Day 26

large.20200214_130858_copy_2012x2683.jpg

I have given both plants 2litres of 1ml seaweed today.

They are still growing well,  and are going for it a bit. The cupboard is full now!  The photo above shows how much space I have between lamp and plant tops, 14inches and 2 more spare above the light.

It is real tight between top of pots and plant leaves so I have attached a pipe to the top of a 2litre bottle, makes it a little easier poking around under there!large.20200214_131018_copy_2012x2683.jpg

The Honey Peach has some oddities in the branching, there are places where 2 leaves are growing right next to each other, sprouting out the same branch. And there is one branch that has behaved like it was topped, and turned into a double header. Has anyone seen this before? Or know what it's called?  large.20200214_125922_copy_2012x2683.jpg

She looks healthy with loads of flower sites all over. I may even trim a little underneath later on.large.20200214_125415_copy_2012x2683.jpglarge.20200214_125504_copy_2683x2012.jpglarge.20200214_125534_copy_2012x2683.jpg

Now let's have a look at Sweet Gelato Auto.

She has to stay in here as the temp probe is into the pot. I dont want to damage the roots bring the probe in and out. As you can see, the side branches have stretched a fair bit.

Here is honey peach back in the cupboard..

and lastly the pair. I have removed the pc fan and changed position of temp probe(foil wrapped plastic cup) large.20200214_131355_copy_2012x2683.jpg

That's all for now! Maybe next feed I will start putting a tiny bit of bloom feed in, see how they look.

Thanks for looking! :smokin:

Looking good mate, they've soon filled that space alright ;)

Sounds like you have a polyploidal plant. I've had a few mate. It's something to do with the chromosomes.

Where the main stem has split into two you might find that the stems become elongated or flat and the tops will be fasciated long oblong buds. You also might get 3 or 4 leaves growing from the same node or just staggered a little bit from the node (whorled phylotaxy). You'll know what I mean if it happens.

It happened to my Sweet Pure CBD last year in this comp. The tops were quite heavy and solid but leafy too. Apparently they can mutate into massive buds  but the 3 or 4 times I've had them they've just grown around the same size as the other tops, just wider.

Yes thanks @jadenugs that's what it is! It's only showing on a few branches, rest seem normal. I had 1 branch of a plant in my last grow that was flat. The bud grew a bit weird on the end, and after a while the branch just folded over with weight. That must've been the same sort of thing. Thanks for checking in :)

Cheers @Clumsy

Itss all downhill from here haha!! Everything was going too well. Since the last update I have snapped the main top on the Sweet Gelato, well one of the ties was cutting into the branch and in an attempt to make better i ended up snapping it almost clean off! I have wrapped it with tape as sometimes they will heal. Fingers crossed!

Also I have turned the front plant around 180degrees, as there is a slope in my canopy that's playing havoc with the OCD ha! Funny how it is both plants , almost as if something is different from one half of the box to the other. I will see if swapping the plant around changes that at all.

Hi @Openairbud :ohmygod: sorry to hear of the break!! It may well repair itself if you put it straight back together.

This grow my second Sweet Gelato Auto had a branch just like that, where it split spontaneously into a double header, though I never got a photo of it. I'd never seen a plant do it before. I don't want to worry you but that's the same plant which hermied and I got rid of, though I don't think it's connected.

Good luck with the remainder of the grow, they are looking great so far! :yep:

Cheers @delagdo and yes, it sort of has repaired itself, bit concerned of the colour of the break  . I had braced the branch with ductape, which lasted a day before falling off. The top didn't wilt so I left any brace off. Here it is:large.20200220_221331_copy_2012x2683.jpg

It has stunted the growth of this one branch it seems, as you'll see from the overhead shot later.

Its day 32 and i fed yesterday morning with 1ml fishmix, 1.5ml bloom and a dot of seaweed, 2litres each. Almost no runoff.

One of my tube heaters has failed so I will be replacing it this weekend. Hasn't really seemed to affect temps, but I like the heat to be coming from both sides, plus the extra heat comes in handy in a real cold snap.

Here are some pics of the plants:large.20200220_210220_copy_2683x2012.jpg

thankfully they seem to be slowing down on the vertical growth, although the gelato at the back has risen a couple of inches above the hp. You can see the top left is a bit lower, that's the branch that snapped.

Below shows how much room is left, I have moved the light up to max height now.large.20200220_210228_copy_2683x2012.jpg

Over the weekend I have left the plants to it except a drink on Saturday morning.

Fed some epsoms this time ontop of the fish and bloom.

I'm starting to get some fading on upper leaves, I think due to light too close(nothing I can do about that) and a heater failing. My guess is it's a bit cold under canopy as my thermostat is situated at canopy level set for 26c. I didn't get a chance to get a new heater yet so I'm thinking to try my thermostat under canopy and set lower (23c?) And run extraction faster. Hope this will keep some heat off canopy but warm under neath a bit. Might also add a bit of calmag to the next feed. I'm also going to rig up a pc fan above the remaining heater to blow that heat about a bit under canopy.

Hopefully this sounds like a plan. If anyone has an idea to help please shout out! ( I will get a pic of leaf damage up soon)

Day 38 now and I took some pics with the light off.

Here is Sweet Gelato in the cupboard.

Also shows where I have positioned a pc fan, above my remaining heater. My controller thermostat is now almost at pot level. I was getting 15c under there which may have been too cold for them. I've managed to raise it to 18c without getting too hot at canopy, its topping out at 29c which is as hot as I dare go. I'll pick a new tube heater up soon:stoned:
