stu914 Posted January 27, 2022 Author Share Posted January 27, 2022 After a couple of trauma days including a hospital visit for the mrs I've finally managed to get some up-dated pics... They're coming along nicely... I'm surprised roots have migrated through the drain holes and are continuing to grow when I expected them to air prune... I've tied the main stem down to break the apical dominance and encourage the sides to catch up which means I can't look into the bucket to see the roots, not bothered really, the top growth is evidence the roots are happy. Once bud sites are set I'll trim off the 'fluff' from the bottom which will come to nothing. EC up to 1.6 Very pleased with the trial run so far... It's not all the roots, there's a coil forming inside the buckets as you'd expect, just some making a bid for freedom. The only thing I can think of is because they are watered so often the drain channels on the table top are staying wet and the roots are following along there. Chuffed to bits so far, they're 3 weeks 12/12 tomorrow and stretch looks to be pretty much finished so res change and trim in the next few days. They're on 50/50 veg/flower feed with a steady EC 1.7, no burnt tips or yellow leaves and starting to bud. LED now 280w still only two banks needed atm...pics to follow... Res change and serious trim done, being able to remove the pots from the table makes trimming and training a breeze, another week or so, final branch selection then the mesh goes on and they won't be moved until harvest. Two out of the five are showing sativa traits, the others pure indica (same strain)...never know with seeds, always a lucky dip... First a group shot then the difference between the two.... Brought the second bank of lights into play to space the plants out, set at 350w across the two. Temps 20c - 23c Humidity 45% Res temp 23c EC 1.7 Everything's working perfectly, strong growth, no deficiencies, overwatering, underwatering or root rot...very pleased with progress so far.... In my utter joy and uncontrollable exitement I forgot to get some root porn...there's plenty hanging out through the drainholes though, which reminds me, next time I'll drill some more holes for drainage...as to what's inside the pots...patience dear boy, patience...I haven't even looked yet... You could easily mod something from odds and ends (you've got plenty laying around) just give it a try on one or two see how you get on...it really is a piece of piss with no worries about root rot etc and very little maintenance.
