the human condition doesn't allow for the kind of imagination required to understand the tiniest portion of "god" and we can't accept that "this is it" in terms of why we are here so we invent a mythology to surround the bits we don't understand/ (which is all of it).

for me I belive that in order for there to be a god it must have at least some basis in a physical realm, it would be absurd for me to say i know all there is to know about physics (try reading roger penrose's road to reality whilst off your face ) therefore absurd for me to deny the possibility of a for a life form higher than that which i have experienced to exist. however i am sure that if such a being existed it would not care one iota how i lived my life and it is most certainly not a god as expressed by any religion i know of.

with that caveat i would call myself an atheist through and through....
