gmantheman
Hi there, i have two auto auto skunk plants that have been flowering for a few weeks. Albeit just popcorn buds. I moved one into the house as it looked like it needed some space, but the one I left in the greenhouse looks like it’s got rot. Is it rot (I suspect it is), and if so is it for the bin? Thanks
Inspiration101
Sadly yes, thats rot. Dump it. Preferably away from the rest of your plants carefully as that is all spores that'll spread like fire.

But the rotten one had flowered much stronger. Sod’s law!
HippyHair
I reckon there's more spores in the air this year, more than ever. For some reason allot of us is getting the mold were they never had it before, so don't beet your self up about it.
gmantheman
As an aside, do you think it’s too late in the year for me to start some more windowsill/greenhouse plants?
TheWailingOne
Definitely move it away from other surrounding plants. Don't be in a rush to dump it though. Remove the affected areas as cleanly as possible and see what happens. At this point you can't say for sure what the outcome will be so you have nothing to lose in seeing what becomes of it. Imagine if everyone wrote off every plant that suffered with a bit of mould.

iCartlidge
This is what has been stressing me out, constant checking. Glad you can save it though.
gmantheman
oops. Too late. Got stuffed in a bag this morning it it was just about ready for harvest. Don’t know whether to pick the buds off and remove the mouldy bits. Sadly every bud had some though. I remember reading about potato blight (another fungal infection) and learned about the "Smith Period". From Wikpediai: " A Smith Period is at least two consecutive days where min temperature is 10 °C (50 °F) or above and on each day at least 11 hours when the relative humidity is greater than 90%. " And the Beaumont Period: " A Beaumont Period is a period of 48 consecutive hours, in at least 46 of which the hourly readings of temperature and relative humidity at a given place have not been less than 10 °C (50 °F) and 75%, respectively. " I suspect botrytis works on much the same basis. You only need one spore and the right conditions and bingo...!! And those spores are probably around pretty much all the time.

You want to be spotting it a few days before that brown/furry stage if you want to salvage something. Have a look at these from my current grow (now chopped and cooking in the loft): And from a previous grow:
