@BilgePump Yes, nothing new or exotic, just exploitation of workers for money. The Spanish model for legalisation with co-operatives instead of corporations is clearly superior.

Gotta be better wages if your not paying tax right? ;)

joking aside, I always imagined the industry would have a revolving door type employment. You’ll get people wanting to jump on it because it sounds cool. End of the day you’ll just be dealing with a product like every other product and the novelty will soon wear off. They’ll have another line of youngster thinking how cool it sounds to work in the industry for shit money and round and round we go.

Don’t just wanna shit on your hopes though maybe look online and see what’s out there abroad. Use it to have an excuse for a holiday and visit the place and just see where it takes ya.

This.

I love plants always have... Got a job in horticultural retail... 5 years in and its beginning to feel very much like work.

Sometimes it leaves me reluctant to tend to my own plants because ive been unloading danish trollies all day.

If you work with/around other peoples plants yer personal phyto-sanitary protocols need to be razor sharp too, nobody wants to take work home

Work has that effect on people, I work on boats and you wouldn't catch me spending my free time anywhere near one.

Anyone remember the account that came here one time looking to "recruit" a master grower...

That was a fun thread.

Give Humbolt County a miss though, there was a documentary on it, can't recall which service but loads of people go missing there or get murdered (canna workers).

Grim!

Tbf its totally comparable.... Turning a passion into a job rarely pans out to be as enjoyable as it seems from the other side of the fence.

I'm sad to say that in terms of making good money, with the current model, the best way to make money in the cannabis industry is to be an investor / Tory and own a medical cannabis company or to be a prescribing medical professional/specialist pharmacist.

Another possible way I can think of, is to tell GW Pharmaceutical / Jazz Pharmaceutical that you have evidence of their Global Public Private Partnership and are going to the press unless they give you a decent role in their company.  Of course, doing that will only make them laugh or have you quietly disposed of and wont end up with a job.

If you can get into nursing, you can be a cannabis specialist nurse. If you are good at public speaking, you could possibly get into their marketing/events & PR/publicity wing.

I'd love to work in cannabis too, but it seems harder to get into than I thought.  I did contact Celadon in Birmingham who have a growing unit in Birmingham City Centre, as I moved down to the Midlands for a bit.  All I asked is where they recruited and expressed my interest in working for them with relevant experience for a few positions and lashings of praise for their recent successes and expansion.  They did not even dignify my enquiry with an answer of any kind.
