SYZYGY
+1 for the 5l Bormioli Fido jars... game changer Really nice seal and closure, prefer them to the Kilners. Wouldn't say the glass is any thicker. Managed to fit exactly 7oz in one jar (won't leave it this full for curing, was just curious as to how much fits in)
Bailey420
kilner jars for me, hidden in a false wall. a sheet of plasterboard screws on over this. Looks just like the rest of the wall. Edited February 14, 2020 by Bailey420

Would need a big safe and its not easy to hide the safe cover either. A false wall is way more discreet. Did you build into the wall yourself or was there already an alcove in there?

I just made the doorway a normal 30 inch doorway by building a little wall on the edge of it. This wall was perfect for hiding killer jars in. I screw a piece of plasterboard on it and it looks just like the rest of my wall.
Notorious B.U.D
Check these 10 Litre Jars out... Not as thick as the Kilner or Fido’s and they only have a screw cap instead of the clip and rubber seal but for only £13 inc postage there not bad Just need to get it filled up now!

Arthur Mix
@MJMan threads on stashes would be a poor idea tbh as then it wouldn’t be a stash . The wrong eyes may see it then add into search patterns if stuff goes wrong

grooving
I’ve converted to Kilner and ball and Mason screw topped glass jars instead of clip tops recently. Find I get a more reliable and consistent seal proved by the pop as I open every one of them which I didn’t get on every clip top Kilner or Le Parfait.
Military Grade
Douwe Egberts coffee Jars seem to work well, Of course only useful if you already drink their coffee

But absolutely lovely as a work jar. Huge massive seal on them. Good coffee jars for on boats too.
sonofmum
I was going to order a shit ton of boveda packs but what you guys said about hydrometers being the only requirement (and timing the burpings off them) just saved me a lot of dosh, so thanks dudes!
sonofmum
Also, whatever jars you buy, I find it's best to order a ton of extra rubber rings and using a dual layer on the seal, they fit better and the rings are cheap as chips IIRC
MindSoup
Le parfait and kilner are really good IME although I haven't bought any for a while, I quite often just use old jam/pasta bake/pickle jars which work fine if you're not storing super long term and I prefer te screw tops myself. Stay away from kitchen craft, the last few I got from them seem to chip themselves when being closed, nothing major but still annoying and a potential safety risk. Old glass lined thermos flasks can also come in handy for a more subtle option, not as easy to find mind you and even harder to find replacement seals.
