Hedge row Hideaway

Evening everyone,hope all is good.

And then there were five. Im afraid the Lemon Haze Auto was riddled with bot and pm. I knew a late sowing, of what seemed a soft auto, was never going to work, the process had to be the fun bit then. Thought i had the pm under control( couldnt get what Oldford advised) . It may have been futile with this one, this late i feel. There will be a few smokes off of it to try, and might try a bean or two early next season, theres always next season :).

A few small spots of bot found on the MF,The7, Flc. For now im not really concerned, can only only see how it goes.

Outside those few bits, these RGSC girls are still reaching for the stars, love em! The Flc has that amazing cake scent with a background strong lemon, whereas the gorse site Flc, is all cake!! I will have to come back to you with descriptions of the others, but devine, will be one of the descriptive words used. I believe the second LHA has not a snow balls chance of finishing, haha, or just maybe, its built like rebar for something :). Happy that they are rockin along, so far, so good.

Take care!large.20230921_143651.jpglarge.20230921_143813.jpglarge.20230921_144013.jpglarge.20230921_144033.jpglarge.20230921_144702.jpglarge.20230921_144719.jpglarge.20230921_144728.jpglarge.20230921_170113.jpglarge.20230921_171344.jpglarge.20230921_221442.jpglarge.20230921_221601.jpglarge.20230921_221633.jpglarge.20230921_221712.jpglarge.20230921_221748.jpglarge.20230921_221956.jpglarge.20230921_222036.jpglarge.20230921_222203.jpglarge.20230921_222233.jpg!

Hey there everyone.

So storm, i dont know wtf its name was, hammered in, knocked a few over and split the plastic** on the canopy cover. Most were wringing wet. That was their first real soaking in flower. Other than being a bit bruised and knocked about, there was not bother on them. Prior to the storm, threre were a few spots of mould and PM on the Mighty freeze, so keeping a close eye, as it was similar to the LHA that perished on me. Oh, theres more...

** I made the mistake, of not buying new plastic for canopy, rather than use what was on the roll from last season. As its only 500 guage its integrity is only good for one season, but perfect for one growing season and will take a hammering. The one that split is 18 months on the canopy.

And that leads me to another point of realisation, where i wont need a canopy to cover any plants here next season as there wont be any(tldr: too damp)

Sorry, i dont mean to have suspence to this, its just they way my nut is explaining it. It had annoyed me that a lot of plants throughout this season, crap weather as it was, were succumbing to mould and PM. At least you can cut out mould if not too bad and give yourself a chance. The Pm is end game for me here in the hedgerow. After all the rain, i have discovered that just below the hedge is full of water, that runs for 100 meters. Air flow on calmer days/ nights simply is not enough. The Lemon Haze Auto was shot within a week or so at the end of flower, as i believe everything else will here. The comparison between airflow here, and in the gorse plot, is night and day.

Glass half full, i feel i will still get a good bit from the hedgerow, although i can see most needing harvest earlier than liked. The Mighty Freeze is currently sweating as a 55g( slightly wet, could have dried a bit more) cob at 30 deg C for its initial magic , and hopefully finish out as an oz cob thereabouts. Onset of mould and PM made that choice. Try catch things, and get something. Few other bot spots on The7. Eyes like a hawk from now on. The LHA rebar is screaming at me for more soil, but i think ill try emulate the king of small pots on this one :). The Maff is getting prettier by the day, zero anything so for. Found a small spot of pm on the FLC, other than that , this is an amazing plant. As many have said, this is most certainly in my stable for next season.

It has always been a worry for me with neighbours. The nearest of a few, is at least 100m away. They are a cool bunch, and i would be more comfortable

with them not having to turn a blind eye to my antics if they found out, and the scent will travel far enough at some point, if it hasnt already, for them to ponder.

In a way, im kind of glad, as it makes the decision for me. If i had visitors it was a fn chore hiding them and there will always be some nosey ass . I think ill feel a bit more free around the gaff next year also, i found myself on edge, more often than i was comfortable with. Full bore Gorrilla growing next season.

I believe the hedgerow may appear in the gardening section for a return :)

Tmrws job will be to recover the canopy, as it was just patched up, and get them dry again.

Wishing you all the best!

Hey there everyone, hope all is good!

And then there were two. The 7 and the Flc are drying. Pm stuck its nose in, and said im here to ruin your bud,bud... so grand, they are drying. I weighed the Flc for the crack ; its very subjective, these weights and i rarely do, although very useful with cob weighing. Needless to say, its a goood bit for three branches, ten days to two weeks early i feel also, what can you do?** Cant wait to try it with all the savage reviews! The gorse Flc, will be far more advanced in maturity, so will hopefully get the full appreciation of this strain. Im not brilliant, like others, at describing scents and terps, but the harvested FLC leans lovely lemon/ background cake, whereas the gorse FLC is the opposite, all cake....mmm. It was looking promising for The7 a week ago or so, but this damp hedgerow is kicking my hole, and all the plants i have in it. Its definitely the first and last grow here. The hedgerow wont go to waste though, ill go all Charles Dowding on its ass over the winter, ready for veg next season :) Still should get something worthwhile from The7, its georgeous. I have one on the gorse plot also thats flying, and georgeous too!

** I ll be going across to update the gorse plot, and, ya know, all the straight forward things that go on, alllll the time...

Im not sitting my ass down, waiting for the Pm to strike the two remaining plants in the hedgerow ( Maff & LHA), so i am going to transplant both of them into the gorse plot(Holes dug). Its a bit nuts, insane, at this stage, but now that i know they have no chance of finnishing here, with the airflow, they do have a chance to provide some fruits for thier hard work, and mine, out in the windy wild. The logistics of getting these two onto the plot is going to be interesting to say the least. Having learned quickly in this game that you  have to think quick on your feet...

Sadly this will bring the hedgerow grow , to an unexpected end after one season. I will let this thread naturally wrap itself up, with updates, from the gorse plot, and whatever other bits and pieces there are to follow. Never a dull moment, is there? Been a right few learning curves this year.

Wishing everyone the best, getting their hard earned goodies home.

The last big photo drop from the Hedge.

Take good care everyone!!

Hi everyone, an update on the remaining Maff and LHA.
Its a bit weird going into this diary to post, when there are no plants remaining...:)

So it was leave them here, and get a very moderatre return, for their hugely better potential... or get thier butts out the gap to where they might have a chance to achieve that.
The latter being the choice, and now the right one it seems. They both have hit the ground running, and seem quite happy to have 8-10 ltrs of new soil around their roots. Whether the extra soil and plant response/growth is a problem this late in the season, we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.For now they are going grand. Still didnt mix up some Iguana bloom and grow for them, i must. They have been getting the normal plot feed for the moment, which they seem fine with.

The Maff has had a very small amount of budrot removed, which i believe began in the hedgerow, Tf for the airflow now! Its really clean and putting on a beautiful flower show.

The Lemon Haze Auto(rebar) doesnt know itself in its new home, and it was very happy to have new soil around its rootball. This plant gets the morning sun(when its out) rising over the gorse(10deg) at 8.30 ish now, and is still on the top half of the plant at 5 ish. For both the Maff and the LHA, there is a difference of about 30 hrs per week between locations, which is insane really when i add it up, and definitely another reason they are flying along now also.

The Might Freeze bx1 cob is out for a 48 hr dry, its second(started slightly wetter than i wanted, so slightly longer air drys at 20deg ish), and is smelling amazing( when you cant put it down), it has a fruity, jam like scent, with lovely spicey after notes(See, its funny, i can describe the scent of cobs grand, but i struggle with terps:)). That will be resealed tomorrow for another week.

It really is a confirmation that the hedgerow will not be dry enough to finish anything in flower, at any stage. It may just be perfect for vegging and hardening of the crew that will go out the wilds next season.

I have to say, Im missing them around the place for sure...but i am not missing looking over my shoulder wondering. Im ok without that egde of consistent, and persistent thought, that exists much less around the gorilla plot. I will have enough to worry about shortly when harvesting begins in earnest and try to get a good cure on everything.

I will admit, that i certainly havnt mastered the art of curing bud, not by a long shot, as its all fairly new to me. But what i will say, that cobbing, once i applied the basic techniques and process within reason, takes an awful lot of the wondering out of it, for me, and i love how their volume is brought down to something that is extremely easy to store/cure long term. Its a process im hugely going to lean towards. Cue envy and drools, looking at Hombres and Tangs vintage cobs. I love all kinds of food ferments, this is the perfect addition.

Thats about all for now , ill rock back in with more updates from the empty hedgerow :).

Best wishes!large.20231006_133450.jpglarge.20231006_154642.jpglarge.20231006_154705.jpglarge.20231006_173308.jpglarge.20231006_182208.jpglarge.20231006_182720.jpglarge.20231009_210225.jpglarge.20231009_210240.jpglarge.20231010_160237.jpglarge.20231011_051152.jpglarge.20231011_051530.jpglarge.20231010_200554.jpglarge.20231010_200818.jpglarge.20231013_191113.jpglarge.20231014_131904.jpglarge.20231014_131944.jpglarge.20231010_203007.jpglarge.20231013_191057.jpg

This is the Mighty Freeze bx1 cob showing some nice colours and a summer time impatient mash up that i salvaged from autos, whacked with mould, but coloured up cool, jackson pollack like. I think cobs visually look pollock like, most the time. The white specs on the MF cob are not mould, but crystal like( not sure of the terminality) and happens. Take care!large.20231013_230704.jpglarge.20231013_230801.jpglarge.20231013_234708-1.jpglarge.20231013_234751.jpglarge.20231013_235341.jpg
