*EDIT*

see page 2 for more info

OP

this is how i solved mine, cheap and easy,

the first thing to do is mark a 3" circle on top of your lamp

and drill it full of hole's (the more the better) and mount a

4" computer fan over the hole's and screw it to the metal reflector

make sure it's sucking air out not blowing in

a glass shield is very usefull if you use this method

the pic's will explain the rest

hope this help's

and add a 4" extractor to suck the warm air out the room

most of the stuff needed is available at B&Q (ducting, fan's etc)

the 4" fan's are available from Maplin's, Tandy or your local

computer repair shop should be able to help you

this setup can drop 15 - 20 deg off the temp's in my growroom

with the glass shield's installed

cost for the fan's, duct's and glass was about £80 all in

glass £8 per lamp (glass bought from fastlight)

duct £6 per 3M (B&Q)

fan  £ 16 (B&Q)

Another quality post with a good piece of advice.

Whats your full set up? Lights, ventillation etc? It looks like quite an operation.

How do you grow? Tall, short, sog, scrog etc?

Hi Chip

the room in these pic's is running 1200w (3 x 400w conversion lamps)

there's 2 x 8" intake fan's for the room 1 x 8" vent as well

as the light cooling

there's also a 16" fan to move the air around the room

i run 4 - 8 bubbler's in here depending on the strain

there's 6 afghani #1 in just now @ 10 day's 12/12

room 2 is a bit bigger, 20 sq ft with 2 x 400w conversion lamps

they have still to get there air cooling (very soon)

again up to 8 bubbler's and 3 x 6" 270 cu/m/h fan's ( 2 in 1 out)

the room's alternate one at night the other during the day

i have a seperate veg/clone room with 4 x 32w floro's

and a 400w halide if needed

all plant's are grown natural no topping or training max hight is

about 40" from the top of the pot's to the light's,

but i can get to within 5" of the glass shield without burning

the plant's

Am i right in thinking that the fan needs to be blowing air into the light area? Not sucking the hot air out? Ive got a little confused :(;) easily done

sorry all for my unneeded thread.

the diy air cooling reflector is just the trick for me.

how did you attach the glass to the reflector. i am worried mine (came with ecolight 1000w) is too flimsby.

tjeers for now and really thank you
