Og Kush and Gorilla

Quarantine grow of OG Kush and Gorilla

Setup :

  • 3.3'x3.3' grow tent
  • 4'' Fan and carbon filter
  • 300W of VERO29 DIY COB LED
  • SCROG Net

Nutes

  • Greenleaf Megacrop
  • Greenleaf CalMag
  • Greenleaf Bud Explosion
  • Mykos extreme bennies

Had a rough start, my cheap PH pen broke the day I made my reservoir which resulted in my seedling being in 5.0 PH solution. Getting a new pen was pretty slow because of COVID19. The poor babies mutates and looked like shit.

After 5 days of being in the corrected reservoir they look much better but are pretty beat up. The sativa phenos of OG Kush are looking pretty bad.

Day 20 Of OG Kush

Day 19 of GG4

Day 15 of Gorilla

The GG4 is much bigger than the others and I'll try my best to train it to be even with the rest of the canopy.

Current condition

  • 22°C during night
  • 25°C during day
  • Res #1 (OG Kush+GG4)     PH 5.8~6.2 PPM 285
  • Res #2 (Gorilla)                 PH 5.8~6.2 PPM 185
  • Lights 300W at 16'' of canopy
  • No filter because mine got clogged, long story short the pre-filter was all dirty and decided to throw it in the washer...turns out it made it unable to filter so my carbon filter got clogged, stopping the exhaust and raising temps to 29°C...

Week 4 of germination. Day 1 was when I put the seeds in water.

Current condition

  • 22°C during night
  • 25°C during day
  • Res #1 (OG Kush+GG4)     PH 5.8~6.2 PPM 350
  • Res #2 (Gorilla)                 PH 5.8~6.2 PPM 300
  • Lights 300W at 16'' of canopy

  • Installed the new 400 mm filter
  • Culled the weakest plants, I had 12 plants and had to reduce to 8.
  • Culled 2 sativa leaning pheno of OG Kush, they were weak and way smaller.
  • Culled 2 Gorilla plants, 1 was a runt and the other a mutant.

Will do a res change soon, defoliate, take clones and foliar spray.

I changethe res every 2 weeks.

In green            -the OG kush

In purple           -the GG4 (bigger because he started from clone and not seed) (its actually the purple square and the rest of the plants not in a square)

In orange          -the Gorilla pheno 1

In red               -the gorilla pheno 2 very squat)

Ever get stuck for pH pen again go to a pet shop mate they have ph testing kits. Not as good of course but they are accurate.

If I was you I'd get that air pump out of the room aswell. It will be blowing air the same temp as your grow room into the Res.

Good idea mate. I used them in the past but lost it at some time.

So far the PH Blue lab is real nice and I hope it will be my last. Its totaly waterproof which is how 50% of my previous cheap PH pens died. Totaly worth the money.

Did a res change today

  • Res #1 (OG Kush+GG4)     PH 5.8~6.2 PPM 500
  • Res #2 (Gorilla)                 PH 5.8~6.2 PPM 300

OG kush and GG4 are heavy feeders compared to Gorilla.

Forgot to mention that I use silica and a ph up and rarely use more than 1 Tsp/12Gallon

Also did a foliar spray at 50% strenght of regular nutes + Kelp and humic acid.

I should be taking clones and flip next week if all goes well.

Side note, I'm getting real tired of Hydro and the endless work I have to put into it. I'm thinking about switching to coco with slow release organic nutrients for my next grow but there are a couple of things I need to figure out first, such as what kind of supplement I can use for cal mag aside from dolomite lime that I could add during the grow to fix cal mag deficiencies.

I'd go to coco mate :yep: hydro is great but one mess up and that can be the end of the grow  :(

What about @Intense Nutrients Matt they have an organic line. Or, GK organics is more powder with guano etc and very effective  ;)

Could you not used cal/mag? I know not organic but?

Stay safe in these crazy times

Hey mark:bong:,

I could always use cal/mag as a last resort but I'm looking into slow release dry nutrients like Gaia green which makes things simple and quick. I've been following Mr Canucks grow videos on Youtube lately and he has been recommending it as it yields great results and is very easy going. You just have to mix it with your medium before planting and then top dress once a month! The nutrients are slow release so the plant gets fed every time you water. They are also pretty cheap and is a fellow canadian business which I would like to encourage :)

Also, I've been planning to add a new 3'x3' tent and thinking about giving it a try with coco and those slow release nutrients. It would be a good opportunity to try the new genetics that HSO has released lately. I'll make a post once the new seeds4diary thread is up for the 6 new strains. :george:

That's one brand I'm not familiar with, sounds interesting though :yep:

Kind of like a "supersoil" but using coco as the medium with added amendments to slow release through the plants life cycle?

Cool :headbang:

Stay safe out there

Going to update tomorrow before and after all the work.

I will take clones, defoliate and keep tucking the SCROG.

Weird enough the Gorilla's are showing heavy early nute burn, I upped the PPM to 425 and it went down to 325, yet they are showing burn signs :wallbash:

After the plants recover I will flip to 12/12(~3 days).

I will be flowering for;

  • 8 weeks for the OG Kush
  • 10 weeks for gorilla and GG4

can't wait to see how those stack, especially the pillar that is OG Kush...

Sorry for the late guys, times are busy!

I did some heavy defoliation because the plants were sweating and the RH is rising as summer approaches . Don't want any mold and I want to stack more!

Day

  • 30 Og Kush
  • 26 Gorilla
  • 34 GG4

In green            -the OG kush

In purple           -the GG4 (bigger because he started from clone and not seed) (its actually the purple square and the rest of the plants not in a square)

In orange          -the Gorilla pheno 1

In red               -the gorilla pheno 2 very squat)

large.resized.jpg

I had to cull one OG Kush as it was undergrownand couldn't reach the canopy.

Things are going well, canopy filling up quickly can't wait to see some flowers :).

Same story different pen. My cheap PPM pen just gave up after accidentally dunking it in my solution. This one lasted 2 years.

Ordered a Blue Lab PPM pen and realized that my previous one was off....almost by 2x!!! So my plants that I though were in 400 PPM Solution were in 700 PPM! No wonder they were showing sign of nute burn.

I just started a new batch of solution and will change it tomorrow....

Yep, that'll kill a cheep PPM pen lol

By the sound of things giving the PPM pen a bath could have been a good things as your PPM readings were way off  ;)

The BlueLab will do the trick and I'm pretty sure waterproof  :)

Stay safe mate

All the best :bong:
