i still like a joint of an evening, maybe two, neat but i never have a cough from it, and if i ever cough shit up it's because of my hayfever/allergies, and it's more often than not nasal debris. but it's rare.

best thing  u will do giving up the baccy 10 years for me now , i started on pure joints n then moved into the world of herbal vapes about 6 years so much better high n flavours than combusting for sure .. for the last 4 months i have completely give up  taking in through the lungs n gone over to oils much better for your health n much more effective n easier to does in my personal opinion. all the best with your quest n remember mind over matter u can achieve anything u put your mind to. plus green tea n hot salt baths help to draw the toxins of nicotine out quicker    :yinyang:

I should correct myself too lol it was a cardiovascular study.. which is kind of the same but just adds to Donold Tashkins massive study which proved cannabis protects your lungs not damaging to them..

Study: Marijuana Use Not Associated with Increased Risk of Cardiovascular Disease

little bit from Jack Herer

by Jack Herer

The average lifespan in the United States is 76 for a man and 78 for a woman. But if you smoke pot morning, noon and night, you will live an average of two years longer than if you don’t. People who smoke pot but don’t smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol will live approximately 8 to 24 years longer than those who do smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. This was proven in studies done by Dr. Vera Ruben on Rastafarians in Jamaica from 1968 to 1974.

The Rastafarians lived up in the hills and were the poorest people in Jamaica. Everyone expected them to have the shortest lives but instead they had the longest lives. They smoked pot morning, noon and night. This study cost $6,000,000.00 and was an extremely comprehensive study. If the same study was done today it would cost approximately $125,000,000.00.

In 1979 and 1980, the National Institute of Science did studies on Rastafarians in Costa Rica that proved the same results. There were only 100 copies of this study released to researchers who were working for the government. The only reason we have the results of this study is because someone managed to leak a copy to NORML in 1981.

Between 1968 and 1975, there were about 10,000 marijuana studies done all over the world, but mostly in American universities and colleges. Approximately 4,000 of the studies were universal health studies. Almost all of them proved marijuana to be beneficial in every way. The few that were unfavorable were never proven by a second study.

In 1974 and 1975, Dr. Donald Tashkin did research to prove marijuana was harmful to the lungs.

He was the head of pulmonary research on marijuana at UCLA Hospital. He predicted that more people would develop lung cancer from smoking marijuana than from smoking tobacco. Dr. Tashkin was 100 percent positive that all of the studies about marijuana would come out negative in his lung research. He had the only study in the whole country from 1975 to 1999. After 1975 there was no more funding for positive marijuana studies of any type by the U.S. Government for any reason whatsoever. Only a negative study could get funding from the U.S. Government and Dr. Tashkin had almost all of it. I came out against Dr. Tashkin in 1979.

In 1981, I was approached by Dr. Tashkin to take part in his study. I was protesting the marijuana laws on the front lawn of the Federal Building, 500 yards away from the UCLA Hospital and University on Wilshire Boulevard. I signed up (along with about 50 other pot protesters) for Dr. Tashkin’s study because all of the UCLA students refused to participate in his study after Ronald Reagan took office in January 1981. Dr. Tashkin saw us pot protesters every day at the Federal Building for 102 days. We weren’t college students and we smoked pot morning, noon and night.

Once or twice a year I would have interviews with Dr. Tashkin. I told him about the positive effects of marijuana. We disagreed 100 percent and he was sure I was wrong. This was a long term study. I was paid $80.00 to $90.00 for each test from 1981 to the mid 1990s. Once or twice a year I would go smoke marijuana to get the pulmonary lung studies done and I would interview Dr. Tashkin as part of my research for my book, “The Emperor Wears No Clothes.” I told Dr. Tashkin from 1981 to 1997 that no one gets lung cancer or any other type of cancer from marijuana because Dr. Vera Ruben and Dr. Todd Mikuriya had already each separately proven it. I had been doing research for my book since the early 1970s.

Now Dr. Tashkin has come out and is saying the same things I said to him 25 years ago. There is no link between marijuana and lung cancer or any other type of cancer. In fact, Dr. Tashkin has found that marijuana, by killing off old cells that could become cancerous, can actually prevent cancer.

If you want to live longer, smoke more pot.

No smoke, no fire: What the initial literature suggests regarding vapourized cannabis and respiratory risk (nih.gov)

SUMMARY

As marijuana laws change, questions about the plant’s impact on respiratory function will undoubtedly increase. The human lung did not evolve to inhale the byproducts of combustion efficiently. Smoking marijuana does not harm lung function as dramatically as smoking tobacco does. Links between smoking marijuana and actual lung cancer are weak and difficult to replicate. Nevertheless, the habit clearly increases symptoms of respiratory irritation such as tightness in the chest, wheezing and coughing. It also has the potential to alter lung function when dose and frequency of use are high. Using stronger cannabis extracts has the potential to limit exposure to irritants, but data regarding this phenomenon are lacking. Many medical marijuana users prefer to use the entire plant. It appears to alter subjective state less dramatically as well as show lower potential for creating tolerance. Edible preparations are an obvious choice that would certainly not add byproducts of combustion to the lung, but these lack the rapid onset and easy titration of dosage available with inhaled products. Thus, the cannabis vapourizer appears to be an ideal harm-reduction approach to safer use.

All depends IME. I struggled with getting rid of tobacco/nicotine for years, until the time a switch flicked in my head and I actually truly didn't want it anymore. After that it was near enough effortless tbh so if your really ready then it shouldn't be too hard. I did periodically find myself (for the first time) in a situation where I'd normally have a cigi and for that moment I might be tempted, the first time I had a beer with a couple of mates for instance, but each time it got easier and easier. I'd suggest you stay away from e+cigs/nicotine vapes, you look like a prick for starters lol But also they're another expense, constantly get full of pocket fluff or smash or leak, or run out battery and they just keep you hanging on, my lungs felt no better from using one either.

Interestingly enough after cutting out the nicotine a lot of the supposed side effects I thought I was experiencing from ganja seemed to fade away with my nicotine addiction! I feel a whole lot more stable and level headed now.

After about 3 or 4 days of abstinence even a few tokes on a cigi or a baci joint will make you feel rank, and you'll start realising how much nicer the effects are from pure weed, once your lungs adapt to it you'll be home free. You'll probably smoke a wee bit more to begin with but in the long run probably less, half the joints I used to smoke was just for the dirty brown head rush anyway.

Get yourself a new toy as well, I figured I spent x amount on baci each week, so for the first few weeks I would allow myself to spend that on a pipe/bong/seeds/extra bit of weed/stuff to make butter or oil etc, helped keep me enthusiastic about neat weed and also meant I couldn't afford to go and buy the baci.

Take the plunge, Don't look back.

i doubt it mate, i seriously doubt a joint or two will cause my cilia to be "fucked"

if i was a heavy smoker then i might agree, but no smokers cough here, far from it and i walk 5+ miles every day so in pretty good shape for my age i would say.

e2a, i gave up the fags about 10 years ago now i think, i can remember the first time i ran across a field to get a mates dog lead for him as he was ill, i ran there and back and was not out of breath. never looked back.
