Amsterdam showed the way

Hi schmoak

Pusher street is a market in Christiania, Copenhagen, selling herb and solid.

If you don't know of Christiania - interesting place in centre of Copenhagen, empty army camp taken over by biker gang. I guess as land price increases Christianias end gets closer. I was in Copenhagen with the family last year and slipped off for the afternoon to visit :) was nice, and easy to buy decent enough herb but nothing on display and not much variety, not like the ol' days :( due to repeated raids from authorities. So no, its not decrim, more a like turning a blind eye for a while (I guess).

Also - Christiania is lovely, really quirky, separated by docks and river it feels so far removed from the city but still extremely central.

Regarding Amsterdam - was amazing, that first time buying skunk over the counter - never seen weed like that before - and the high!!!!!!!! Fuck - I recon Im still chasing it :) was passing through Netherlands last year so stopped overnight, bought some heavy duty, black, sticky hash and stinky herb in a posh dispensary - Boerejongens Coffeeshop was its name, very slick operation, but not much space to a have a coffee and smoke!

Marvelous, @QuintinQuick Thanks for the references and yes agree with you, it's that " never seen weed like that before" experience and so many to choose from too...serious swoon :yep:

And just to mention a great place called 'the Bulldog' which may have slipped in the rankings before now but however, it was a superb experience back in the day, really really fully satisfying, great menu selection. Oudezidsvoorburgwaal 90 for opiumated kashmir hash, verrrrrry luxurious. columbian gold, mexican sensimillia from Chocolata is well remembered, nothing ever hit the home shores like the cannabis of the day over there and as you say now Boerjongens after all these years is to be paid a visit. Yes certainly do look forward to the adventure  and around ovember too in between harvests!! will be a relief to have a break and rest from growing by then and can compare the latest and greatest with own stash.

Also had to be said, most all the tourists and everyone else in town were actually very harmonious, happy, docile, well entertained, very satisfied. and the next morning as a tourist ravenous for breakfast but then coffee and more excellent joints all day amongst the lovely people having fun getting baked. What's not to like?

Then... to get moving... out to the parks for fishing or barbacue or out to the coast for a dip on the beach. Great fun.

Often woke up red eyed miles away from town, Great nights out, big adventures.. No Harm:bong:

@schmoak i was with you all the way till you mentioned the bulldog:soap::rofl::rofl::rofl:

in the last 10-15 years it sure has gone to shit quality wise and everything being over commercialized BUT if you take your own weed with you its a win win for a good reminisce of the old times.....

It's  been some time since I was there, but I did live in Utrecht for 18mnts or so about 15yrs ago. Even then, we used to steer well clear of all the shitty tourist dives. Shite weed and bad craic from the usual pisses up tourist mob. If you took the time to track down the local joints though, things improved dramatically. Dunno if they're still around these days though what with all the consolidation from the bigger players. Particular one that I remember very fondly was a barge on the canal in Utrecht that wed go into every day after work for draughts, coffee and smokes. Dude behind the counter was in permanant joint rolling mode for the shelf as they rolled their own for the shelf, rather than buy in the factory rolled shite that most shops stock. Buds kept in glass. Unique flavours, smells and highs. Very fond memories.

The Bulldog :fart::rofl: i Know what you mean but, back in the distant day it really stocked potent and genuine stuff. And separately they also opened the psychedelic bar:eek: with several vars of fresh mushies in punnets for the taking!! the display fridge right up on the counter:D which was great fun to see folk levitating and staaaaarrrriiiinnnng and :gossip::cat::ghost::guitar::in_love::idea:

Fact is today one just cannot source the old Bulldog quality and if you did you would be blown away by smoke originating from the country of origin mostly, that changed a long time ago but it was Mighty Levelling.

Today, it's like Lettuce... does their weed work at all? would'nt care to have it for free now.

Last time I went in the bulldog for a coffee, (no shmoke) even the bud tender was smoking  smelly dirty  rocky, it stunk like UK street soap bar.

That says it all.

True dat :fart:

Putting aside the shit weed:

It's all well and good being able to sit in a shop and toke without concern. Talking to different people is nice too.

However, I often find myself thinking that my armchair at home would be more comfortable and less farted into than the hippy cushions you see everywhere. Most of the people who really want to talk are tourists who always have the same post second joint conversations that they think are extremely "woke".

I'd rather go for the gin. They did invent it afterall. Plenty of other things like the eclectic cuisine and various elements of other cultures (from being a port for hundreds of years), green and clean living, art and history, bikes>cars etc.

I'll still get dragged there yearly for a completely inauthentic crawl of the coffee shops and little else where they will push the indicas to death (because they're sick of people going nuts on sativas) turning all your lesser smoking companions into zombies.

Yes I believe,  the odd thing is that those lettuce and soap bars have customers at all but when the city and hotels are full, then those bulldogs offer seats and cool drinks, and even if the customers only buy 1 gram each it's big money at the end of the day.

Probably good for beer drinking stag / hen parties to swerve into, weed so weak it 's guaranteed not to cause the dreaded Whiteys :ghost: schooling tours are easier to manage.

And certainly, people are happy to smoke fake hash even when good buds are available, some like a mix of alcohol, tobacco, fake hash and valium or xanax but would not seek out cannabis buds. it's turned out to be a very strange world.

I never hear anyone say woke.

 Only online lol

It's the vibe of the city I love more than anything. A vibe we just haven't got here.

I feel so much more  relaxed in the dam.

Grudgingly used in inverted commas. I have to use such words in my writing otherwise it seems "dated".

People don't like it as much when you say they're naive for thinking socialism works (however nice the idea is).

The first time I went (20yr ago) I was staying at the Ledesplein (sp?) so the first coffeeshop I came across was the Bulldog (old police station). I didn't know any better so I went in and bought some Power Afghan, it was one of the dirtiest hashes I've ever come across :puke:

I do love the vibe of the city though, not so mad on the smutty bits but each to their own lol

I struggle to stay awake sometimes, is that the same?

Probably the same effect as talking to someone who considers themselves to be "woke" :naughty:

Much like going to the pub for draught lagers, I would be quite happy to be able to go for a coffee spliff in a coffee shop.

Just not going to be anywhere near Amsterdam to enjoy it.
