Using a Velux Window For Extraction

Good news for you as that will make it so much easier.. the window kits are ok but there plenty draughty still.. plus what will you do when it rains if the window is in the roof? Water will find its way in won't it mate?

I guess we'll find out, its just a quick easy solution that doesn't require much of my time, I was extracting out of the unprotected window all summer and only the odd splash of rain gets in when its really heavy. If it doesn't work I'll go for a sheet of greenhouse polycarb a few inches back, that way I can have the window on the latch so its open just a hair and still locked.

@Revive Yeah the Velux design team are pretty clever, even when its fully open its surprising how rain proof it is, way more than my wall mounted windows, guess that sort of justifies the pricing. It should probably be noted that I live in one of the dryest parts of the UK, I doubt you'd have the same experience in Wales/Scotland lol.

Yeah mate your right I've only ever fitted a few non velux roof windows/sky lights and they really didn't come close in quality, these ones are 15 odd years old and still look brand new other than needing a clean. You know it mate, you've got to be tenacious in this life, I do spit my dummy out from time to time but I'll always get the job done.

Well its on, not sure about the quality, was expecting a sort of tent/awning material but it feels like a tesco value shower curtain lol. We're getting 10mm of rain in the next 24hrs (oh the irony) so we'll see if she does the job soon enough. The humidity did seem to start dropping as soon as it was installed so it's at least half way there.
