RDWC Build help.

Hi All,

This is the end of a few months of research and parts hunting online (got everything for ~£700). I have a few questions regarding my build and I would appreciate any input.

- "Tent" size: 1.4mL x 0.83mW x 2mH - Made this myself as there were no tent options for the space I have

- 3 x 68 litres bins -  by my calculations each bin would hold about ~40l of solution/bin (with the bellow net pots) but I'm really bad at math so..

- Hailea HX-8820 1900lph water pump - hope is not to much - 19mm hoses

- Hailea HC-300A water chiller

- Hailea 4 port air pump

- 2 x Marsh Hydro TS1000 LEDs

- 4" fan and carbon filter - will upgrade later on

- Apera PC60 PH/PPM/EC reader - Tap water is at +500PPM

- Growth Technology Ionic Hydro - Grow, Bloom, Formulex, CalMag, Silicon and PH Up/Down, didn't decide about any boosters yet.

- Serious Kush from Serious Seeds - photoperiod

- Clay balls, grow cubes, fans for air circulation

Questions I need answers to:

1. Will the space/bins allow me to squeeze 4 plants in there? I plan on toping once/LST and then flip, will the space allow that without big temp/humidity issues? If it's not recommended I'm gonna grow 2 and stress them a bit more.

2. Should I get bigger net pots ? What you see below are 8x7.5cm deep on the left and 7x6.5cm on the right. As I say above I don't plan on vegging for long and will use a net for support.

3. Planning on using RO water. Should I mix with tap water and if yes in what ratios?

4. Using GT Ionic line, what strength should I start at? 50%? 75%? Any advice on starting RO water PPM with Formulex? Same for base RO water before grow/bloom nutrients are added , what ppm should I add CalMag/Silicone to? I know It's my first post but,  @badbillybob, I would really appreciate your input on this. I really like the simplicity of 1 part nutrient solutions and your grows are legendary.

5. Am I missing anything? Did I forget anything except germinating the seeds?

Thanks everyone!

I just spent far too long trying to multiply a millilitre by a milliwatt

You must be as bad at math as I am.. and must smoke some good stuff to :))

@badbillybob's your man for this bud...good luck...:yep:

(Just make sure he 'minds the gap'...:wassnnme::rofl:)

Your input is also valuable man, I also got some inspiration from your builds and thank you for your support and activity here!

I will save some root porn for him later on :D I know he's into that stuff :wassnnme:

those lights are only 150w draw, which isnt a lot.

whats set up, are plants going in every tub, yes?

personally id use bigger net pots, save them toppling over.

id also just do one plant per pot. and put res outside grow area

ionic are easy to use, start at 0.6 ec, 5.6 ph.

And, whatever you do........ dont listen to Stu about gaps!!!    :)

keep the water level just below the bottom of the net pot

and add canna mono trace nutrient to your water till it goes to 0.2ec, before adding the grow

Did you get as far as the third part of the equation where you are supposed to multiply that result by millihenrys? (mH: Unit of electrical inductance.)

My head hurts.

I know the light are not much but I got them for a good price.

I was planning to have 4 plants in the 2 right side tubs. The room space doesn't allow me to put a res and water chiller outside without blocking everything.

I'm thinking about depth with the small net pots. I'll anchor the plants if needed but I'd rather have the space for 2 plants/tub and higher water level.

Why I want 2 plant/tub the first grow is to have a short veg and fast grow with decent results. If and when I'll have problems , hopefully not all 4 will die/herm . Next grow will be 1 plant per tub for more space and I'll veg for longer. So .. would I risk to much having 4plants in 2 tubs?

You mean 0.2 from 0ec RO water right? Should I use this as a base with formulex, calmag and silicone ? In what order should the nutrients be added?

It's all about gaps depending on application :D

0.2 from 0 ec yes, you dont really need the cal mag if your using the mono trace elements. if you already have the cal mag and dont have trace then you could use the cal mag instead .

you dont really need the formulex to be honest. so go cal mag to 0.2 ec, then add the grow from ionic to a total of 0.6 ec. then add the silicone 5 mins later, a small amount only is needed, 0.5 ml per litre.or less.

then the ph will shoot up, so you will need to add ph down.  I always add my ph down to water first 50;50, and leave it in a jar. this way its not so strong when you add it cos it needs minimal amounts.

4 plants in 2 tubs will work but be carefull not to over veg or they will go ballistic in bloom.

My man you are a superstar, this is all the info I needed on how to start! Tomorrow I'll pop the seeds and take it from there.
