Percy
IMHO while its great to do the 'right and good' thing AND get paid for it, its double great when you lucky enough to be in the position to do the right thing and NOT be paid for it. Both work for different reasons. i see it as 'my bit' for the cause, as it were & not a selfish excuse to escape domestic dramas, socialise & showoff at all - oh no - nowt like me that

Percy
pre christian new years day, the 1st of nov, just to mess with heads true but the one god squad didn't replace a homogenous pagan culture midsummer, midwinter & beltane (april fools for keeping the old calendar) were also used by british pagan cultures (890AD in York saw the last fullon viking northern yule celebration if memory serves) tis hvys 'baby' and he will 'birth' on the best day quite a horrid mental image with danzig holding his hand saying 'push' appeared momentarily then *shudder*
HvyFuel
The first is midweek mj, the Meeting Hall will be open on Sundays and Mondays only to preclude any legal connection with the adjoining property which will be closed on those days. Besides that I think the significance of the fifth would be recognised by more people and don't wish the CA to be seen as a pagan organisation ( or a christian, jew, buddhist, hindu, muslim, etc, organisation ). We welcome cantheists of all beliefs and none so although I'd be happy to arrange a celebration of any significant religious date I wouldn't an important anniversary to coincide with one. And I doubt the point will be lost on the authorities either.
