Rdwc systems

Hi new here I have had a look trying to see a post regarding comparing different rdwc systems 

 

I'm going in circles trying to find 1 

 

D.i.y. is out the option I am not handy like that

 

Have my eye on the ebay ones DWC R root rapid pro. Cheaper than the others iws, alien, anybody had experience with these? 

 

Or I'm trying to find a system with top feeders as limited time farming them you see.

They are cheap for a reason  

I’ve  used alien,IWS, idrolab and cch20 systems.

 

they are all way too fucking expensive but work a treat

@perfectionist If you're going pre built, you'll see that although the ebay ones tend to LOOK cheaper, what they don't tend to come with is one of the large flexitanks for mixing your nutes. You could live without one but I imagine it'd be a hell of a lot more supervision

O yes definitely sorry forgot to mention will 100% need that for less supervision. 

 

Cant seeing it being much wih a flexi tank 

 

I am looking approx 8 to 10 maybe push 12 but I do want some space in there

They also tend to come with the shitest blue crumbly air stones that do a grow if ur lucky...no filter...pumps are too small...no chiller attachments and the pipe work is not big enough to equalise the water levels quick enough, wank air pumps.....I could go on but i think u get the idea....buy cheap buy twice in this game.

Hi yup I did think that you get what you pay for, out of your list you have used which 1 did you stick with.  Yes will need a chiller / heater. Does any of them come with a top feeder. Not a must

Tbf the first alien needed work - the guy really didn’t like this when I told him that.....then a few years later he changed all the bits I moaned about  

 

still, this 20 oggles of remo chemo in an alien 4pot XL in a meter square.

As you can see it works great.

The idrolab and cch20 are pretty much the same...well built, over priced.

the rush system I bastardised is ok but I do miss having the individual pots and my spacing ain’t great on the rush (I had it made bespoke).

 

if I had just won the lottery I would get the cch20 again as it’s just so easy to get to and clean.

 

in the absence of a lottery win I’m making the next one myself.

 

there is a top feeding one....the name escapes me but I question wether the extra expense is worth it since you only need to top feed for about a week anyway.

Wow just had a quick look idrolab £2,500 for 9 pot system damn. Think I might look for a iws system,  they seem abit cheaper.  Then nee dot look for everything else

honestly , these systems are way over priced for what they are. im sure you can handle drilling a few holes in some plastic buckets, its not that hard, if you want to save a shedload of cash and DIY it. 

 

I did think about starting making these and selling them, but it would be impossible to ship the systems with the solvent welded return pipes and spray bars etc. mine isn't a true undercurrent system, but it does ok. you could use hose for the feed pipes, instead of the solid pipework, and it would be a fair bit less work, with the same outcome...this is my plan for my next system, because the solvent welded spray bars have to be chopped out if the system is taken down or modified. its a pain.

I will be making another system shortly, when my pots arrive, im using smaller pots for this one, and will see how it compares with the big pot one. these will be 37 litre pots,  holding about 20-25 litres of nutrient, and I think they will be fine.  it will also use less nutrients.

 

ive also got a system sitting here that I was gonna put in a 2.4 by 1.2 tent, but its not happened yet. 

 

anyway im rambling now. er, don't go for a cheap system is my advice, they are shyte mostly.

Thank you wont go cheap and yes d.i.y. seems find but I honestly will make some kind of mistake.  Presume I will have a look at a d.i.y guide  need to find 1 with the complete list of parts for a fully automated water system with flexi tank,   plus I want it to look neat.

solid water butt is cheaper than a flexi tank, , and comes with a tap with a 19mm end, so its easy to connect up to a float valve.

float valve will ensure your res is always at the right height.

 

if you let me know your room size , I could run you up a parts list, if you fancy diy job.

I know its a bit daunting, doing a DIY system, but if you use the right tools and take your time its not that difficult.

+1 for DIY rdwc once you have made your first setup you then will be sat with a pen and a pad designing your next one and looking at upgrading and adding extras to it  

 

If your building a DIY system then a decent pair of plastic pipe cutters will save you time cleaning up the plastic burrs you get when sawing pipes

I was thinking 3mx3m or 2nx2m what you think I could fit in it. Not been able to see 1 yet. Hopefully around 8 to 10 with some space? 
 

I will then have space outside tent also for flexi tank and storage etc

when you say upgrading what is there possibly to upgrade? 
 

Im hoping to have the set up complete in tip top order hopefully   

 

really could do with it fully automated.  Only thing is to fill flexi tank.
