jadenugs
Nice to see them looking so good while holding them back mate, nice one I think I'm gonna give the Intense nutrients a go on my next run too.
flighty
Alright @jadenugs it's more like growing outdoors holding them back Can't fault intense nutes so far, except the grow smells similar to fishmix
flighty
Apologies for the lack of updates recently, but as you can imagine, with me holding them back, there hasn't really been anything to show. So I stated in the last update that I'd been feeding grow, well guess what they did, especially with the warmer weather. Yep, they had a growth spurt. Anyway, I've continued with the grow and with another 2-3 weeks until I can put them in the flower area, I'll be doing a root prune in a week's time. To hold them back until I have a go at the roots, I've done a bit of extreme defoliation Here they are before... And after... I have left enough for further defoliation too, most likely the weaker branch at each node or take the upper nodes off, again. Another nice thing to update is that @diyleduk got my new big light out to me cheers fella, it's a perfect fit! One question for @Intense Nutrients Matt with me being in a fairly soft water area, do you thing I'll be needing to add the usual calmag? Or is there plenty in the bloom nutes? Cheers.
Amnesia
@flighty Coming along nicely in here, you sure are being strict with them especially the OGC2. They look happy and healthy and look at those stems! Be ready to hold some fat flowers come flowertime i reckon. Love the new light setup, i'll also be joining you soon down that route. Anyhow, all the best
flighty
Cheers @Amnesia I've still got a bit more work to do on a couple of them, but the bulk of it is done for now. Can't fault diyleduk's own built stuff. I was running a 400W cob setup that he made for me, but I don't have the headroom to run it properly. I changed to r-spec quantum board, but some of the LEDs were defective, so this is to replace the QB and is more to my liking (I chose it) 375W 4000k whites with 80W of far reds. LEDs for the win

Now that's some crazy growth over the holiday season and some even crazier defoliation You've gone in hard brother which will definitely help hold them back a week or 2 I'll leave the soft water question for @Intense Nutrients Matt Catch you on the next update mate and happy New year All the best Mark..
Intense Nutrients Matt
@flighty sorry bro I thought I had replied to your post when you tagged me and asked. I believe there is enough in the organix for full run in everyday circumstances As our mag cal isn't classed as organic then Epsom salts and calcium carbonate would work as an alternative and keep the organic aspect of your grow if needed if you don't mind and happy enough without the organic label to it then I would always have a bottle of mag cal on hand in the arsenal with your area having soft water mate. better to have and not need then need and not have sort of thinking hope this helps you out bro all the best matt

They have had a heat mat on under them during the really cold nights, but only under 5°C or lower outdoor temps, which there hasn't been many of. 58 minutes ago, Intense Nutrients Matt said: I believe there is enough in the organix for full run in everyday circumstances Cheers Matt, I've got a bottle of calmag that I use larger doses of at key times, but I'll see how I go with this to try and keep it intense only.
flighty
Update again. Plants seem to be recovering quickly from the defoliation, that intense grow is good stuff which I was feeding at 2ml up until Friday. The plants looked like this... Nice structure on them now init. Then Friday was chop day... For the roots It goes something like this... Take a pot bound plant or a plant that's depleted the compost. Chop its roots back to the desired size, like so Refill the bottom of the same pot with your medium of choice + extras Put the plant back in and refill around the new smaller size root ball and water in. Ta Da I did start to do a bit of defoliation again, then realised I might still need to hold the back, so I just took the bits that I thought would be best. Hopefully in a week to 10 days they'll be able to go in the flower area! Also got to say that these plants stink! I left the trimmings in a bag ready to go in the compost heap. I emptied the bag today to an exceptionally strong waft
GreenVision
Hi ya mate, I'm really late to the competition, so just having a go through. Some serious root trimming going on there, hopefully they root out the new pots sharpish and you get some flowers going on soon. GV.
flighty
Hey GV, I'm confident they'll be ready for a pot up in about 2 weeks, I do it to mother plants regularly

flighty
Cheers @Dinafem-Mark in hindsight I wouldn't have started the seeds until 1st Jan, but as it goes it shows what can be done.
flighty
Not much happening here... Just as planned Been feeding them plain water, the heat mat has stayed on and that's about it. OG Cookies 1 has the best smell right now, proper stinker, but ogc 2's structure is spot on, really happy with them! Not that I'm not happy with the gorillas mind Got a cold spell coming this week, might let them chill a bit to keep them on a go slow... Flower area is taking longer than I thought, but nearly done.
