live... though you can't cuddle, as a couple , on a waterbed, you end up in a deep sweaty hole. Life is good. Happy yule, for santa is a pagan too. mtbskalover
the only place to stay if ur aged between 18-35 is the flying pig downtown. On of the coolest palces i have ever been too! u cant smoke in ur room, but can smoke everywhere else. downstairs they have a dvd player with big comfy sofas and a dark chill area. Upstair is this cool little area, u take ur shoes off, and lie of cushions and skin up. There is also a bar and free internet. they have all types of rooms from dorms of 22 too king size double beds. prices are good too about £17 for a nite, u get a little breakfast too. It is located 3mins from CS and 5mins from the RDL, 2mins from home grown fantasy. i usually spend most of my late afternoons and evenings in this place with a stash from my days travels, u dont need to go out, everything is there, cool peeps, cool music, and really chilled. they also have a hostel down in leidseplein (sp?) and at a beach somewhere. www.flyingpig.nl
