Cornishforest
Hello fellow growers, first go with rgsc beans this year so hope for some good results. Bit late to start the diary but not much has been happening in May tbh. I decided on 3x dfg, 3x green gold, 3x purple freeze 3 opg freebies. All germinated with no problems but had a few that were slow to start, I think from being too cold in my grow box. So I then put them under a velux that gets light all day and in my flower tent at night. The purple freeze and dfg stretched quite a bit but green gold and opg not so much. I held off planting out till a couple of days ago due to the terrible may we had but now all planted out. Cornishforest
Plot has had minimal prep, it's in a field of bracken that's not been used for years. Soil looks good with about 6 inches of mulch on the top. Each plant had a 50cm hole dug and mixed soil with compost 50/50 when planted Opg Green golds Dfg Dfg Purple freeze. 1 of them is 3 ft already and all have purple stems. All cages have been added now so hopefully keep the bunnies off them. Some good growth in the couple of days they have been out. 1 dfg looked a bit poorly but seems to be getting better now. I planted 10 out of the 12 rgsc seeds as decided to try a couple under lights to see how they do so have 1 green gold and 1 opg going in my tent and may take cuttings of any outside that look good. Had first sign of preflowers on the green gold today.

Cornishforest
Had a quick look today after it had stopped raining. Green golds looking great Pink pistled preflowers on the opg purple freeze look like they will get tall so topped the biggest one and will tie down the other, no side branches on these yet. Dfg is looking good similar to the purple freeze, actually have 2 that I can't tell apart and mixed up the labels when I potted up but should be able to figure it out when there older.
Cornishforest
Not much happening this week other than avoiding the world leaders and 5000 extra police brought in to protect them. Weather's been terrible and slugs have been munching on a few leaves. I'm in their spot Opg looks like it's doing the best out of them all, couple more pink hairs showing but hard to picture. Not sure whats up with the purple freeze, there getting taller but no side growth at all, possibly got a bit root bound. Got decent weather next week so will check it out in a week
Cornishforest
I think something has started living in 1 of my green golds, I topped it a week ago but it was wet for a couple of days afterwards so don't think it healed properly. The top leaves were droopy for a few days after that but recovered, then I noticed a yellow grainy substance on it a few days ago but didn't know where it was from. Then found more the day after and noticed a small mark on the stem and a bulge, also a hole where it was topped, I poked some grass in and it's hollow. Now today found more stuff covering the top and a hole lower down on the stem I covered the holes with pine resin but not sure if something is inside so will see if anything emerges. I will take a few cuts off this once it's bigger as it was the best of the 3 gg I had. Purple freeze still being odd and not growing side branches so tied the spindly one down but not sure if they like being trained at all. I switched to 12/12 on my indoor ones so won't be long till we see some opg and green gold flowers forming
Cornishforest
Purple freeze still spindly and no side growth but nice colours, I tied the top down now so will see if that helps. The green gold with the unwanted guest looks good, the top hasn't grown much but looks to be closing up and can't see anymore holes. The rest are all OK dfg is catching up and opg and other green gold are doing well. My green gold indoors is being odd and not stretching like the others but flowering fast so may only end up 1 ft tall, I potted it up in different stuff to the others so might top dress the pot with the other compost. I'm trying a scrog net so not really ideal as the branches don't bend. The opg indoors is doing well though.
Cornishforest
Happy to find a dfg with pink hairs, I have another with white hairs and another yet to show any Green golds and opg are getting bigger but the top of 1 gg has stopped growing up so will need some training. Am looking in the feild and considering if autos dotted around would work in there next year, the bracken gets about 4 ft tall so should work as cover and I don't think it dies off till end of September
Cornishforest
oops snapped the top off an opg trying to tie it down. Should I try and tape it up where it's snapped.?
Cornishforest
Looks like we have some strong wind coming on Monday so will need to get stakes in and tied up. 1 dfg and a purple freeze starting to smell a little but rest won't be long. This short green gold looks good but the stem still has issues and think may still have something living in it.
Cornishforest
Got a few stakes in and cut back a bit while it was dry today. Big dfg leaf, this one's about 5ft tall now Purple freeze preflowers looking nice, still has very small side branches. But this taller purple freeze has them shooting up from about 3 ft up the stem Pink hair dfg looking good, bit shorter than the others, tempted to take a cut of this Another tiny hole in the gg stem just above the white dot. Few yellow patches and dark streaks in the stem but the plant doesn't seem to care, I didn't stake this one as its short and wide. Few more are starting to smell getting a hint of sour grapefruit from the opg.
Cornishforest
Few pics from yesterday Opg still looking good, I think this 1 will finish 1st The side branches have shot up on the opg with top snapped Big difference between the green golds Purple freeze just starting to grow outwards, this 1 has long thin leaves with pink hairs Another purple freeze but this one has wide leaves and strong afghan smell when touched. Noticed something had nibbled on the stem but not sure what, possibly slugs. Forgot to get pics of the dfg but have 1 approaching 6ft tall so topped it last week, hopefully won't get much taller as it's exposed to high winds and gets worse if not finished before the bracken gets flattened Hopefully the weather improves a bit
Cornishforest
Just noticed a hole chewed through 1 of my plastic cages so think it could be a mouse having a nibble on the stem. Bit of a slug fest out there atm but not a huge amount of damage. I took a few cuttings a couple of weeks ago and all died apart from the bit I cut off the bottom of 1 and stuck in the ground not expecting it to root. Thought it would die like the others so pulled it out the ground today and it had roots. I replanted it in cutting compost but may have killed it, can't remember what it was. Just shows how damp its been for last 2 weeks but looks like it's getting a bit dryer
Cornishforest
I saw an advert for slug barriers that were jute fabric circles sprayed with garlic I think, so tried to make some out of an old bag soaked in hot water with garlic and carolina reaper chilli powder. Purple freeze living up to its name
Cornishforest
Opg with snapped top starting to flower, smells of lemon. This 1 stretched alot after top was snapped so looks skinny compared to the other opg. Rest of them are still doing well in veg, have been looking back at a few diaries as thought they were about a month behind but looks like it's not that much, maybe a week but are bx1s this season so not sure. Most are still 4-5 ft but have a 6 ft dfg that I may need to tie down to keep stealthy. Weather's looks good for next few weeks so should put on some size. I think the purple freeze and green gold are semi auto so probably won't be that long before they start. Opg
