andyr1rider
hi,just wanted to check before i wire up an e40 fitting i just purchased.the fitting has two wire clamps but no markings, are they just like a normal household bulb fitting and doesn't matter which way around the live and neutral wires are attached? JS
NO They MUST be wired correctly for SAFETY reasons Live is in the centre Nuetral is the outer connection If you wire them anyway you like you can make the outer ring of socket and lamp live JS
burstbud
JS is correct. do not wire it any other way than, live to centre and nutral to outer. HPS are not normal houshold bulbs, they have an igniter in them, if you wire it the other way round the ignitor might not fire, or even explode the bulb. burstbud
give us a pic of the top m8, and we will point out the correct pins for u. btw that looks like one from the online leccy wholesaler, if it is then they are pretty rubish. just watch the pins when u are tightening the screws up, they have a habit of bursting off the interior parts.
