Why’s it got such a big following or hype then if most on here reckon a lot of it is shit? lol . Guessing maybe when the first lot came out it was good for the time and got itself loyal fans?

Well most of us on here are grumpy old contrarian bastards, that probably has something to do with it lol

Is it over hyped? A bit. Is it totally shit? absolutely not.

The cinematography alone makes it worth a watch, each film has groundbreaking visual effects for it's time.

They were groundbreaking when they came out :)

ILM basically created the special effects industry that we know today.

The changes made to the films many years later pissed a lot of older fans off,

there’s even a South Park episode about it.

I still like to watch the classics, even managed to watch them in the cinema when they remastered them as I was too young to see them the first time around.

Funny enough there is a documentary about ILM. Looked interesting just to see how things was done. Thought just from the trailer they had life sussed, seemed to all work a job they absolutely love.

I have been watching these lately. I seen the first few released years ago and thought I have to watch the new one's. Well their pretty shit to be honest. I think the big hype is the merchandise to be honest. Anyway I have started now so it looks like I have to finish 🙄

Rogue one is passable, but the rest are boring, how someone can make films with an inexhaustible option of plot lines in the universe and make them boring is pretty impressive lol s/

Star Wars (3, 4, 5, and 6, and rouge one, let’s ignore the rest) is awesome, anyone who says different is wrong.

/s (the wrong but not the awesome bit lol)

Alternatively you can just skip George Lucas' plagiarism altogether the New Dune films are fucking epic!

I appreciate I may have stretched the meaning of the word awesome to its extreme. Maybe for that one read awesome as “not that bad really when placed in the context of how shit the others are”. lol

I understand that lots don’t seem to like rouge one but I enjoyed it.
