burstbud
Remember to screw the bulb in TIGHT, to do this get some kitchen roll or toilet paper and wrap it round the bulb, then screw it in tight. And I mean TIGHT! DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS WITH YOUR HAND, the grease off your fingers will cause a hot spot on the glass and make it more susceptible to explode. Not screwing it in TIGHT will cause your ballast to get really hot

Scribb|e
You will need a ballast to power the lamp, and also a contactor if you want to use it with a timer.
