You mean like Hannah Deacon did with Alfie Dingle & Charlotte Caldwell with Billie when they got the Medical Cannabis law changed by getting enough press attention because of the number of people that signed the petition? Not delusional, though it takes a synergy, then it is functional. Always hiding does fuck all, that's for sure. It's not a main driver, I totally concede, but it can help to change the inertia and changing public opinion and policy depends on changing the herd attitude, reaching critical mass - in conjunction with corporate money getting behind the whole thing and the media being edged out. We don't live in a democracy, we live in a populist dictatorship. YouGov was set up to rinse corporations and to gauge public opinion to help to colour the marketing of policy. I accept that the spirit of what you are saying, but neither can we ever rely on a UK government to legalise weed without pressure. They need evidence their spin is weakening. Degsy
Maybe I'm just too cynical at this point but 'corporate money' is not going to produce any law which is in my interest

Clean Green
What gets me is how they talk about 'legalising', This is incorrect, as the accurate term should be re-legalising. They didn't legalise party's after the lockdowns, they re-legalised them. They've had their party of prohibition now, it was about money and control and now it's over. We're as per usual the country that does everything last. I just hope we don't end up with the level of commercialisation as in the US, though if I can be the custodian of a few plants in my garden without the worry of being kidnapped, locked up and punished every summer, then I'd take a bit of that.

They will allow you to grow as many plants as your allotted carbon credits let you.

Ain't that the fucking truth. Though growing outside, growing dozens you could earn your carbon credits for winter by fixing carbon for them.

You are so right, it's all spin, smoke, mirrors and bullshit. Unfortunately though, the law as discussed in parliament is looking at hitting even simple low level possession a LOT harder. They've got a whole lot of people fooled and the imbalance to the right is insane. The Independent has recently added in new right wing leadership who are taking this formerly left wing paper lurching to the right. I assume that was the plan all along. Too many people are folloiwing the Tories (and Red Tory Starmer's) bullshit as read, in the face of evidence to the contrary from countries all around the world. We really are in a 2 party system of fools. That's why I am adamant about having a say, even through an alt email and VPN. Well, that's just like, your opinion, man. I respect that but mine differs. The quote included indicates why. Of course they'll decide if, but they never change anything without pressure and money being applied. Anyway, opinions are opinions and I have done my bit. No2Schwagger
The police hardly even show up to armed robberies in shops these days. They don't have the resources to fuck with someone smoking a joint.
