.:|Sweet Afgani Delicious Auto + Speed Devil #1 and #2|:.

.:|Conclusions|:.

Hi guys! :guitar:

So, time to take some conclusions... This was a grow that I appreciated very much, with 4 very productive plants, even with few nutrients. It helped to strengthen my conviction about autoflowering varieties from Sweet Seeds being very well worked, in this second generation every seed ends up as an exceptional plant. Productive, powerful and very aromatic, the difference between this plants and their non-auto version is not noticeable at all... well, it can be noticed, but only because this autos are much faster ;)

To finish this grow diary nothing better than going back to the first post, where I left the goals that I delineated to this grow test and check if I managed to achieve them...

:|Goals|:

  • 1 - Manage to get a good SAD Auto and a good Speed Devil #2 to make fotos of plants with an even better production than what I'm used to get with 7 litre pots. Less plants but more productive. The total final production will obviously be inferior... but superior in terms of production per plant;
  • 2 - Compare the production of an autoflowering grown with 10 litres of soil with the production of a plant of the same variety grown with the same grow parameters but with 15 litres of soil. This will be done with the two SAD Auto' date=' with which I expect to obtain 2 homogenous plants (which is not always easy when growing from seed) being the production of the 2 plants the only difference;
    [*']3 - Compare the genetics of Speed Devil #1 with the genetics from Speed Devil #2. One will be flowered with 10 litres of soil and the other with 15 litres but I guess we will see some differences;
  • 4 - Observe if with a 70wHPS lamp very close to the plants in the vegetative phase the plants stay shorter than in my previous grow and see how this will (or will not) influence the final production.

1 - In the begining I was expecting to finish with taller plants, but I managed to accomplish this goal in a positive manner, here's a good picture of each of the 2 strains (SAD Auto and Speed Devil #2):

gallery_44939_3332_122064.jpg gallery_44939_3332_253397.jpg

2 - Goal achieved. With 15 litres of soil it is possible to get 25% more production than with 10 litre, as you can check in a while in the final results in grams ;)

3 - Goal achieved. Speed Devil #1 is very good... she grew higher than Speed Devil #2, but produced very hard and aromatic buds. Anyway it is obvious that Speed Devil #2 is improved when compared with the first version, Speed Devil #1. Although a "one plant" sample of each variety is not enough to get to some reasonable conclusions, one gets the idea that the second generation of Sweet Seeds autoflowering varieties already presents visible improvements compared with the first generation. I have the idea that soon we'll have available the third generation of Speed Devil, Fast Bud and Big Devil, which will be closer to perfection, which I suppose that can be 99% achieved in some 4 or 5 years, between the 6th and the 9th generation :nea:

4 - Definetly. They are even too short for what I was expecting. They're fine like this, but with some 10cm more they would be even better, because I had space for it. Anyway, for a grower who has a very short grow room this is a very good method. With a 70wHPS (which produces almost no warmth) very close to the top of the plants between day 10 and day 20 since germination, really helps to shorten the internodal distance and to have very short but also very bushy plants, producing the same or almost the same as if we let them grow free. In my next test grow I will not do it anymore, as you'll be able to see in about a month, when I start it ;)

Wheight in grams of the 4 plants:

  • Speed Devil #1 (10 litres) > 30,6
  • Speed Devil #2 (15 litres) > 38,1
  • SAD Auto (10 litres) > 31,8
  • SAD Auto (15 litres) > 39,4

Hash with a net of 158µ > 2,1

Hash with a net of 95µ > 1,4

Scissor hash > 0,9

Thanks for all your visits! Soon a new test grow will start, this time with Fast Bud #2 and Big Devil #2, with a few innovations which I'm sure you'll appreciate ;)

Keep it sweet!! :skin_up:

Hi Dr. Budd!!

Welcome to the Sweet Seeds subforum and thanks for your visit to this test grow :yep:

The grams obtained from each plant are posted in my last post ;)

Have a look:

Wheight in grams of the 4 plants:

Speed Devil #1 (10 litres) > 30,6

Speed Devil #2 (15 litres) > 38,1

SAD Auto (10 litres) > 31,8

SAD Auto (15 litres) > 39,4

So, in the 10 litre pot it was not a Speed Devil #2 but a Speed Devil #1. Anyway I think it would be very similar to this if it was a Speed Devil #2. The SAD Autos were the same genetic and the difference between 10 litre and 15 liter is very similar and in my opinion and from my experience I think that the extra 5 litres will give you an extra 25% of final production in a grow with the same parameters I used here.

With my grow parameters I think that if I used a 600wHPS in a 90x90cm closet and with 11 litre pots the expected per Sweet Seeds auto would be around 45-70gr per plant. But this may vary due to grow parameters like the soil used, the experience of the grower, possible problems with pests, overferts, underferts, etc, during the whole process ;)

I wouldn't put a screen as you mention. Autos usually don't veg long enough to justify a SCROG. To spread them out a bit I would do a bit of LST, opening the branches to fill the area available better. Using 600wHPS for only 4 autos is not the ideal. To fill all the area you have available and use all the space in the closet 9 plants would do a much better job, and in your space you could have 9 pots of 11 litre, since I think they are 22cm x 22cm, so 3 lines of 3 pots would fill an area of 66cm x 66cm... and you have 90cm x 90cm, so you could even have 16 plants in 11 litre pots there, hehehe. That's why a bit of LST may help to fill the space available. Using only 4 plants with your setup I would use at least 18 litre pots.

But all this presuming that your goal would be to maximize production. If you're just looking for quality and for a good production with the less number of plants possible, then you're doing it very well and the choice of pots and number of plants seems nice, maybe I would really only use 18 litre pots (30x30cm) instead of 11 litre pots ;)

Hope this helps mate. If you want any more advice or whatever you can open a thread here in the Sweet Seeds subforum and I'll be pleased to follow your experience and share some opinons :yes:

Thanks again for the visit, keep passing by!

Hi mate!

Thanks for coming back buddy :yep:

Hehehe, yes, that's right, a very nice SCROG you have there Dr. Budd ;)

Anyway I said "Autos usually don't veg long enough to justify a SCROG"

"Usually" and "justify" are 2 very important words here ;) Let me explain...

When I see autos in unexperienced hands sometimes people even have difficulties to have them with 20cm when they are 30 days from germination. So, usually, they don't justify a SCROG. But when they are in good hands, like your autos definetly are, they can grow enough and spread enough branches to make it possible to do a SCROG.

And about the word "justify", I mean that only if you are extremely limited in space, in terms of height, they would justifiy a SCROG. Because an auto usually does not grow higher than 60-70cm and usually every grower has at least that height available to grow them.

In the hands of an experienced grower and/or someone who knows what is doing, like you, they can make a positive use of a SCROG. And if you have height limitations in your grow space the SCROG will be perfectly justified. Or even if you have few plants for the area you have available and you want to take advantage of the area that is illuminated ;)

Thanks again for your visit my friend. Keep up the good work. Next time you grow Sweet Seeds you could post your diary in the Sweet Seeds subforum and/or participate in our grow diary contests :yes:

Yes, they look very good and they are a lot bigger, hehehe, another proof that Sweet Seeds autos can grow very tall if they are given the chance...

Enjoy your sweets ;) Thanks for the pics, sweet smokes!
